News Dump, All the Twilight news fit to print: Breaking Dawn and it’s newbies

Just one of the 9823489234 photoshoots this girls been in. Clearly, Alice chose this tophat

Dear LTT-ers

Remember when we started talking about the newbies and the cat and the Ice Truck Killer who were cast in Breaking Dawn? Well, there’s like a butt ton more and we can’t even be bothered with learning them all until they’re seen out with one of the holy trinity at a 100 Monkeys concert and they’re caught in a lurid embrace with a LOD fan club member. BUUTTT there’s a lot of news out about them right now so it’s time for a round of a News Dumo, where we round up all the news they’re in and bring it to you here in one place… with our LTT spin of course!

  • Who hired an escape convict to play a wolfpack member? Hide yo children.
  • Is this dude hot? I can’t figure it out… yes…. no???? yes??? Maybe in that boy in your 10th grade homeroom kind of way? Also wtf does Peter do? Man, I need to brush up on my Breaking Dawn trivia.
  • Remember when Rob had a mullet in that made for TV movie “Ring of Nibelungs?” Why do I get the feeling she was an extra?
  • The fact that this photo was taken like minutes from my house makes me want to punch someone. Thanks for the warning David Slade.
  • Rob and Kristen are gonna have fake sex in Brazil. Start planning your South American vacations now, Robsteners!!! (if you just added Brazil to your travel website alerts after reading this, you’re on “The List”)
  • Ok, he’s not a newbie but we can always use some Robert Pattinson, with a director talking about some school holiday we don’t understand, in our lives

So which of these newbies should we care about enough to start following? Which Vamp witnesses have a big part in the story? And should we start rereading Breaking Dawn together?

Happy Monday!
Themoonisdown

Our internet game is ridiculous: LTR, The Forum, Twitter, The Store

  • http://www.twitter.com/ScienceGeek91 Rob’s slow mo’ strut

Eh Breaking Dawn re-reading? I’ll pass. The first time was enough.

ZOMG that picture of Xavier Samuel! Man look at those eyelashes! Rob, you’ve got tough competition. You’re lucky little Boo-Boo ripped off poor Riley (RIP) into pieces. Otherwise…well let’s just say you wouldn’t be the only Twi-cast member girls would be shedding clothes for. Team Xavier! (On that note, Moon, I’m still waiting for LTX.)

You know what’s creepy? There actually might be fans out there booking flights to Rio.

I’ll go back to laughing at ‘fake sex.’…bahaha pure win!

    • lindsaylee

yea… im not so much into re-reading that book, it still gives me inexplicable ticks

    • chochang

i’ll pass on the BD re-reading session too. right now, i’m still in the middle of re-reading Deathly Hallows.. before the film comes out! 17 days!! and i’ve read BD like 3 times so i’m good. :)

      • yertlesmom

Yeah to rereading Deathly Hallows in advance of the movie! I knew I had forgotten way too much so I just reread it myself!

    • TeamSeth

LTX hehe Kind of sounds like an airport code.

      • MichaelSheenisaDILF

For when you need to take a flight to Sexy Town!

        • TeamSeth

Okay, new theme song! To the “funky town” tune: “Take me to, Sexy Town!”

        • http://sweetinator88.wordpress.com sweetinator88

          HAHAHA! win!!!!

    • yertlesmom

Now be nice–I actually reread Breaking Dawn and I liked it a LOT better the second time around. The first time I was way too freaked out about the WAY too short honeymoon and bizarre growing baby to take it seriously. The second reading I had a bit more patience with all the nonsence and could start to appreciate (I guess that is what I did!?) the story line. I still think it is the weakest book but it is what it is and I am a fan afterall.. Oh Stephanie, what were you thinking when you had her get pregnant on the first night (!!!!!!!!!) and when you made this bizarre baby like you did. The vampire c-section is nothing compared to how weird the fast growing baby comes off to me.

