Team Seth- NOT a pedophile- celebrates an anniversary

Dear LTT,

You have bewitched me body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on.

Happy Anniversary!  One year of laughs and love.  It goes by so fast!  Now, I know we technically met in August 2009, because I remember finding you via Stephenie Meyer’s website after writing the web producer an embarrassing email (you know, Steph’s little brother, Seth. Ahem). But I didn’t really get you then, so I wasn’t too interested. Your set up was confusing, and it was hard to shuffle through your past. You were like Mr. Darcy at the Meryton ball, and I just couldn’t figure you out. About a month went by. Then one lonely day in September I was googling snails because my friend and I had had a discussion about some aspect of snails, and I wanted to figure out what the deal was (I’d give details, but I don’t remember them).

AmanDuh, is that you?

Instead I found The Snail. My life was changed. Not because of the horrific body mutilation photo, but because I refound you!  And you made sense this time!  I loved you immediately. Your sense of humor was wonderful, your friends were hilarious and passionate, your loyalty to being a constant daily event in my life was comforting.  As I looked over your recent tales, I found Cyndi’s letter… Tear Jerker Thursday.  This was really the turning point.  I felt a real connection to you. I needed you. I liked you more than Twilight itself.

My first comment was under a false name, well, my RL name, but not the name you and I use.  Then on September 16th, the magic happened. I remember how long it took me to come up with my name (approximately 7 minutes while snacking on chips & salsa). But I realized that Seth really was my favorite character–and at that point I didn’t know BooBoo was playing him so there was no pedophile creepiness involved–plus I though Seth Morgan [Stephenie’s bro] was pretty cute. That day I commented about my disappointment in Aro’s lack of paperlike skin in the NM trailer and how Caius looked like Mr. Filch from Harry Potter. That day I also wrote a whopping THREE letters to you! Then within 10 days you were already showcasing our correspondence about David Slade’s 40th birthday.  I couldn’t believe it. You’d accepted me so quickly, it was wonderful. Those early days lasted forever. I imagine it’s how Edward and Bella felt at the beginning. By October 3rd I had fully committed. I created a gmail account, twitter, and gravatar. (@goteamseth and goteamseth@gmail.com).

Yeah, ten. (click to enlarge)

I remember that time I made some 10 entries into the Imma Let You Finish contest because I had that much free time on my hands. My boyfriend didn’t appreciate me spending a whole day on that instead of job searching. Oh well.  I enjoyed myself.  Then there was the time I found out UC and Moon’s RL names. I felt so nervous as I uncovered them online. A mystery I shouldn’t know. There was a let down afterward. A mystique gone. A virginity I could never get back.  And I remember when I submitted the article pitch about you and UC/Moon to Glamour, only to have an out-of-office reply come from the editor I emailed, which said (paraphrased), “I’m moving on to a new adventure in my life. Thanks for everything.” #Fail.

Yeah, we're pretty much besties now. Thanks, LTT!

Oh, and you introduced me to Billy Burke, Charlie Bewley, and Daniel Cudmore. Heeeey!  Remember that time I semi-stalked Bewley’s friend on twitter and ended up forming a real friendship with him? How awkward. We still talk though, which is kind of wild.

You carried me through my unemployment. Those dark months of handing out resumes in bulk. Rejection after rejection after rejection. You were there for me. Your friends took me in, emailed me, chatted with me. People I’d never met, and many I likely will never meet, treating me like a bestie.

Super. That makes me really happy.

You enabled me to go to Forks and create tons of inside jokes with my sister, to make a Walmart cami with a Charlie Swan iron-on to wear to the New Moon premiere, to get a little bottle for Christmas from Buttcrack Santa himself, to try my hand at acting, to buy a Tweed Serious tshirt, to create a unicorn, to meet an LTTer in South Africa to watch the Eclipse premiere with while I was there.  So much you’ve given me!  I know we had our ups and downs. Times when I was going to leave you. But you pleaded me to stay, so I did. After all, where else am I gonna go?

So thank you for everything. And Imma let you finish, but I just gotta say, you’re the best blog of all time. Of all time.

Kind Regards,
TeamSeth

Um, TeamSeth? I think you forgot to mention you got drunk with UC a few weeks ago when you came to visit your sister in Philly!!! That should be your favorite thing to come out of LTT!

Awwww we LOVE hearing your LTT stories! Think you got a good one? Send it in!!!

Brooke's year was full of new friends and FUPA's!

