What everyone was really thinking at Comic Con 2012

Act excited…

Dear LTT-ers,

So as you know if you were following along last week I was at Comic-Con repping for us here (duh), That’s Normal and Nerd Girls everywhere.

It all started off with a bang, no I didn’t  meet up with the Game of Thrones boys the night before, I was invited to attend the press conference before the Fan Panel on Thursday. Can we first talk about how weird it is that in the last year LTT has gone from non-official red headed step child of the Twilight fan sites/blogs to official red-headed step child of the Twilight fan sites/blogs? Cause, yea it’s weird, but also super cool because YOU guys deserve it. We’ve bee together since 2008 loving on and making fun of Twilight.

So since I didn’t have a camera man (UC with my dad’s camcorder) with me I’ll leave the video stuff up to the professionals. And trust me it was mostly the same stuff we’re all used to. You know the “What was your favorite scene to film?” “Where there any pranks on set?” “Is Robsten’s love a pure as the driven snow?” “Have you tried the new Raspberry Lemoncello refresher from Olive Garden, Taylor?” Ok, so maybe some of those weren’t asked but as Buttcrack Santa is my witness I WILL ask what the cast orders off In-n-Out’s secret menu AND I will ask them to also play “Fuck, Kill, Marry” like we did with Stephenie. SOME DAY. Y’all. Some day. Anyhoo lots of questions were asked and I must say Kristen was super on her game, engaging, answering questions, saying “man” A LOT. Taylor was being Taylor, Rob was off in never never land for a good part of it but his best moments were when he started asking Stephenie questions. All was dandy and fun and I enjoyed drinking tons of little free bottles of Diet Coke while I sat between the Australian woman and the dude from Latino Review (who knew?)…

And then I cried…

Ok, not really but I’m not gonna lie if you looked at me during this moment I may have either been chopping onions on the front row next to this loud Australian woman with neon pink toes or I was having a moment. I think as I was sitting there I finally let it sink in that we’re in the home stretch and that this will essentially all be over in November. And how much what Stephenie and Taylor and Kristen were saying could be said by any one of us.

So on a cloud of wistfulness I ran over to get into the fan panel in Hall H to see what clips would be shown and what awesomely awkward fan questions would be asked. After doing some sweet talking to the psycho Hall H line police dude in a white cowboy hat (I know) I ran in just in time to grab a seat next to the best and brightest (BrookeLockart, Lolashoes, TBY789 and Ms. Myra McEntire) and of course the hecklers. After all we were pretty far back.

Since none of us wants to ctrl + some crappy cell phone pictures I took let’s leave this to the professionals again… but ya know with a little bit of what was REALLY happening…

GUISE!!! I’m here! And guess what! I’ve got my shit together this time! I look great, I’ve figured out how to wear sneakers with nice outfits and not look like I’m trying too hard, my hair looks pleasantly tousled, I have great answers prepared for you, my makeup is on point, I don’t look like Joan Jett on a bender, my nail polish is of some color that the internets will freak over……. oh what’s that you say, this is the LAST one and we’ve done like a billon of these things before and I only just figured it out? Well what can you do?

Damnit. They tricked me again. This is SO not an all you can eat In-N-Out. I should have known an all you can eat In-N-Out was too good to be true. They so owe me. Oh look Sailor Moon!

Yea, no.

Oh these heels? Ain’t no thang.

Hey Ashley, did you know I just had a kid with Sheilawhatsname? Yea, cause I did. And you didn’t. And we’re totally happy and it was totally planned and you’re totally sad about it, right?

That’s her!! The creepy one who always sits behind the mic! Get her Dean!

Later in the afternoon I participated in some round table interviews with the cast but since we are now an official red headed step child of the Twilight fan sites/blogs we have to wait on that for a bit. So get yourselves prepared for that exciting post and a few other more exciting posts coming up!

Until next year Comic Con! Oh wait *cries*
Moon

PS I have tons more from Comic Con but I’ll post that and all my odds and ends another day.

So did you see the clips they showed the attendees of the fan panel? Getting even more excited?

Ever since I read somewhere that KStew is ready to have a kid it looks to me like she’s grabbing on to the Renesmee girl a liiiitle too hard. Like there’s a kidnapping in the future …

      hahahaha

  • http://letterstotwilight.com UnintendedChoice

MOON FOR THE WIN!!!!! This was hilarious.

  • MariaCecilia

Nooo, I didn’t see the clips, I didn’t go to Comic Con and I am stuck out in the wilderness, borrowing my Mom’s crappy computer for five minutes. *pouts* And I may just have an “soon this will be over” twilight life crisis. *shudders* I must go do something, jogging or gin drinking…Still love you all though!
Oh, and I’m going to Seattle next week: any tips from locals? Ladies?