  • Stacey

Guess who’s rereading Breaking Dawn, Moon? Yep. Instead, of watching Saw (which was on my tv last night. Yuck, yuck yuck!), I had my head buried in that massive book. You see, Snow White Drifted, doesn’t know who Lee Pace is. Even more upsetting (to me), she doesn’t remember Garrett or any other of the new vamps. (She was drinking and reading. Always a dangerous pasttime. Mostly when reading Breaking Dawn)

Keep an eye out for a letter from us on this one. I need to school Snow on this, before the movie comes out. If we see it together, I can’t have her whisper to me the whole time, “Hey which one is that one?” or “Where have I seen her before?” I will be to busy ogling…I mean watching Rob and Lee Pace…I mean the plot.

    • sonata

I think drinking while reading is the only way to make it THROUGH Breaking Dawn. Just sayin’.

      • Stacey

        Ha Ha!

      • TeamJacobEdward

Seriously am I the only one who loved BD? Sure it had its flaws but I loved it all the same. I actually got exited that Bella got pregnant. I’m alone aren’t I? Sure it was reduces and I make fun of the outlandishness that is the demon baby. But I was happy about it. I mean think about it, Bella and Edward both needed a catalyst to change her. At that point Bella discovered how great sexy time was and was going to put off vampirization. Who knows, she how long she might have strung it along not knowing how much better it would be as a vamp. And even though Edward made the deal and said he’d change Bella after she married him, you know Edward would have dwelled and berated himself for the next thousand years about changing her and taking her soul. It had to be life or death. So I’m okay with Renesmee and I liked BD.

*looks around seeing no one else. Just darkness. Hears the sound of crickets keeping me company.*

Fine I’ll be alone. That’s okay. I’m not ashamed that I’m a sucker for happy endings and things touted up in a pretty bow. You don’t have you agree with me. :)

        • Bea

I like the book too, TJE. But it is delightfully mockable. It’s actually my unicorn’s favorite of the four… which is why I can’t get him to bring it home from his office, where it lives on the shelf with the spine facing in.

        • TeamJacobEdward

Think I need a smarter phone or to stop using it for communication because anything I type with this thing its riddled with errors.

“tied” not “touted” among others I see above. *sigh*

        • Stacey

A part of me really likes Breaking Dawn. I just imagined the outcome of the books differently. I am trying to reconcile my thoughts on the two.

I wanted the changing of Bella to be much more romantic, then the gory childbirth scene. (Which I have mixed feeling about, because it is really horror movie like which is good. Mostly after experiencing childbirth)

Plus I wasn’t completely pleased with the aftermath of the first fade to black. Not the bruises, per say, but more Edward angst.

I’m just cranky today. I need to raid my kid’s Halloween candy. Yum, Skittles.

          • operarose

Strangely, I often think of this scene. To me, it was Stephenie’s hommage to the uncanny ability for men to “ruin a moment.” I mean, guys often say the wrong thing. And spoil what is otherwise a lovely moment for a woman. Edward’s angst after the night that made Bella so happy often comes to mind when, say, my husband says the wrong thing after a romantic dinner out, or whatnot… *sigh* Men. Poor things.

          • TeamSeth

Yes! Edward’s angst in that scene drove me mad. Just shut up and notice that your wife is enjoying it. Ugh.

        • lindsaylee

oh my gosh, where have you been? I have been so very concerned that you found a site that you liked better! Glad to see you back (or maybe i was just totally overlooking you…?)

          • TeamJacobEdward

:) thanks. Not to worry. I’m still here.

*gasp!* A site BETTER than LTT?!?! Nuh-uh. No way! There is no such thing in existence!

I have been commenting just not every day or even every post. I’m okay. It’s ben a combo of things keeping me from my full-fledged commenting. Stupid brain injury headaches still reeking havoc and doctors messing with meds so its been a fun past several weeks *sarcasm*. Plus this last month contained my 30th birthday (thanks to those who wished or–tried to wish–me a happy birthday on 10/10. I’m not site who all did because of the stupid hacker), my oldest’s 6th birthday and lots of RL stuff. Plus since RL has been so busy or painful, I’ve been spending lots of quality time with fanfic.