*To finish out the end of this special Anniversary week we’ve been having afternoon letters from reader-friends and today’s letter is from Brooke, missed her thanksgiving letter? Shame! Read it! Also make sure you see the VIDEO I made of the last year of LTT LTR!*

"Book Club" meeting in Seattle

Dear LTT/LTR,
Happy Anniversary! Break out those little bottles and make Buttcrack Santa proud! Sorry I didn’t get you a gift, but I figured my loving contribution today would count for something. Since I have already shared with you my thankful thoughts for this blog and the fandom (the non-crazy ones, of course), I wasn’t sure what else I could say without completely repeating myself. After eating my weight in caramel popcorn (damn you work vendors!! *shakes angry fist*), I had a few ideas…

At first, I had planned on writing about LTT/LTR momentous occasions: the first post that *I* read, the first time *I* was mentioned in a post (with my picture)***, the second time *I* was mentioned in a post, the time *I* was a guest panelist and taught the world about the FUPA, the time *I* talked about needing more batteries from all the fic and rob porn, the time I coined the phrase “I don’t give a flying fucksten”, the time when *I* gave my eloquent opinion on fan fiction, or finally the time when *I* had my pic with Sam Bradley show up on LTR this past weekend. This idea fell flat, because clearly I have not been included on this blog nearly enough times.

A year's worth of Twilight and Rob shenanigans caught on video!

Dear LTT/LTR’ers,

Since we began planning this anniversary week I knew I wanted to make a video to help capture a little bit of the magic from this past year. I wanted to show all the people who met, all the concerts we went to, the cast members we met, all the 2nd hand embarrassing crap we did and all the stuff that we’ve written about that’s become folklore on the blog. And I even knew the song I wanted to use during the video… as it turns out we did SO much of that stuff, met so many people and had way too many good times I had to loop the song three times (it’s a short song) to fit it all in and I didn’t even scratch the surface of all the people who have met on here so I hope you’ve forgive me because I don’t have pictures of everyone but I hope you enjoy a little look back at the first year of Letters to Twilight and Letters to Rob.

Enjoy!

We love and appreciate you all so much! Words, videos and letters can’t come close to expressing it. Just know this is the place where we always hope you’ll come whether it’s a good day or a bad day, whether we’re funny or not, we love this little community!

Have a rad weekend!
Themoonisdown

This was my very first attempt at making a video with “moving parts!” Pat me on the back people! HA, I kid, but it is super fun! Since we don’t all live in Boston near “Cheers” what bar would you take us to if we came to visit? Share it with us in the comments!

Breaking down my Twilight memories

Dear Twilight,

Wow… you have really changed my life. I’ve been doing a lot of self reflecting this week since it’s our anniversary week, and I’ve been thinking back to a year ago at the start of it all. Moon & I are extremely bummed that we can’t locate that very first chat we had on 12/8/08 when we decided to start the blogs, but in my searching for that first conversation, I’ve come across a gem. Way back on 11/25/2008, Moon was going through her first read of the Twilight saga, and I was SO excited to finally have a friend to discuss the series with! I laughed re-reading this conversation, realizing how far we’ve come, how much we’ve changed and yet, how little has really changed! I’m gonna stop talking about it and instead, I’m gonna break down one of the first conversations Moon & I ever had about Twilight… vanity fair style!

My “Break down” is italicized between the lines of conversation and it’s green. Green is (what?) GOOD

Someday will cover our faces with that ribbon...

Losing Moon’s virginity

UC: oh miss Moon HI! did you read my blog yet? My review on Twilight the movie? because I forgot you didn’t finish book 3… *spoiler alert*
Book 3? Really UC? No one calls it that. It’s Eclipse
Moon: Thats where I just clicked on! About to read it!
UC: NOOO Stop! Until you finish the series…. I don’t want to give it away!!!
Moon: But I’m halfway through Eclipse? Don’t read it?
UC: Don’t- just because I give away my favorite part!! A part you’ll love
It involves the guy who runs around in jorts warming up the heart-breaker in a tent while the cold one looks on!
Moon: Oh man! I can’t wait. I didn’t read any last nite because I wanted to save it for the plane tonight!!
What? Moon? Is that you? The one who has been tempted to read my blog posts before they post in the morning and has been known to sneak in fanfic at opportune times- like during work or while at church? You WAITED for Eclipse!?
UC: oh yay! Good Idea
You sound 12, UC, saying “Yay” like that. Plus that’s not a good idea
UC: I forgot how good Eclipse was! I think I might read the last 1/2 again before I start Breaking Dawn :) I’m such a loser/really awesome
The phrase you’re looking for is “That’s Normal”
Moon: TOTALLY awesome.
Welcome to the 80s
Moon: yea I’m LOVING Eclipse- might be favorite
It stays your favorite
Moon: Then I’ll probably get Breaking Dawn this week sometime
You’ll try, but every store will be out of it. So you’ll look hopelessly for a week

