My Twilight Timeline

Dear Summit,

For the first time ever, you’ve done something that doesn’t suck. I’m not just saying this because we really hope you invite us to the red carpet next month (but we do. We’re going either way. We’d just prefer our time there to not be marked by 5 seconds of fun PLUS an overnight in jail cuz we snuck in the trunk of Kellan’s limo)

But you created this fanspace timeline  called The Twilight Time Capsule that captures all the “moments” that fans have had with Twilight. AW!!! That’s so sweet & cute! And I immediately got to work, adding my own moments.

Of course, I couldn’t actually upload any images or comments or videos. That would make today’s letter WAY TOO EASY, right? So maybe I take it back… You had a great IDEA, but since it’s not working in the moment i need it to, it still kinda sucks. Go Figures.

(I mean we love you & would proudly represent you & your movie on November 14th, 2011 at the (Insert name of theater- don’t worry I’ll find out exactly where it is before I drug Rob’s limo driver & put on my driving cap to escort him to the premiere))

Anyway, what I WOULD have done today had it worked was bore you once again with MY Twilight moments. You’ve heard them all by now. But this time I tried to be creative & pick some of our lesser known Twilight moments:

August, 2008:
I read Twilight on the beach and my family hates me because I am not present the entire vacation.

LTT REading Twilight 2008

Thats me with the book that looks like Twilight (It's Eclipse, actually)

I see Twilight opening night November, 2008 & am the ONLY one at PF Changs afterwards who doesn’t agree when the topic of “Movie Edward is not as hot as Book Edward” is brought to the table. Movie Edward was hot

December 2008: Moon & I, casual internet friends who occasionally talk about how “The OC was the greatest show ever,” both discover we can’t stop watching this badly recorded behind the scenes 1 hour long video from a cast Vanity Fair photoshoot. And so….

December 8, 2008

LetterstoTwilight.com was born (or rather letterstotwilight.wordpress.com was born & Letterstotwilight.com was bought on December 23rd!)

Then some stuff happens (including a BUNCH of people finding LTT in January 2009) which leads to Mr. Choice & I flying to LA in March 2009 and Moon & I taking this 2nd-hand embarrassing photo:

And also making this video

(You know you love that)

Then some other stuff happened including Moon’s outing of Robsten in August, 2009 the same week that Stephenie Meyer outed US on her blog which gave us a Cullen Smile & made us fake-change our header for about 30 seconds to THIS:

(Re-read that letter- it’s hilarious, if Im allowed to say that about something I wrote (I am))

Then in November, 2009 we decided we didn’t do enough 2nd-hand embarrassing stuff together in March, so we did this in the Premiere camp-out line:

A bunch of other stuff happened including & not limited to:

UC's birthday LTT- TammyO (oh how we miss you!)
– Falling in love with Big Daddy (Wait, we’re sneaking in HIS limo in November- forget Kellan!)
– Blog redesign that was about 1 year and 1/2 in the works
– I think Moon & I probably had one disagreement. Just 1 though. She’s the least difficult person to work with in the universe. Seriously. Everyone needs a Moon in their life. AWWWWW I’m CROSSTICHING THAT FOR HER BIRTHDAY
– Moon threw me an EPIC online birthday party with a fairly accurate picture of my drunkest most FIRST-HAND embarrassing night ever:
– We found out we were picked out of a Twilight Cup to interview Stephenie

Then on June 18th, 2010 we leg hitched Stephenie Meyer while I made the weirdest face known to man:

Then I gazed longingly at Jackson while wearing a dress that looked more flattering in the mirror than in reality in my hipster neighborhood of Philadelphia (I had JUST moved in. I couldn’t get away with this now. Too 2nd-hand embarrassing. Even I have limits!!)

Then LegHitch2010 Happened. And it was Epic. And somehow Moon & I found time to make some videos. Some previously unpublished videos, some that Moon has totally forgotten about, and one clip that I’m sharing with you today:

(watch it again. I watched it about 20 times last night. And I wasn’t even drunk)

And during all that time THREE movies were released, another book was published, we fell in & out of love with actors (RIP Rachelle, Bryce Dallas & Xavier), made a couple (!) new friends (and a couple enemies- oops) and all together had a pretty good time.