Feel free to PM me on the Forum (TeamJacobEdward) or FF (TJE) if you ever want to. :)

        • operarose

You’re not alone, TJE. I buy into the jokes about BD because it can be funny (especially when we poke fun at feathers/fade to sad/birth/Jacob falling in love with an infant — it’s important to not take the saga too seriously, after all, otherwise we’d end up like TwiMoms or Krisbians – Twisbians?!), but in all seriousness I enjoyed BD.

Generally, I loved the happy ending. I actually felt that the fact that there was no massive Jedi-style battle scene was a relief. Sure I thought it sort of dragged in areas but I couldn’t complain, I wanted the saga to last as long as possible. There were a few points where I thought the editors really dropped the ball and the story wasn’t as tight as it could have been. But overall, I liked the fantasy aspect. I thought it was creative. The “high school drama” of the first three books had run its course, and so it was nice to have that glimpse into Bella as a vampire and as she starts out her family. I thought it really elevated the series from being stuck as a teenage love story to a bit of something more, something more in the fantasy realm. Annnnd as much as we may joke about it, I like that Jacob and Renesmee will end up together. (And I’d love to read a sequel from Jacob’s POV later on. Or hate. I’d HATE to read that!!!! *winkwink*)

          • TeamSeth

            Twisbians? Yum…

          • Stella

i kinda agree and i also LOVED the saga, don’t get me wrong….BUT i already have kids and a so called “grown up” life. so for me the fantasy eneded as soon as she was prego. i am just thankful for lolashoes for giving us a romantic/no baby end to the book. now that is my kinda fantasy!!

        • TeamSeth

No, it was my fave book. I’ve started rereading it too. Can’t wait to get past the wedding and honeymoon. Is it normal that I like seeing the world from a vampire mindset? Bella’s just so much cooler as a vampire imo. And I just can’t relate to her being nervous about having sex with Rob Edward.

          • Bea

Seeing the world through vampire eyes is why it’s my unicorn’s favorite.

          • TeamSeth

How can one NOT enjoy that there’s an extra color to the spectrum?!

          • operarose

I hear ya. I was actually pretty jealous that Bella a) had sex with Edward b) can see another color. *insert hate comment here directed towards Bella* (I’m too nice to actually call her a name)

        • eclipse22

hey TJE you’re not alone, i liked it too, didnt care for jacob pov at all but after the first time i kinda get why she used him to tell what was going on, plus it ties in well with end of 2nd part/imprinting, i love love book1! i was positively screaming no way no way, way WAY alternating with fits of giggle, tots didnt see the baby coming, although in hindsight it all makes so much sense, maybe it all ties in to neat and that irks some people but i was happy enough with the end results
and mostly edward after being alone for 100yrs gets a wife&kid&…son-in-law*
bella gets true love husband, kid and keeps her bff & her dad
the cullens get a grdkid, rosalie/alice gets a niece/barbie doll(will never be the same), their one member is no longer a brooding celibate for life, they can stop worrying if he’s a normal vamp or not
nobody died at the end(sure would have been better but i accept it after initial disappointment “huh?”

really my only peave after reading that huge book was “reallyyyyy reallly stephenie after two weeks zinging through twi new moon eclipse like a madman possessed u fade to black? whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy….

  • P.S.

This photo of Xavier, wow. You know in the movie after Seth tore Riley to pieces they never burned him, so technically he could come back.

  • Stacey

Umm…that video with the Chicago Hope guy and Rob…I am so confused right now. Not my normal everyday confused. What the heck was that?

    • P.S.

I didn’t understand a thing they were talking about! It was still fun to watch Rob.

    • Bea

I was confused until linked to this explanation from the school’s website: http://www.taftschool.org/news/video.aspx?storyname=headholiday10
Evidently the headmaster of this boarding school calls a surprise day off once a year and is supposed to announce it in a creative way.