    • cyndibear

I know these are a bit touristy, but you’ll be on holiday after all.  All within city limits save for the ferries.  Of course, Pike Place Market (flowers and fish toss). The Space Needle (it’s orange right now for it’s 50th) and the views are incredible. There’s also the new Chihully Garden and Glass (near the Needle).  Kerry Park in Queen Ann neighborhood (great views too). And the new Seattle Great Wheel near the aquarium along the piers. Theo Chocolates (they do factory tours!). Anthony’s Pier 66 restaurant, balcony seating out back can get you a fantastic view of Mt. Rainier (if it’s out). Sadly, Ipanema restaurant is closed. Across from Pike Place, Francois Payard Bakery (mini cheesecakes). And Top Pot Doughnuts in Belltown. Salumi (deli) for a sandwich, owned my celebrity chef Mario Batali’s parents. Chandler’s Crabhouse (bibs included). Not been (yet) but GQ rated best in USA for cocktails, Zig Zag Cafe (behind Pike Place, water-side). If you can sweet talk locals on to their boat, there’s the Duck Dodge on Lake Union on Tuesday evenings. Seattle Art Museum. Seattle Public Library (the building is incredible). Shop at Archey McFee’s, the original flagship Nordstrom’s and REI.  The Seattle Mariners will be in town, playing baseball at Safeco Field (Pyramid Brew and Pub across the street). Catch a ferry to Bainbridge, Bremerton, Whidbey or San Juan Islands. Market Ghost Tour or Spooked in Seattle tour.

      • TeamSeth

Sweet! I’m going to Seattle on Saturday! :)  Tacoma Museum of Glass visit on the drive up, and I’m so excited there’s a Chihuly Glass garden now in Seattle Center.

Also, I will suggest going to the bar The Unicorn in Capitol Hill. You can buy Unicorn Balls there. Delicious. It’s a fun place in general.

Near Green Lake is Mighty-O’s Donuts (vegan donuts). And then in Ballard neighborhood there’s a brunch place called Hi Life that’s pretty yummy.

Um, there used to be a Mystery Bookstore in Old Town, which was good. Not sure if it’s still there.

My friends’ friends own a brewery up in the north in Greenwood neighborhood, but you probably won’t be all the way up there. It’s called Naked City.

If you drive up to the Queen Anne neighborhood, you can get a pretty good vista point of the Seattle skyline.

Yay! I’m so excited to be going there. And if you are there on Sat/Sun and wanted to say “Hi”, I’m game. Will be there with Mr Seth. No pressure :)  Have an awesome trip! I hope Mt Rainier is visible the whole time :)

        • cyndibear

So jealous! (Huge Chihuly fan here.)  Are you going to catch a viewing at the hot shop? Lost the coin toss to my car enthusiast friend last road trip and spent my Tacoma time at Griott’s Garage instead. ;-)

          • MarbleNutSlut

You are?! The Boston Fine Arts Museum just had a huge Chihuly exhibit. How do they move that shiz?! There was one they had to put in the atrium because it was 2 stories. ART NERDS WOOT!

          • cyndibear

Art Nerds Who-hoo! How much more awesome can you all be?

I heard about that! I saw his exhibit at the deYoung in SF a couple years back.  But the most fun was a few years earlier driving all around Napa/Sonoma wine country looking for his installments at various wineries. There were even glass chandeliers placed out among the vines.

          • TeamSeth

Oh man, Orlando Art Museum had one back in the day. That was my introduction to Chihuly. One of the pieces worked so well that they kept it… http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/553711_10100249410052623_642819359_n.jpg

          • TeamSeth

Yeah! Doing it all. And the Chihuly bridge etc.  We’re moving to NYC in August, so this is my last chance to go to MoG. :(

          • cyndibear

Excellent way to complete your PNW chapter!  Congrats on your NYC move and new chapter!  And just in time for Autumn in New England!

          • TeamSeth

If only i remembered to book our lodging for this weekend… :-/

          • cyndibear

Your trip is meant to be… something will come up.
To hedge your bet, there’s Hotels.com.  And there are also B&B’s. Found this little site last year.

          • BeaDee

This means I don’t get to pick you up on the way if I drive to LA in November. Boo.

      • MariaCecilia

OMG! Thank  you all, thank you! I’ll have to copy-paste all your awesome suggestions into a file and bring it with me. And I happen to be an art nerd too, so thanks for the tip! Dear Old One, Forks is on my Go To List, but since I’ll be in Seattle three days with hubby (who’s working) I’m not sure I’ll be able to fit it in. (Unlike Bella, I don’t drive.) Then it’s on to LA and queing up to fit my feet where UC and Moon had theirs just weeks ago.. Squeee! I’m totally fangirling over here! (Oh, gotta go, that’s my mother calling from the garden. The sun decided to make an appearance: got to catch it, apparently. Sigh.)

        • cyndibear

          Have a WONDERFUL time!!

