Books Stephenie should write, other than Midnight Sun

One of these days I won’t work 12 hours & I’ll actually be able to write my own LTTs. Until then, thank God for LTT friends who write amazing letters for us. Today, hear from The Plane Friend- the friend I met, on a plane, in college (and reconnected with via LTT!)

I'm a fangirl!

Dear Stephenie,

I have to admit that it’s really bizarre to address a letter to you. I’ve never written to an author before, despite how much I computer-stalk all their web sites, blogs, and interviews. It’s even more unbelievable to me that I’m going to write one of my favorite authors under the moniker of The Plane Friend…and on a fan site.

As I sat down to write this, I thought about all the ways I could go with this letter, my first addressed to you: a real live, uber-successful author, which is what I have dreamed of being since I was a teenager. I could embarrass myself (and garner some second-hand embarrassment) by gushing like the fan-girl I am, but I doubted UC would publish that—even if we are long-lost friends—because I know it wouldn’t be worth reading. I also considered asking you all the questions I’d ask if I were going to interview you (none of which would be the “did you really come up with Twilight from a dream?” question). Since it’s unlikely you’d respond in the comment section, though, I figured it wouldn’t be nice to give everyone at LTT even more things to ponder over.

But as I considered these and all the other options, I decided on a shocking confession (because you care about the confessions of women you’ve never met, right?) and some writing prompts. Because I KNOW that you, NY Times Bestselling author of a saga we all love, needs writing help from a fan you’ve never met. (Ha—I can barely type for laughing at myself). Because why wouldn’t you want writing advice from a stranger who is still hounding literary agents to consider her first attempt at a book? So, here goes.

Meh

My shocking confession: I don’t care if you ever finish Midnight Sun or not.

Don’t get me wrong, I loved the first 267 pages. I would read the rest writhing with unadulterated glee the whole time. I would love to spend more time in Edward’s head, because, like everyone else here, I’m kinda in love with him. But I assume I’m in the huge minority of your fan base who would much rather read a sequel to Breaking Dawn than ever get my hands on any more of Midnight Sun. (I know, I know, LTT readers, you think I’m insane. You want to throw rotten tomatoes at me [or worse!] But just hear me out).

While listening to all the sound clips from the Eclipse fan-junket interview, I was flipping out when I listened to your plans for continuing the story. There were just so many potential great scenes I could come up with for a book narrated by Nessie and Leah, so I can’t even imagine what mind-blowing ideas you have. Plus, Leah is probably my favorite female character in your books—Alice running a close second and Bella a distant third, in case anyone is interested—so I’d really love to hang out with her again. I know that I’m probably WAY on the margins of your fan base here with my affinity for Leah, but I like girls that aren’t apologetic about being in touch with their angry side and, whatever, people are different. I mean, most of the people on this site think Rob Pattison is like the hottest guy in the universe. When I see his interviews, I think he’s hilarious, but he just doesn’t do it for me. He doesn’t hold a candle to the Edward in my head…who, conveniently, looks a lot more like my husband than Rob.
But I digress.

So back to my other point: writing prompts. These were the scenes I was imagining when thinking of this sequel, and I thought I’d share them, just in case they sparked some kind of revival inside you that made you want to write about your vampires again soon. (Ok, I know I’m dreaming here, but you can’t blame a girl for trying, right?)

I'm tired of being alone. Please Stephenie. Please!

Some potential scenes:

  • The Cullens, (which now include vampire-Bella and a teenage/grown Nessie) in high school again. Now, not only does Edward have to endure the vulgar minds of high school boys, he has to listen to them drone on about his wife—and his daughter—and somehow not kill them.
  • A grown-up Nessie falling in love with Jacob/Nahuel/other guy we’ve never met….and having her FATHER be able to read her mind and know everything she has done, thought about doing, or plans to do with this guy. (Oh, the horror! Can we all breathe a collective “Thank you, God!” here that our fathers can’t read our minds?)
  • Nessie and said romantic interest somewhere near-by, and when Edward tries to “listen” in, Bella shields them…and Nessie gets to hear the resulting conversation between her parents. Because that would be funny.
  • Having someone imprint on Leah. Because I’d love to know what that girl would do with a love- sick virtual slave. OR:
  • Leah imprinting on someone. Because you might have to give her a personality transplant.
  • Alice having a vision of their after-life as one possible outcome to a Volturi threat, so that the Cullens know that there is something else out there for them after they die. (But please don’t kill Alice! You can kill Lauren, Jessica, or Rosalie if someone has to go).
  • Jacob getting Nessie pregnant with some strange vampire/werewolf hybrid, because we all want to know what in the world that child would be (and who it could destroy!)
  • Rosalie and/or Leah’s reaction to Nessie having a baby…because I bet both of them would have some severe issues with it. (Hmm, could Rosalie try to steal this kid? I really expected her to try to kill off Bella in BD at one point to try to steal Nessie, so I’m just waiting for “Ice Cold Barbie” to snap.)
  • The Cullens and their friends taking out the Volturi, vigilante-style. Because Aro and Jane, at least, really have it coming.