      • Ms. J

Thanks Bea – you really did your research. I’m sure we were all like – WTH is he talking about??? Of course, I could just listen to Rob talk all day about nothing in particular, just love his voice.

        • Bea

No actual research, just clicked through from where I originally saw it… no idea where that was, though.

    • kitkat

Thanks Bea, because like Stacey I was suuuuper confused and not sure if I was just out of the loop. Good to know I’m still “normal”.

    • yertlesmom

What is great is that I was recently promoted to be Head of School at a private school (yes, a headmistress instead of a headmaster, but whatever). I LOVED the video–I thought it was Rob’s personal message to me! HAHAHAHAHA

  • TeamJacobEdward

    - hahaha Bronson looks like, “hell yeah I did it and it was an effing blast.”

    - Hard to tell if Erik Odom is hot or not. There are several Twi cast that upon first being cast with nothing more than peer much a snap shot I thought, “meh” then changed my mind. Right now I think he looks like a cute, non-sexy little brother of Xavier. Oh and Peter doesn’t have any special extra powers. Peter is with Charlotte and its Jasper’s friend. Peter escaped Maria with Charlotte when Jasper was told to kill Charlotte and then Jasper joined them for awhile before finding Alice.

    - Holy eff that pic of Xavier is hooooot. He’s delicious. Heeey Xavier. How YOU doin’? Seriously Moon, jealous that that kind of hotness was just a stone’s throw from your place….

    - Fake sex in Brazil, huh? Yeah, I guess I don’t care WHERE the fake sex happens so long as it is hooooot and there are sexy feathers dancing around them with Edward’s animalistic groans of passion and restraint as he tries to not kill Bella. And then later with headboard pieces breaking off under a strained hand, scattering around with the same soundtrack only adding the sound of the breaking headboard…..

    Hmmmmm… On that note…

    • Stacey

I wish Xavier could come back for Breaking Dawn. Even for a little flaskback. That would be good enough for me!

Everytime, I think about the feathers and the Isle of Esme scenes, I think about how between takes Rob is probably giggling like a school girl. That just makes me smile and think about how he MUST do the commentary for the DVD.

      • Bea

Hahaha, his commentary on that scene would be priceless! That’s going to be my happy thought today.

      • TeamJacobEdward

That would be good. Sign me up for a Riley flashback. Edward could have some flashback montage of all the ways hew almost lost Bella when he’s trying to save her: James, Laurant, Italy, Victoria, Riley. Yep like it.

OMG! Commentary alone with Ron and Kristen (and Taylor) would be awesome. Twilight commentary proved that. But Rob and Kristen commenting on Isle Esme? Epic! I can feel the awkwardness now. Oh I hope, I hope, I hope! The only down side is we won’t have the cougarita telling them how watching them gets her going… That was awesome

      • kitkat

Anyone know who’s commenting on Eclipse? Once again, far too lazy to do my own research…

        • soldiersarah

rob and kristen doing one, and another with stephenie and producer wyck godfrey.

          • TeamJacobEdward

Are you serious? I think my head just fursploded! Really? Really, really? :D squee!

I missed Rob / Kristen commentary hard core in NM. They so should have MADE their and Taylor’s (note I so started typing “Jacob”) schedules work to do the commentary. The DILF was good and all, but I loved watching Twi listening to the commentary with Rob and Kristen. It was hilarious epicness.

  • Midnight_Cyn

Happy Monday Morning everyone! I wasn’t going to comment this morning b/c I really dont know much about BD characters etc., but then I saw this and thought I would share… Kristen Stewart is #1 trending on Yahoo for this statement:
“Nothing about being a celebrity is desirable,” she said. “I’m an actor. It’s bizarre to me that everybody’s so obsessive. “I don’t want to be a movie star like Angelina Jolie.”
Dimewars.com(?) replied to her statement with this:
“Hey Kristen stewart, we don’t think you have a chance in hell of ever being a movie star like Angelina Jolie, so you don’t have to worry your pretty face about that.”

