Postby amynkansas » Fri Nov 30, 2012 1:16 pm

Hey guys! We are going to hang out in here until the next challenge starts. January 1st is a Tuesday. Will that work or should we wait until the following monday Jan 7th?

Ron is happy to see you here!!!!

And if this smokaholic can stop smoking then we can give up some of our bad habits too.

(can one of the mods with POWER put the challenge before last in the archives just to clear the area a bit?)

WOOHOO New Thread! Image

So how's everyone planning on staying healthy this month?

Here's MY plan:
1- limit my serving sizes
2- try to limit my carb servings to 3/day (operative word is *try*)
3- plan to work out at least 25 min for at least 4 days a week
4- make a point of drinking my water
5- avoid sugary treats, or at minimum eat them in moderation
6- target to sleep 7 hrs/day
7- try to not go to parties/shopping with an empty stomach

AAAND I plan to watch the Bridget Jones crunk tonite, mainly to see my fave Mr Darcy *EVER*

my eldest made a deal with me. he said that if I could get up to running/jogging for 5 minutes he would quit smoking (he is 24) This is like the best incentive EVER!!!!!

I really need to get my RUN ON.

Let's start the new challenge Mon Jan 7. It's too cruel to ask us to start our challenge on Hangover Day

This month, I will stay healthy by:
Eating a majority of veggies at 2 meals a day
Having fruit for a snack every day
Keeping up on my water intake
Workout at least 20 minutes at least 5 days a week plus dog walks
Keep treats to a minimum
DO NOT go overboard on Christmas (with money or food!)
Stay connected with my support team, AKA you guys :D

Absy, congrats on not being that Toblerone's bitch. Toblerones always remind me of Prince Mafiaward *sigh* ;)

Fun plans for this weekend, anyone?
I have a friend coming to town so we will do some lunching. some shopping. I'm also taking my dog & kid to get their photo taken with Santa. I'M SO EFFING EXCITED!!! :P

Popping in to say hello. I want to join the next Challenge. yay!

I'm currently doing a little Challenge of my own right now. My birthday is at the end of next month so I'm giving myself 30 days of no binge eating or overeating as a birthday present. I'm on Day 3 and I feel FANTASTIC! I walked home tonight from work in the dark, in the pouring rain and you couldn't get the smile off my face. :D (this is after Hubby took me to the doc's this afternoon cuz I had a painful irregular heartbeat that scared the beejeezus out of me, going to see cardiologist soon, my doc thinks it was just benign palpitations...)

I was on my rebounder last night and the night before. It feels SO DAMN GOOD to exercise again!!!

Love to you All. I hope you're enjoying the holiday season. I will try to pop in here more often just to say hello and to enjoy the Pretty.

OME! Best fight scene EVER at the end.
Do they fall into the cake? No! Instead they turn all British and polite by joining in and singing happy birthday. LOVE IT!

done :)

And if I may, please don't give up the butter! Margarine is so much worse for your body. Go for the organic butter and if you must, cut back but please don't go to the vegetable spreads! A better alternative would be coconut oil, you can bake or cook with it and no, it doesn't impart the coconut flavor to your meal. I love it :)

My healthy over the holidays?

-keep up with water, 70 ounces per day
-no eating after 10 PM
-do a workout other than walking the dog 4 times per week - ideas: new Jackie Warner training DVD, YOGA!, ballet DVD, swimming at the gym (need to get a bathing suit first, hmm)
-limit dairy, simple carbs, and sugar
-shoot for 7-8 hours of sleep per night
-don't beat myself up if I slip up one day, we're only human. but hold myself accountable so that I'm not slipping up daily!
-continue with my daily green smoothie and kombucha in an attempt to keep myself regular

I tend to be too lenient with myself with rules so I hope I can stick with these!

I couldn't agree more! But it's important to do your own research and find what's right for you. Because there's pros and cons to both choices. Be sure when you are choosing to compare the nutritional labels (you have those by law in the U.S. right?). And keep in mind exactly that - the laws. I read that "Currently, margarine can contain up to 0.5 grams of trans fat per serving and still be labeled “0 g trans fat" in the US" - which is the bad kind. Generally speaking the lighter/less thick or heavy the product - whether butter or margarine - the lower the bad fat. So try stuff that is light and whipped. You could even try the "hybrid" products they have that mix butter with vegetable oil for a "butterine" or "margabutter" type thing. But keep in mind the importance of 1 - moderation (for any kind of alternative) and 2 - READ THE LABEL.

I still have to post my healthy plan for the next month - but right now healthy for me is getting ready for work. Gotta pay them bills :(

Love reading everyone's plans!

Somehow I'm in a lovely mood despite having barely slept last night - had my usual hard time sleeping b/c I drank loads of sangria (but it was SO worth it, yum!) at a party.

Let's have a fab week! Image

LC & Abs- Thanks for the info on butter v. margarine. I, too, was going to tell Amy that subbing margarine for butter was a bad idea, but that's as far as I got with that train of thought

Muffi- Congrats on being an LTT guest star! It's such a rush, isn't it?! :P

I have a cold (the sniffing, sneezing, coughing, aching, stuffy head, fever kind of cold). Also, my stomach is feeling better but I haven't yet gotten totally into the vegetable swing of things yet.

AND it's exactly 3 weeks until Christmas Eve!!! :o I need to get busy baking!!! :?

According to my LTT inbox I have now missed 742 "episodes" of LTT :( I wonder if they've posted any of the
(endless crap)
stuff I used to send them.

Obavy-wan-kanobi I hope you feel better soon

Image

And thanks for the deadline alert. So did not feel like Xmas was only 3 weeks away! YIKES.

3 weeks until Christmas means I need to start buying some shit! I have a great list, now just need to start spending that dough, sigh.

Question, I found a "recipe" for homemade lotion bars that I want to try out. If they're good I was thinking of gifting them to some of the women on my list. Would you like to get this sort of thing? Mr. LC says that no one wants homemade lotion. Of course, I may try it out and hate it but figured I would get some feedback now