So what do you think? Any chance we’ll see another vampire book on the shelves sometime? You can steal any of the above ideas you like without crediting me. Or, you know, you could just use all your own ideas, which, I am sure, are much better than mine anyway.

In all seriousness (despite this being LTT where seriousness is thin on the ground sometimes), I don’t care if you write this book next or in ten years, but I’d really, really like to read it. So what do you say? Can we have a BD sequel someday? Please?

Love, adoration, and begging from,

The Plane Friend

P.S. You know, if you ever wrote this book, no one here would mind if you could convince Summit, Robsten, Taylor, & co. to make it into another Twilight movie, either :) . Just a thought.

What story do you wish Stephenie would write (other than Midnight Sun!?) I’m going to go with a cliche & say I’d like to read Jasper & Alice’s love story the most!

Yes, yes, yes!! All Excellent ideas – especially the one about Edward having to “listen in” on poor Nessie’s Jake fantasies – they would both hate that. And it would be hilarious.

Piggybacking off The Plane Friend and tapping into my own Fangirl ESP, I feel a strong affinity to the story of the strange vampire/werewolf hybrid baby. A boy whose personality is the OPPOSITE of the wolves and the Cullens. A BAAAD BOY. OOOooohhhhh I could just envision this story (too bad I’m not into the FF or an FF writer #gotsmeowncharacters.) Or maybe some little bad ass twins or triplets…Our twi creator is so noble, cause if it were me, I would Milk this vampire ish till it was DRY. A new novella every month. A story on Edward’s mama’s cousin’s baby daddy, anyone?

Hale yes a Jasper and Alice novella/book/series! That would be awesome

      A must

Dadward sez: “Ima punch Jacob in his russet hot nuts!”
BellaMom sez: “Dude. Don’t you think you’ve done enough cockblocking in your life?”
Dadward: heavy sigh “Fine. Let’s run to Alaska and shag so I don’t have to hear this.”
BellaMom: *swirling dust and papers flying in her superfast wake* “Beat you there!”

  • operarose

Wow TPF, I could have written this! I am also in the minority in that I’d rather read a BD sequel than MS. (Stephenie, if you’re reading, I actually mean that I’d NEVER want to read either one! So there!)

I think that a sequel would be a lot of fun. There are a lot of directions it could take. I have a feeling we aren’t finished with the Twilight world, especially after there were a few loose ends left at the end of BD. I really connected with Jacob and Leah in BD, so while I don’t feel I need more of Bella and Edward I think a sequel (or two!) starring Nessie (yes, seriously, I know we didn’t love her in BD but I think she has potential) and Jacob could be really awesome. Bottom line, I’d just love to escape into the Twi world again, so really I’d read anything, but I’d love to see the series continue a little bit.

    • operarose

By the way by saying “I could have written this” I really meant you said everything that’s on my mind… but I wouldn’t presume to believe I could have written some of your awesome ideas for a sequel.

The moments when Edward listens in on his daughter…hilarious.

  • operarose

OT, can I just mention that the illustrated guide which showed up in my mailbox yesterday is rather larger and more extensive than I imagined? Although I’d stop short of calling it a must-have, it is surprisingly cooler (in a geeky way) than I expected. I can see why it took a while to make.

    • http://www.examiner.com/twilight-in-national/breaking-dawn-fan-art-picture-2 natteringyeahrobber

I received mine yesterday (a day early, woo-hoo). As predicted, my assistant opened the package for me (thanks!!) and walked it over to my desk, exposing the book title to at least 6 attorneys who were all standing near my desk at the time. I tried to tell her I ordered it “for my kid” and she pretended to go along with it. I started reading the first part last night but was like “enough author-circle-jerk” and skipped to the back (music recommmendations for each book). I was surprised at her recommendations – way more interesting than expected. The illustrations are lovely, too, wish there were more of them. Looking forward to a glass of wine and finishing the book when I get home.