    • TeamSeth

Oh, and this is probably in your guidebook, but the Experience the Music Project (EMP) also houses a SciFi museum, and right now they’re doing Avatar (bleh) and Icons of SciFi… with a DALEK!!!!! :D  Ahem. Anyway, I will be going to see the dalek. http://www.empmuseum.org/exhibitions/index.asp?articleID=1630

    • The Old One

Seattle?  you’re going to the Olympic Peninsula, too, right?  There’s a little town out there called Forks, I’ve heard that’s kinda cute…?

      • TeamSeth

Hm…. I wrote a letter about that town to LTTers that I think UC/Moon should publish…. Seems very timely!

    • BeaDee

To the lists above add Ivars (from an outdoor stand, not the sit-down restaurant) and Gasworks Park. There’s even an Ivars near Gasworks. Take a kite if you can, and a bucket to pick blackberries by the water. Also, I’m not sure if it’s open to the public, but my favorite thing to do in college was rent a canoe from the UW marina and hang out on Lake Union.

      • cyndibear

How about the Agua Verde Paddle Club & Cafe on north shore of Portage Bay? Rent a kayak and eat fish tacos.

  • MarbleNutSlut

Teach me how to Dougie. Love.

I am not sad, you guys. Books are re-readable.

I say this now, but wait til November, when I am high on Starbucks and gin and tonics and a blubbering mess, hiding from the red carpet madness.

Did I tell you it’s my birthday in November? Yeah. I am flying 3000 miles AWAY from friends and family to hang out with strangers and watch a movie. On My Birthday. What’s disturbing is that my non-invisible-internet friends still think That’s Normal.

    • TeamSeth

Um, I’m your friend and I will be there, holding back your hair and then watching the door to make sure no one goes into the hotel room while you’re in there with, well, discretion is best when silent… ;)

      • MarbleNutSlut

It’s okay. Mr. Slut knows that all bets (and vows) are off if Rob is in the vicinity.

        • http://letterstokristen.wordpress.com/ KStewBoy

          That’s Normal too.

    • MariaCecilia

When you’re high from coffee and GT:s is the time NOT to hide from the madness: puke on the red carpet! Because that’s normal.

      • MarbleNutSlut

         you make a compelling point.

  • BrookeLockart

Oh man, some people in that cast have such an interesting dynamic. Certain members of the cast are also way too desperate to prove their happiness.

Moonie, you give the best recaps. Love this! *activate smile*

  • JustthetipEH

This is classic old school -had me LOLing- LTT. Stew DID have her shizz together.  I cant wait for November but at the same time I’m dreading it. I’ll have to find a new excuse to go to LA….. Ohh maybe I’ll bring my kids to DLand.

    • BeaDee

Girl has had her shizz together since at least SWATH promo, and a good bit of BD1. I’ve been impressed. I always wonder if it’s media training, playing more confident characters, or just growing up and accepting that she’s a movie star.

      • http://letterstokristen.wordpress.com/ KStewBoy

I vote that’s it’s mostly #3, but some of #1 and none of #2.  Girl is getting her woman on.

        • JustthetipEH

I always chalked it up to a healthy dose of Adavan. I remember watching her on Oprah thinking she could use one. Or three.

        • BeaDee

          All the better for you.

  • Nelle

Havent seen the clip. Keep hoping it will show up in all its grainy glory on YouTube. We can’t all be lucky enough to live on the west coast and go to Comic Con.

    Moon you rock!!

  • TeamSeth

    Rewind.

You said you had a round table interview with the cast?

Is this like a real press blog now? (looks around, nervous).

(ps-I totally watched Twilight on my ipod touch yesterday when the bus broke down and I had to wait 40 minutes for the next one — FUN TIMES. “Did you follow me here?” “I feel very protective of you.” “So, you followed me.” “Well, I, well, um, I, well… fuuuuuck.” “I’m gonna go, please leave me alone or else I’ll have the real cops place a restraining order on you.” “You really shouldn’t have said that.” Enter horror stalker film.  ANYWAY, I love that movie.)

    • BeaDee

I’m willing to accept the weirdness of the redheaded step-child being officially adopted by Summit if it means we get Moon asking LTT approved questions of the cast.

  • The Old One

Why is Ashley wearing Bella’s dress from BD1?

    • BeaDee

THAT’s where I’d seen it before! I knew it looked familiar. There were some pictures from later in the day where she was in jorts and a t-shirt– my Georgia friends would say this proves she’s really from Florida.
More critically, what the heck was Liz Reaser wearing? Long sleeved romper? WHY??? Nikki, on the other hand, is looking fantastic these days.

    • MariaCecilia

Classic case of “I got this for you, but really I just want it for myself..can I borrow it, please?”

  • http://twitter.com/KimWetter Kim Wetter

I love this and I’m so jealous I wasn’t there. And I’m so sad it’s all ending :(