I am always trying to defend Kristen for several reasons, but to be honest, I am getting tired of it all. At some point (like with my own kids) I just want to say, “stop complaining and deal with it”…

Hope everyone had a great Halloween! :)

    • JodieO

I used to try defending her, too. Now I just kinda want to roll my eyes at her and tell her to quit her whining. Go to college or learn to direct or something. Sheesh!

    • JodieO

PS. Get yourself back on Twitter if you can’t get gmail to work. I miss you!

      • Midnight_Cyn

Trust me when I say be glad I can’t get on Gmail and that I am staying away from Twitter… (but I miss you too)

        • JodieO

Why? What’s going on? Are you ok?

    • TeamSeth

I agree with them (dimewar?) because I think she’ll go the route of Kiera Knightly more than Angelina Jolie.

    • eatmyjorts

I can see Kristen retiring from acting pretty young, & working on the other side of the camera, like the rest of her family. Not her fault she finds it hard, we’re not all wired the same, or can learn to endure the same things. I say mercy on the Stew!

  • Bea

    1. Thanks for a Halloween costume with no purpose but to bring attention to your crotch, Bronson. Keepin’ it classy.
    2. Heeeyyy Xavier… You’re still sexy with a cigarette in your mouth, and I’m allergic to smoke. Dang I’m gonna miss you in this one. Is there no hope for resurrecting Riley? Could we just cast you as a different vamp this time around?
    3. The girl playing Tanya… how do you have a nose that small and still show that much nostril in pictures? I’m gonna hope it was just that picture…

  • soldiersarah

    completly off topic, sorry.
anyone else noticed that when there talking about filming brazil they keep including taylor L?
is this just a mistake, or has melissa really screwed this script up!!
for what reason whould jacob have to crash bellas honeymoon?
    aghhh, so many questions!
    http://www.breakingdawnmovie.org/breaking-dawn-filming-news/

    • Stacey

When I just read your comment all I could think, “OMG! They are going to have Jacob WATCH Bella and Edward during the honeymoon!” That would really add to the drama. Hmm…that could be interesting…and not at all like the book.

Ohh…and then the rest of the wolfpack would see it and then poor Seth would yell, “Oh no! My eyes!” or he would get some unwanted sex-ed. I need to stop. I am having too much fun with this idea.

      • soldiersarah

        ok, coffee everywhere!!
im thinking of a really good fanfic story out of that one!!
        thanx for lols!

      • yertlesmom

OMG – funniest comment of the day-having Jacob watch the honeymoon. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    • LatersBaby

He’s working on his russet tan.

    • TeamJacobEdward

@SS: Dear god I hope that the press / MelMel us mixing up the wedding reception with the honeymoon because NO ONE better mess with my Isle Esme schmexy Edward/Bella alone time!!

@Stacey: “Oh no! My eyes!” HEHEHE!!! WIN!

    • Sj

Maybe they’re splicing in some FF, I’m pretty sure I came across a FF that had Jacob finding Eds standing in the ocean. And besides, Bella took so damn long getting into her ‘smalls’ on the honeymoon first night Edward had to do something to pass the time.

  • Pingback: Tweets that mention Letters to Twilight -- Topsy.com

  • operarose

So, who are these characters again? I can’t believe I’ve read Breaking Dawn 4 times (I think) and have no idea who “Peter” is. All I remember is the wedding (“I was home”) and the honeymoon (fade to sad) and the rest included a lot of words punctuated by a few hot and passionate “fade to blacks”.

I do know that Brazil is really far away. I’ve been there once, and to South America twice, and trust me it’s a long flight. I hope Kristen and Rob (and Taylor) find something entertaining to do on that long overnight flight. They might want to peruse some fan fiction to get a few ideas.

Also, Rio is dangerous especially for out of towners like themselves. However, drug cartels are probably not nearly as scary as Krisbians.