    • Anonymous

Dang it! Mine won’t arrive until tomorrow.

    • Anonymous

Update: I’m making my way through it this weekend (picking it up in between this and that)… so far it’s pretty interesting. There’s nothing majorly new except *spoilerish* more of an Alice backstory than we’ve seen before.

It’s all good except for aforementioned comment above re: Stephenie constantly referring to childbirth as horrifying, that combined with details on how vampires can procreate and a recount of how Renesmee entered the world are the only parts of the book that have made me queasy.

  • Anonymous

I’d read all of it gleefully, but I agree that Leah is pretty darn intriguing. If you cheat on Stephenie with fanfic, there’s an interesting, well-written BD sequel about her here: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4434193/1/Cowboys_Indians (there’s a sequel to the story too). It’s stylistically Native and gets you lots of Jasper and some Alice as a bonus.
Speaking of that other book that Stephenie did actually write, I may or may not have spent a good chunk of my precious time when grandma had the toddler yesterday standing in B&N skimming the Illustrated Guide instead of doing important, last minute, pre-baby errands. Can neither confirm nor deny. But I will say that a woman who’s 41 weeks pregnant looks a bit conspicuous skulking around the YA section.

    • Anonymous

Yeah, the cheating fanfic stuff . . . a lot of these plot lines have been written, some very well indeed, in fanfics. I don’t know if the fact that others have followed through on these ideas already is a disincentive for Stephenie, or whether she feels challenged to show them she can do much much better with her own characters? Or perhaps she wisely ignores the whole fanfic phenomenon.

    • Anonymous

41 weeks, are you serious? Poor thing. My second was 11 days late. My parents flew out 3 days before she was due. Thankfully they got to see her a few hours before they had to catch their flight.

      • Anonymous

P.S. Thanks for the fanfic recommend

      • Anonymous

I remember being huuuuuge, and in line at the deli. Some dude goes, when are you due? And I said, with a big grin: “Today!” and everyone in the store took a step back, like: “She’s gonna blow!”

At 41 weeks the dr. did something unpleasant that rhymes with “pipped my pembranes” and it was Game On. Soo…with that TMI: Good Luck!

Sssh. I’ll speak in riddle too so as not to scare people with tabor lawk. With #2 my troncactions never came, so my bemranes were quipped too. Doctor ginrooced me with flitocin, which finally worked. Punjuckingfleasant.

But no kidsplosion or Edward scissor-teeth necessary, so all good in the end.

          • TeamSeth

At first I thought kidsplosion was still in riddle…

          • Anonymous

Had the same experience. You took the words right out of my mouth.

          • Anonymous

I have heard flitocin is quite Punjuckingfleasant. Yikes.

Honestly, the rest of it was kind of fun. Not as an everyday sort of thing, but more in a ZenSuperLaserFocus and then “fuck yeah I just did that! woooo! In your FACE!”

          • http://www.examiner.com/twilight-in-national/breaking-dawn-fan-art-picture-2 natteringyeahrobber

Flitocin is to be avoided if flossible. Plus it made my floobs fligantic due to water fletention. Not to mention my flankles. Oof. The rest…not so much “fun” (thanks again flitocin) but I wouldn’t say “horror” (did you read the Twi Illustrated Guide yet – SM keeps using the word horror near the word childbirth, I guess her experience was not as flun). But anyhow, I will say that it was pretty flawesome overall.

          • Anonymous

You guys are killing me with the giggles over here. Narrowly avoided “flitocin” last time and hoping to do so again this time. Thankfully I have lovely midwives to work with who are on board with me doing so (with reason, of course).
Yeah, SM’s horror-story childbirth… I need to write a post about how I got pregnant the first time and found out I was pregnant the second both right after my two readings of Breaking Dawn. I think fear of another baby sooner than I’d like will keep me from any further re-reads before the movie comes out. I did do some selective re-reading during this pregnancy, and that’s a whole ‘nother post: reading about Bella’s pregnancy while pregnant. Inadvisable. Fortunately, like MNS, I had a good enough experience the first time around that I’m not easily freaked out.

          • Anonymous

Although I am unreasonably paranoid about abruptio placenta. Thanks Stephenie.

          • Anonymous

actually BD has already given me nightmares about being pregnant… and I am not nor have ever been pregnant thus far.