So…. here’s to you Breaking Dawn.. You kinda have a lot to live up to. Think you’re up for the challenge? I sure hope so because these past 2 years and 10 months have been SO DANG FUN.

Love,
UnintendedChoice

So what did I miss? And what would YOUR Timeline say? What do you think? Did Summit actually do something GOOD? (assuming the website works at press time?). How 2nd-hand embarrassed are you after watching that last video? And doesn’t Moon look HOT as Elvis?

PS: Hear ads? There are 4 that sometimes talk. If you mute them once they’ll be muted for eternity (at least that’s how it works for my computer!)

Friday Funnies! Chris Weitz likes the best videos. EVER!

Dear LTT-ers,

I don’t know about you all but today is a big day… it is Good Friday for those who celebrate and it is also the LA stop on the Railroad Revival Tour so I am busy celebrating, remembering, singing and eating Five Guys (the restaurant, pervs). BUUTTT I thought we should take a second to have a laugh courtesy of Chris Weitz and his Twitter. At some point (who knows when) he tweeted a link to his favorite funny Twilight video. It just happens to come from The Onion so you KNOW it’s gonna be gooood.

Sit back for a minute enjoy this and have a wonderful Holiday weekend.

Al-Qaeda Calls Off Attack On Nation’s Capitol To Spare Life Of ‘Twilight’ Author

Worse than when Sam phased and slashed his beloved Emily in the face” and the terroist in a Twilight tshirt?! Someone’s a HIGH-larious fan at the Onion. It’s so much win that I can’t even quote all my favorite parts… It’s like they wire tapped a Twihard event, or just copied word for word Twibloggers posts from the nets.

Happy Holiday Weekend to Everyone! TGIF!

Books Stephenie should write, other than Midnight Sun

One of these days I won’t work 12 hours & I’ll actually be able to write my own LTTs. Until then, thank God for LTT friends who write amazing letters for us. Today, hear from The Plane Friend- the friend I met, on a plane, in college (and reconnected with via LTT!)

I'm a fangirl!

Dear Stephenie,

I have to admit that it’s really bizarre to address a letter to you. I’ve never written to an author before, despite how much I computer-stalk all their web sites, blogs, and interviews. It’s even more unbelievable to me that I’m going to write one of my favorite authors under the moniker of The Plane Friend…and on a fan site.

As I sat down to write this, I thought about all the ways I could go with this letter, my first addressed to you: a real live, uber-successful author, which is what I have dreamed of being since I was a teenager. I could embarrass myself (and garner some second-hand embarrassment) by gushing like the fan-girl I am, but I doubted UC would publish that—even if we are long-lost friends—because I know it wouldn’t be worth reading. I also considered asking you all the questions I’d ask if I were going to interview you (none of which would be the “did you really come up with Twilight from a dream?” question). Since it’s unlikely you’d respond in the comment section, though, I figured it wouldn’t be nice to give everyone at LTT even more things to ponder over.

But as I considered these and all the other options, I decided on a shocking confession (because you care about the confessions of women you’ve never met, right?) and some writing prompts. Because I KNOW that you, NY Times Bestselling author of a saga we all love, needs writing help from a fan you’ve never met. (Ha—I can barely type for laughing at myself). Because why wouldn’t you want writing advice from a stranger who is still hounding literary agents to consider her first attempt at a book? So, here goes.

Meh

My shocking confession: I don’t care if you ever finish Midnight Sun or not.

Don’t get me wrong, I loved the first 267 pages. I would read the rest writhing with unadulterated glee the whole time. I would love to spend more time in Edward’s head, because, like everyone else here, I’m kinda in love with him. But I assume I’m in the huge minority of your fan base who would much rather read a sequel to Breaking Dawn than ever get my hands on any more of Midnight Sun. (I know, I know, LTT readers, you think I’m insane. You want to throw rotten tomatoes at me [or worse!] But just hear me out).

While listening to all the sound clips from the Eclipse fan-junket interview, I was flipping out when I listened to your plans for continuing the story. There were just so many potential great scenes I could come up with for a book narrated by Nessie and Leah, so I can’t even imagine what mind-blowing ideas you have. Plus, Leah is probably my favorite female character in your books—Alice running a close second and Bella a distant third, in case anyone is interested—so I’d really love to hang out with her again. I know that I’m probably WAY on the margins of your fan base here with my affinity for Leah, but I like girls that aren’t apologetic about being in touch with their angry side and, whatever, people are different. I mean, most of the people on this site think Rob Pattison is like the hottest guy in the universe. When I see his interviews, I think he’s hilarious, but he just doesn’t do it for me. He doesn’t hold a candle to the Edward in my head…who, conveniently, looks a lot more like my husband than Rob.
But I digress.