  • Ash Frag

I’m down for re-reading BD, maybe it’ll re-kindle my love for the series again. See, like UC, I’m in a bit of a Twi-slump. I’m ready to get this shiz on again and bury my face in that book.

Also, that new guy? So not hot. Maybe homeroom hot, but not Xavier hot. Or Daniel Cudmore hot.

    Let’s DO this.

    -Ash

    • TeamSeth

high five on the Cuddley! mmm

  • JodieO

Please don’t make me read Breaking Dawn again. I read it three times and that was two and a half too many.

  • TeamSeth

Maybe it’s been asked, but who the HELL is Peter?

I can’t decide either… maybe if Erik was “done up” and not in a loose fitting Old Navy tee with a sophomore in college haircut it’d be easier to tell if he had true cute potential. Maybe he should start having photo shoots as often as Recastme-so-I’m-not-forever-shamed-as-the-demon-spawn. Then we could see him in a better outfit with ruffled hair and a sex face… you know, sort of like this or , but less hot.

    • TeamSeth

linking fail. Oh well. Second link was supposed to have the word “this” not what it is… but it still works :)

    • JodieO

Isn’t Peter that guy that was friends with Jasper? They escaped Maria together?

      • http://mainericefamily.blogspot.com no cool name

I feel like he’s part of a couple…Charlotte and Peter, maybe? That’s about all I can remember.

Are you still going to the Bobby Long show in Portland? It’s coming up, right? I named a character in my fanfic Bobby Long…heehee.

        • claire’s mommy

He is in fact the Peter of Charlotte and Peter. Jasper was supposed to “get rid” of Charlotte, but Peter flipped out and he and Charlotte took off. Then I *think* Jasper left Maria and me tup with them somewhere north, like Chicago or Pennsylvania or something.

Just call me nerd. It’s ok.

          • TeamJacobEdward

Well we can have a nerd party because I knew that too and mentioned it above.

            That’s Normal knowing that stuff.

        • TeamSeth

My Portland or your Portland? And…yes, it’s Charlotte (I read when I was looking at that pic of the Erik dude). I didn’t know the details like Claire though. But… I seem to remember that they are in the first book. They come to town for a little visit and Edward’s all “Don’t go in the woods, Beller! They’re not bears, they’re crazy human eating vampires that we’re friends with.” and she’s all, “Well, I have to accept that I don’t care, it does not matter that you’re a vampire while sitting alone in the cold, damp ground of the woods. Sheesh.” and he follows his nose and gets all pissy that she went in the woods even though Charlotte and Peter promise to only hunt towards Seattle (and besides, if they weren’t there for more than 2 weeks, why would they need to hunt anyway?!)

So, yeah. Wow, how did I remember all of that just off of Claire’s Mommy’s comment? Normal.

        • JodieO

The show is this coming weekend and sadly the show is sold out. =( Know anyone with connections at the State Theater? I’m still willing to make the drive!

  • Bella_NaA

When they say they’re filming in Brazil in november they actually mean december, right? Because that’s when I’ll be there – my one opportunity for set stalking… Daaaaang! :-(

    • Bea

Ahhh! So close and yet so far!

    • P.S.

Maybe if you’re lucky, Rob will giggle so much in between the honeymoon scenes that filming will take twice as long as expected.

  • Janetrigs

I will only re-read that book, if I can do dramatic drunk readings with Sydney playing the role of devil baby spawn.

  • BrookeLockart

Umm, so I remember Peter because he was Dom Edward’s mentor…and then I remember how Peter was Jasper’s friend from his days with Maria.

Please love me that my first thought was Fan ficton.

    • LatersBaby

Yes! My first thoughts of “who is Peter” went to the Fan Fic Peters.