Duly noted that I am to avoid that book one day when I am!

          • Anonymous

okay, I was just going to say. I’ve been reading the guide all day today and have started to cringe and want to cry whenever I see her refer to childbirth as “horror”.

I am nearing that age where I’m going to want to have children soon and am NOT looking forward to that particular experience.

On the other hand, I have to say that I am quite glad to see you gals are (generally) good-naturedely talking about it. Makes me have some faith that this is an experience I could survive.

            Good luck BeaDee! :)

          • natteringyeahrobber

You’ll survive. I really loved being pregnant, actually – wish I could do it again. Labor is pretty wacky and weird, but you’ll get through it and the payoff is immense – the moment you see your child for the first time is pretty amazing.

          • Anonymous

You will totally survive. It’s kind of awesome, actually. I wish I could do it again.

My mother is a Labor and Delivery nurse in Boston, so has seen thousands of births. You know the kicking, screaming, swearing, horrible birth scenes they show in movies and TV? Doesn’t happen. She says about 2% of mothers scream, and she suspects even some of those are sort of playing by a script.

Not that there aren’t…uh…noises, but it’s not nearly as horrific as they make out most of the time. And even if it is, it’s like, a day. One day, and then there is this teeny little thing that is yours to keep and is crazy adorable. And one day, you will be riding in your car and “Punk Rock Girl” by the Dead Milkmen will come on your iPod, and you will hear your six year old singing along, and your heart will swell 3 sizes that day.

        • Anonymous

          “pipped my pembranes” – lmao!

      • Anonymous

Aw, thanks you guys. I’m just now starting to get tired of waiting, but seriously, if one more person asks how I’m feeling or looks at me like I’m a ticking time bomb I may scream. And I’m no longer answering the phone when my grandfather calls daily to see if I’m in labor.

    • Anonymous

LOL! I don’t feel like I’m cheating on Twi with FF. To me it’s like reading a completely different story unrelated to Twi with most of them. They just have the same names and some if the same personality characteristics as my most loved characters and it makes it comforting to me.

Good luck with the baby! I had one I was over due with. People asked me, “oh, when are you due?” I’d reply, “5 days ago.” Their eyes would go HUGE and they’d look at me with panic in their eyes, like, “PLEASE don’t labor now.PLEASE not now.” as they slowly back away thinking, “Run. Run away. Don’t look back. Just go.”

      • http://www.examiner.com/twilight-in-national/breaking-dawn-fan-art-picture-2 natteringyeahrobber

I love how when you are pregnant, people give you all sorts of special attention and go out of their way to be nice and chat you up. When you are pregnant, you are often treated like a goddess just because you happen to be the vessel for a baby (not complaining – I got great service at restaurants, and rarely had to wait in line to pee). But then once you go even 1 day overdue, people run from you as if you were about to drop water on their new loafers or something. And then your social life dies. People stop calling you over for dinner because they are afraid you’ll ruin their couch or deliver all over their front lawn.

Pregnant = nice, babies are rad
Overdue = RUN OR BE PREPARED TO CATCH THE BABY WITH YOUR BARE HANDS!!

        • Anonymous

When overdue with my first I had a childless man actually ask me to please not have my baby on his couch. DOESN’T WORK THAT WAY PEOPLE!

        • Anonymous

You WISH they’d just plop out unexpectedly! See above discussion of flitocin for more accurate description.

Oh, and don’t get me started on fanfiction descriptions of giving birth written by people who have had no experience in that department. One little contraction and everyone is falling all over themselves to get to the hospital! Try DAYS people, DAYS! Sorry.

Agreed. Most of FF is barely related to the actual story. While I WISH Edward and Jasper would have some sexyfuntimes, in-character well…I guess they wouldn’t…maybe.

        Eh. They might.

Anyway, I find it comforting, too. You just have to be choosy.

Also: we should start a side side called “At Least Bella Didn’t Puke For 6 Months Straight! Bitch Didn’t Even Have One Contraction!” and we can all talk about being pregnant. Actually, if I could have some one on one time with Steph, I would love to talk about those scenes and compare them to her own experiences. Because I am a nerd that way.

        • Anonymous

          Also: SPOILER ALERT:

That drawing of Renesmee in the Offical Guide Thing that I finally got today makes me want to punch her pudgy cheeks. Gleh.

          that is all.

        • Anonymous

Seriously want to read her internal monologues in a version where every time she brushes her teeth it makes her puke for four months straight.