So back to my other point: writing prompts. These were the scenes I was imagining when thinking of this sequel, and I thought I’d share them, just in case they sparked some kind of revival inside you that made you want to write about your vampires again soon. (Ok, I know I’m dreaming here, but you can’t blame a girl for trying, right?)

I'm tired of being alone. Please Stephenie. Please!

Some potential scenes:

  • The Cullens, (which now include vampire-Bella and a teenage/grown Nessie) in high school again. Now, not only does Edward have to endure the vulgar minds of high school boys, he has to listen to them drone on about his wife—and his daughter—and somehow not kill them.
  • A grown-up Nessie falling in love with Jacob/Nahuel/other guy we’ve never met….and having her FATHER be able to read her mind and know everything she has done, thought about doing, or plans to do with this guy. (Oh, the horror! Can we all breathe a collective “Thank you, God!” here that our fathers can’t read our minds?)
  • Nessie and said romantic interest somewhere near-by, and when Edward tries to “listen” in, Bella shields them…and Nessie gets to hear the resulting conversation between her parents. Because that would be funny.
  • Having someone imprint on Leah. Because I’d love to know what that girl would do with a love- sick virtual slave. OR:
  • Leah imprinting on someone. Because you might have to give her a personality transplant.
  • Alice having a vision of their after-life as one possible outcome to a Volturi threat, so that the Cullens know that there is something else out there for them after they die. (But please don’t kill Alice! You can kill Lauren, Jessica, or Rosalie if someone has to go).
  • Jacob getting Nessie pregnant with some strange vampire/werewolf hybrid, because we all want to know what in the world that child would be (and who it could destroy!)
  • Rosalie and/or Leah’s reaction to Nessie having a baby…because I bet both of them would have some severe issues with it. (Hmm, could Rosalie try to steal this kid? I really expected her to try to kill off Bella in BD at one point to try to steal Nessie, so I’m just waiting for “Ice Cold Barbie” to snap.)
  • The Cullens and their friends taking out the Volturi, vigilante-style. Because Aro and Jane, at least, really have it coming.

So what do you think? Any chance we’ll see another vampire book on the shelves sometime? You can steal any of the above ideas you like without crediting me. Or, you know, you could just use all your own ideas, which, I am sure, are much better than mine anyway.

In all seriousness (despite this being LTT where seriousness is thin on the ground sometimes), I don’t care if you write this book next or in ten years, but I’d really, really like to read it. So what do you say? Can we have a BD sequel someday? Please?

Love, adoration, and begging from,

The Plane Friend

P.S. You know, if you ever wrote this book, no one here would mind if you could convince Summit, Robsten, Taylor, & co. to make it into another Twilight movie, either :) . Just a thought.

What story do you wish Stephenie would write (other than Midnight Sun!?) I’m going to go with a cliche & say I’d like to read Jasper & Alice’s love story the most!

Twilight News Dump – The Of Course edition

We’re crazy bro!!!

Dear LTT-ers,

Since there’s nothing HUGE happening (besides the filming of Breaking Dawn) and tons of tiny little things happening AND because when I realize that some of you great readers only come here for I news, I thought it might be nice to have a news dump.

OF course Jackson would be wearing red pants and a top hat in a picture for something called the “Liquid Zoo” album and tour… of which I will not be purchasing OR attending. Love you Jacky! PS 40 cities?? REALLY?? OF COURSE!

Of course the day AFTER BrookeLockart shows up to The Grove in LA from outta town, Ashley Greene would make an appearance there. OF COURSE!

Of course at the Breaking Dawn wrap party the cast took turns riding a teeeeny tiny motorcycle that Taylor brought. I bet Big Daddy was sad. OF COURSE!

Of course Robert Pattinson is going to be on 10546546 TV Shows to promote Water for Elephants! And of course you know they’re gonna ask about Twilight and of course they’re gonna ask about you know who and OF COURSE we (meaning Jena) have you covered on the DVR alerts page.