  • eclipse22

    hey off topic
i just finished reading “water for elephants” couldnt put it down , had a sleepless night doing so! have any of u read it? now i’m excited to see the film
also has anyone read “on the road” thinking of buying it?
back on topic i know the film comes out in a yr but i think i’ll read BD again too, to keep up with film production, right now all the casting is flying over my head except for renesmee duh, i remember spending a good 5mn wondering who the hell was that girl who was cast as a denali …oh shit right that’s the one who went and blab her mouth off to the volturi!!

    • Stacey

You mean Shannon from Lost playing Irina? My only interest in that was she played Somerhalder’s step sister on that show. Made my Twilight/Vamp Di circle complete. You know what would be cool…Laurent in a flashback with Irina. From my mouth to Rosenberg’s ear..

Oh and Tracy Morgan didn’t get the part of Jenks. The guy from The Wire and Treme did. He’s good on those shows, so I can see it. (But Tracy Morgan would have been EPIC)

    • TeamSeth

On The Road is great! (said in claire de lune is great voice) It really is… it’s a fun tale of youth and meaning in life and a great glimpse at a generation of artists. Very… Kerouac in style (but not quite as tangent-y and rambling as Dharma Bums).

      I definitely recommend it!

    • TeamJacobEdward

Oh yes! I read WFE last year per recommendation from a friend at work. I’ve been pushing the book onto my friends and family since. It was just so interesting. I’m super excited for WFE to come out in theaters too. Plus Rob is in it, so, bonus. ;)

Has anyone read the author’s new book, “The Ape House”? That’s one of the books that keep starting at me in the store. I keep picking it up debating but I haven’t bought up yet.

What is it about without giving away the ending/major plot twists? Just general premise and potentially the theme.

I did read Ape House since I loved Water for Elephants so much. I don’t think it was as good was but it wasn’t bad. Quite an interesting story but I didn’t get as invested in the characters. I SO can’t wait till Water for Elephants comes out. I read it awhile ago and then recently after I knew Rob was playing Jacob and I can definitely see him in the role. SO looking forward to the movie!

I have nothing of importance to add, but wanted to comment none-the-less. We still have a year or more until the movie comes out – plenty of time for a BD or whole saga re-read.

OT – I’m trying to intersperse my reading with some “classics.” I just finished “Sense and Sensibility” and have just started “Pride and Prejudice” which I had attempted to read when I was 12, but just couldn’t get through it.
I like it a lot, but I’m thinking that this might be the sole case (for me at least) of being glad that I saw the movie before reading the book. I’m loving that every time Mr. Darcy is mentioned, I picture Matthew McFadden appearing out of the fog in the field, in that coat that makes him look hella sexy, and makes me wish that I was Lizzy about to be swept off my feet and carried off….where was I?
Oh yes, I’m liking the book :)

    • TeamSeth

I think you were either about to say something about like: I love you, most ardently. OR you were about to say: You have bewitched me body and soul and I love, I love, I love you. And I never wish to be parted from you from this day forward.

Maybe? Possibly? Oh, lulu, I’ve been so blind… perhaps Mr. Collins has a cousin?

    • Sj

A P&P virgin in the process of handing in your card!! Oh you lucky lucky thing. You have to update us on your thoughts of it, its been so long since I handed in that card I can’t remember life beforehand. I have to say I would probably take Mr D over Jacob, but only because of the house.

      • Luludee

Mr. D’s house (in the movie at least) would definitely give the Cullen’s house a run for it’s money. And Jacob’s shack just can’t compare.

A mission? Aye-aye Captain! I will include some P&P thoughts in my comments as I progress through the book. :)

I fell in love with Pride and Prejudice in my high school Great Lit class.

After you’ve finished the book if you want to watch the movie, watch the A&E (1995 – I think) version with Colin Firth. It’s 5 hours long but worth it. It stays very true to the book…well as true as you can with adaptations. I love that movie. Oh Mr Darcy….. *happy sigh* It was this movie that I fell into lust with Collin Firth.

(Hey TS! Is Collin Firth obscure enough of a crush?)

There is a newer, shorter version of P&P with Kira Knightly (sp?) but it doesn’t do the book justice. The A&E version is so much better.