          • Anonymous

SRSLY. Because what do you have to do right after you puke? That’s right. Brush Your Teeth Again. Stupid Baby and Her Poison Hormones of PoisonDeath.

I think the love triangle between the bab..fine…”Nessie”, Jacob and Nahuel would be interesting. It shakes up the whole concept of imprinting. Gives the kid a choice, between two emotionally stunted men. (I mean that in a good way. Jacob IS a teenage boy and Nahuel has ‘daddy issues’)

Even though a Leah book would be more interesting. She could be developed into a very strong and independent heroine (toning down the ‘cranky’ part a bit). Plus with a well rounded romantic interest would equal literary gold. Like some of us would have liked for Bella.

    • Bubs

Yep, another love triangle def. interesting. Will Jacob ever get “the girl” ? He’s still hanging at this stage….add Leah into the mix [I'm convinced she had the hots for Jacob-let's face it, she liked to "cop a look" when he phased back - pre clothes] and it could be “sigh” time for all Jacob fans [cause TL could take his shirt off again in the movie..... :-] ]. Ahhhh, the possibilities !!!!!

    • Anonymous

Ok, what if we had a love square? Like a Jake/Nessie/Nahuel/Leah conflict? I mean if one werewolf can be in love with a hybrid, why can’t another?

(But please don’t kill Alice! You can kill Lauren, Jessica, or Rosalie if someone has to go) – heehee

Good ideas, plane friend. I will be sad when the BD part 2 has come and gone, BUT at least Stephenie will have the time to write again.

I’m sorry, but I still think I would prefer to read all the books from Edward’s point of view, if Stephenie ever had the energy to write them (please, please, do it for me, I won’t tell anyone!)

But I think most of your plot lines will be excellent for the TV-series of Twilight, which I now see will obviously be a family sit-com with endless running jokes about the things Edward has to endure, listening in on his family and other people’s minds… Wonder if he will become “Dad” enough in his eternal 17-yearold state to make Dad-type jokes?

I agree to first paragraph (bit scared by the second…). I find Edward’s view (and Edward) more interesting than Bella’s. When I’ve re-read the books all his looks and silences are all the more intriguing

I think Leah should imprint on Felix. It just seems like the right thing–they both have this inferiority complex and overaggressive nature. The sex would be out of control… and there’s always that risk of him biting her/killing her. It’d be like…sexual tension ALWAYS. (and then maybe Cuddley wouldn’t keep dating Kristen and Rob would break up with Julia)

ROBLIA FOREVER! Their love will never die!

  • GeminiGypsy

Hell yes on the Alice & Jasper love story! I would have also enjoyed more Jacob interaction with the girl who knew cars in the city while he was dealing with his love for Bella in Breaking Dawn. I also think some more time with Seth would be fun- he’s so cute and funny! Also, perhaps a dark view of life from Felix or Demetri- but with some humor involved, and maybe they could fall in love with a human (and then they’ll become vegetarians for their true love). But really, I think if Stephenie just wrote any type of new book in general, I would be happy. Some people say that she doesn’t write well, or that Bella just complains all the time. I think she writes just fine, and I think that Bella complains as much as the average person- you just get to see more of her (since the books are from her point of view) and that’s much more than you get to see of the average person.

Hold the phone! Can we talk about the fact that Nikki Reed’s evidently dating some guy who just got booted from American Idol? Can someone who’s watching it fill the rest of us in so I don’t have to spend my day on YouTube figuring out who this guy is?

    • http://www.examiner.com/twilight-in-national/breaking-dawn-fan-art-picture-2 natteringyeahrobber

Yes, and she even had a cafeteria moment when she first saw him:

“Finally Paul McDonald, with all 32 teeth sparkling (assuming he still has his wisdoms in) walked my way. I turned red (duh), looked to the ground and told him I thought he should be the next American Idol, and that I needed to walk away because I was overwhelmed and speechless…and…well…I still may have not matured past the age of 12.”

Despite all my concerns I have with Edward reading minds and Jacob imprinted on the daughter of whom he used to love and have naughty thoughts about and Edward being able to heat the thoughts if Jacob and Renesmee when she matures and their thoughts are no longer innocent… No, actually I think that would be pretty entertaining. Plus I’m dying to know if Nessie and Jake can have a baby together. I guess yes, but only for a short time. When she’s like a “teenager” for like 6 mo or something. Then she’s unchanging forever and that’s it.