Of course the pie guy slash the guy from The Fall talks to us Twi fans and makes me more excited to see him as Garrett whoever that is. I hope Garrett is a pie maker.

http://youtu.be/JVIZkspZAcY

Of course Carlisle Cullen would land at #2 on the Forbes list of most wealthy fictional characters and OF COURSE his cover would be blown because they list his stocks in blood and his “daughter” Alice’s penchant for seeing the futre. GOOD JOB fake Forbes, now they have to move again! OF COURSE! #respectthecullens

Of course we all thought the Official Twilight Illustrated Guide was never coming out so OF COURSE you are really confused when it showed up in your mail today but OF COURSE you ordered it back in 2008. If you didn’t you can get it here

Of coure Catherine Hardwicke talks about Twilight and Rob while doing promo for her OTHER (laughable, LIT-TRALLY) movie. And OF COURSE we roll our eyes. SHOW US THE TAPE! Shut up or put up! Or whatever the saying is.

So of course now you’re all caught up on all the news that doesn’t matter and of course all we really want are some legal OFFICIAL stills or maybe a teensy clip from Breaking Dawn but we’ll solider on and pray that November 18 comes faster than it already is.

Happy Hump Day!

Twilosophy: Is any guy ever an “Edward?” or are they all “Jacobs?”

Dear LTT-ers and Twilosophy majors,

For the last few years since we’ve started LTT and LTR and since reading the books, podcasting with the guys and whatnot I’ve had this thought roaming around my twi-addled brain but never felt ready to tackle it… then recently both Chris Weitz and Stephenie Meyer spoke about the very thing I had been wondering… are there really any “Edwards” out there or are they all actually “Jacobs?”

Recently, a Christ Weitz follower tweeted him asking if he was Team Jacob or Team Edward and this was his response:

This guy's a "jacob?" *swoon*

I am a Jacob. So that has to be my team, by default. Except really, honestly, I’m team Bella.
@chrisweitz
.

First I loved him more because he self identifies as a “Jacob” but it got me to thinking since most guys I know have said they’re a “Jacob” and most ladies say they married a “Jacob” IS ANYONE ever an Edward? Has any guy self identified as an “Edward?” And has anyone every really gotten their “Edward?” An “Edward” being the seemingly unattainable, hot, sorta-pretty-much perfect guy who you think would never give you the time of day.

Yup, definitely a Jacob

After being in this “world” for many years I would say that a majority of married Twilight lovers would say they married their “Jacob.” Many of our fellow bloggers and even Stephenie herself has said this. She mentioned that marrying Pancho was like marrying her Jacob.  Stephenie also had this to say about Rob and Taylor in her recent interview with USA Today…

On working with Pattinson and Lautner: “Rob is more like Jacob than Edward. He’s goofy, he’s funny, he doesn’t take much seriously. But he can turn Edward on like that (she snaps her fingers) when he needs to be Edward. Taylor’s who we hang out with most. He’s a lot like fun, happy Jacob.” – Stephenie Meyer in USA Today

Wait, this guys a Jacob??

It’s ok, Rob/Edward fans, you can peel yourself off the floor now and let’s come to terms with the fact that Rob is not and never was Edward. Not that UC and I ever thought that because we’ve pretty much pegged him as a super nerd from day one yet it keeps bringing up the question: If these guys are all “Jacobs” then are all men out there really Jacobs? Or can some of them beEdwards and then become Jacobs?

Furthermore (oh big transitional words!) if most guys end up being Jacobs than what does that say about the Twilight story and Bella and Edward’s relationship? Is it really the stuff of fantasy because there are no “Edwards” in real life? And if that’s true have we finally found the reason why Twilight is so popular, because it’s a fantasy in every sense of the word?

That's a whole lotta Jacobs right there

So do I have an Edward to look forward to or should I just stop ignoring the Jacobs of my life and realize that though he may not sparkle he’s pretty darn fabulous and he might also be able to fix that weird squeaky sound my cars been making.

Here’s to the Jacobs!
Themoonisdown

Thoughts? Who’s married/dated/engaged to their Jacob? Do you think any guy is every REALLY an Edward? Are all men Jacobs at the end of the day?