      • Luludee

Yes, I have heard many wonderful things about the A&E version. I think one of my friend’s has it on DVD actually. I plan on watching it at some point.

I have seen the newer version with Kiera Knightly several times. I know it will end up not doing the book justice, but since I am just now reading the book, I couldn’t ever complain! I quite love it in fact, but I’m very excited to be reading the book now :)

I love both the book and that movie. They are obviously different (um, where’s the two other characters with the Darcy/Bingley crew?), but I think it holds true enough while slightly modernizing it (i.e. Lizzie travels alone to visit Charlotte–that would’ve NEVER happened then, way too dangerous) If you haven’t already, you should watch the commentary w/ Joe Wright the director. It’s quite informative and even though he’s, um, sort of boring, I still will reference back to things he said when I’m watching–or appreciate a scene more. And I even help Mr. Seth learn a new film editing technique based on the commentary! lol Seriously though, I love that version. I watch it almost every 2 weeks. Whenever I feel sad, homesick, lonely or blase, I put it in and it’s like an automatic good feeling. It’s like my own personal brand of heroine…

          • TeamSeth

I just realized that I didn’t have to look up who the director was. #normal.

      • Sj

Colin Firth and the lake. Thud. The open wet shirt comp. has a winner folks.

        • TeamJacobEdward

Oh yes… Thud is right my dear. Thus is right.

Whoever thought up that scene better have gotten a nice bonus check because it was well deserved.

          AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • TeamSeth

Hey TS! Is Collin Firth obscure enough of a crush?)

I don’t know. I don’t think so. He’s in like… almost every romantic comedy coming out of Britain that’s aimed at Americans I’ve ever seen. That said, CRUSH ON, GIRL! I particularly like him in Love Actually. However, I will say that he was too old for the girl/his friends’ ages in that film. They were all 15-25 years younger than him. It was… a bad cast agewise. Either up his friends’ ages or cast a younger person. I <3 Colin, but even Cary Grant knew when to play the dad role versus the leading male with a leading female who was young enough to be his kid. (thank you, PBS American Masters) Colin's 50 this year! Craziness.

I had the same idea, Lulu. I just read Pride and Prejudice for the first time. I actually saw the movie with Kira nightly first. I don’t think it was bad compared to the book. I actually like the scene in the movie in the field at Dawn mentioned above better than in the end of the book. Next on my list is Sense and Sensibility after I finish the Percy Jackson series I promised my daughter I would read. Not bad. I’ve also read the Hunger Games series. I will also have to add WFE.

Dang, I better get busy. When is the movie come out?

      • TeamSeth

I started S&S, but it was so slow at first! Now I am reading Tinkers. It’s okay. It won the Pulitzer this year, and the author bio says, “Paul Harding lives in boston with his wife and 2 sons. He received his MFA at the Iowa Writer’s Workshop. Tra la la. This is his first novel.” AND IT WON THE EFFING PULITZER PRIZE! Where’s the hope for the rest of us writers?! sigh. deep breaths.

        • Luludee

I’m finding that I like P&P much more than S&S, which is good. I was worried I might be a bit bored (because that’s what happened the first time I tried to read it) but it’s quite the opposite in fact.
It moves faster and has a more interesting plot. It took me awhile to read S&S…it was a bit of a chore at times. I watched the S&S movie the other night (with Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet) and even it was a bit boring.
I seem to recall reading either in the Afterword of my version of S&S or on Goodreads that S&S was one of Jane’s first novels and so it’s a bit less polished than some of her other works. Perhaps that’s why it seems a bit dull.

      • Luludee

According to IMDB, WFE will be released on April 15, 2011 in the US.
I’m glad you mentioned it because it’s on my reading list and I’m going to be taking advantage of my free Thanksgiving week+2 days in a car+1 day flying back to read as much as I can! I’m already planning on either a visit to the library or book store to get the Hunger Games trilogy. Now I can add WFE to the list!