I still think the Volturi need to be taken out by the Cullens. Just because I like the thought of vampires for the rest of time say, “you don’t provoke the Cullens, unless you want to die.”

      Yes! That’s it.

I know Stephenie did a good job tying things up at the end of Breaking Dawn, but she did tease us with the possibility of the Cullens one day needing to overthrow the Volturi.

I don’t want to read much more about Bella and Edward, they were tied up so well. But Stephenie dangled these possible future stories in front of us: Jacob, Nessie, Leah, the Cullen vs. Volturi smackdown… I mean, when I go into the bookstore I will ALWAYS be thinking “I wonder if I’ll ever walk in here again to pick up a Twilight series sequel…”

  • oh werd?

*gasp!* blasphemy! Steph don’t listen! MS is priority! I don’t see her ever going beyond BD with the story, just because she wrapped it up so well. Maybe side stories (like Bree Tanner), or other POVs if we’re lucky, but nothing in the way of future Twistuffs. Because to her, that was the happy ending.

What I WOULD like to see would be SM writing FF. Sounds stupid, I know, but I’d like to see what she would do without her editors making her cut down on her humor, story length, etc. And then she could write whatever she wanted, sides, POVs, BD sequels, prequels, whatever! without being held back by the hassle of publishing a whole new book whenever she wanted to write.

    PS-personality transplant, LMAO, totally!

Oooh, maybe she DOES write fanfic! Interesting to speculate.

There’s another New Moon Extra on her website that she actually wrote to submit to a FF contest as a joke– Rosalie’s phone call to Edward in New Moon.

I should mention how hot Stephenie looks in that photo, all gothed out standing in front of the rock.

    ooh fun! speculations!

Jacob and Nessie are both in high school and a new girl develops a friendship with Jacob and starts getting suspcious and curious over Jake’s weird obsession with his girlfriend Nessie.

2nd plot line another big fight brewing between Cullens the other Covens because the volturi plot to pressure Edward and Bella into joining the Volturi due to their exceptional powers.

When they refuse the Volturi kidnap Nessie to blackmail them.

    Bulk of story centers around
    1. Bella and Edward trying to rescue Nessie and find out where the volturi have hidden her and 2. Jacob’s developing friendship with new girl who becomes embroiled with Jacob’s desperate attempts to free Nessie. (and in the process learns the vampire/werewolf secrets)

They finally find Nessie but unbelievably Nessie refuses to go with Jacob or her parents feeling that she belongs with the Volturi and that this is her purpose in life. Jacob, Edward and Bella feel that Nessie is under a vice like grip of control from a new member of the volturi who has ‘special powers’ of ‘influence’. The only way to break the ‘spell’ on Nessie is to kill the new Volturi member

They eventually are able to break thru the volturi’s defenses and get the new volturi member and threaten to kill him unless nessie is released from his influence (there’s a specific ritual that HE has to initiate without actually having to kill him)

Shocker is that it is not in fact the “influencer’s” effect on Nessie that caused her to stay. In fact as Aro explains, nessie’s shield is as strong as her mother’s. The real reason why Nessie refused to leave the volturi becomes apparent when one of the assistants walks in accompanied by a beautiful little girl who looks around 5 years old. The little girl is Jacob and Nessie’s wolf/vampire hybrid child. (No one even knew she was pregnant) All this time Nessie was simply protecting her child.

For reasons as yet unknown the wolf/vampire hybrid child poses dangers not only to the supernatural world but to the very fabric of all mankind….

I know when you asked what story we would like her to write, that you meant within the Twilight universe, but I gotta say that I’m really excited about one of her possible future projects. She said she’s been obsessed with mermaids since she was a kid and has an idea for like a huge novel about them. I think that would be all kinds of awesome. The only mermaid stories I know of are the Little Mermaid and Splash, and while I do love those stories, I would love a serious(?) mermaid story for grown-ups all the more.
I mean, there are tons of Vampire stories out there, both before and after Twilight hit the big time. But with nothing else to compete against on the subject of mermaids? DUDE. It has the potential to be bigger than Twilight. She could become the Ann Rice of mermaids – rewriting their mythology and forever impacting how they are thought of.
    DO IT STEPH!!

I am a new writer sometime I used the twilight as a guide to help me. But I also use Sue Grafton book and Janet Evanochic as a guide to keep myself in check. To get the flow of a story starting out.