The one where we prophecize

UC: How long will you be at home with your parents? Until Sunday?
Moon: Monday I come back- decided to make a vacay out of it
UC: nice!!
Moon: stalk stephenie meyer
UC: Oh yay! She lives there, I forgot!
Oh UC… next thing you’ll tell me you don’t know Rob Pattinson’s middle name.
Moon: It’s so sad but I’m so hoping for some odd reason I see her
That hope never dies
Moon: I’ve regressed to age 14 and I’m ok with it
That’s (still) Normal
UC: haha I would want to see her too! And I know what you mean I’m seriously going crazy. I’m only listening to the soundtrack and I keep repeating songs
You’ll do that for another 6 months. You’ll never play that Perry Ferrell song you thought you’d learn to like ever again
Moon: Dude the soundtrack is killing me
Dude- Just wait until New Moon’s soundtrack. You’ll wanna kill yourself
UC: So my review of the movie is VERY similar to yours (I didn’t read yours until after I wrote mine) Except.. I added my opinions of seeing it a 2nd time which was PERFECT because I loved it even more
Moon: yea I’m thinking I need to see it again away from little girls
UC: Yes. it was SO different
Moon: I think I’ll be able to focus on it and not wonder what’s next and stop worrying about the cheesy special FX and enjoy
You won’t stop worrying about the cheesy FX because they don’t stop being cheesy
UC: right- I def. wasn’t focused first time around. [My husband] Mr. Choice didn’t think it was cheesy at all (the diamonds)
The what? Diamonds? Do you mean the sparkles? Oh UC….
UC: he said if it was anything more, he thinks it would’ve been cheesy.
He’s wrong. It was cheesy
UC: I could’ve used some more sparkle myself. Spoiler alert for my review. He LOVED it
Moon: Every dude or person who didn’t read the books really liked it
Is every ‘dude or person” you know a family member of Catherine Hardwicke? [side note: this was during the phase when Moon called every guy a dude]
UC: I know!
Moon: so I think it’s just the diehards who are trying to reconcile the whole thing to whatever they imagined
UC: He said it’s a shame it’s the teen demographic because it’s not going to get the credit and attention it deserves for being a really kick-a movie
Hahahaha UC print that out and remind Mr. Choice DAILY that he once said that. He won’t believe you….
Moon: EXACTLY! So many people are like that’s a YA novel. I’m like SO WHAT?!
Preach it
Moon: If they got a different director and some kick ass CGI/FX this could contend with the summer blockbusters- it’s supernatural
Preeeacch it!
UC: and the actors were soo good!
Uh… who do you mean? Jessica and Mike? And sometimes Rob?
Moon: It could be put it in there with Batman and stuff
Uh, what? Continue…

One Year. It's been a long time coming! Celebrate our year in the Twilight fandom!

Oh hello outtake of Moon & UC in a disney forest!

Dear UnintendedChoice (I used your full fake name cause I’m serious. I’m also wearing a pair of Tweed jorts),

A year ago today (trust me, I counted) we started this “secret blog” which now a year later isn’t such a secret anymore, not to the thousands of visitors we get or the hundreds of commenters who comment on every post and not even to most people in my real life now. In fact more often than not I’m now introduced to people I don’t know with “Hi X, this is Moon* she runs a “famous” Twilight blog!” Uh, well, wham, bam, thank you ma’m. Not such a secret anymore I dare say!

Remember our very first layout EVER?!

People ask me why I don’t talk more about the blogs in my real life and it would be easy to say it’s embarrassing I write a blog every day about Twilight and Rob but truthfully I can’t be embarrassed anymore about a blog that’s become part of the fandom in a real and lasting way. I can’t be embarrassed that people have met their soul mates and friends and long lost bff’s because we write about Twilight. I can’t be embarrassed that things we’ve created: words, phrases, characters, fake names have become part of the lexicon of the Twilight/Rob fandom.  And I definitely can’t be embarrassed that because I write this blog I have found a new lease on life and created a deep and lasting friendship with one of the most wonderful people God ever created. You are a God send UC. Baby Jesus and Rob himself created you just for me in their plaid heaven in the sky.

May the source be with you!

Some people know a little bit of my back story that led up to creating this with you but for those who don’t I worked for an entertainment company for multiple years and worked my way up through the ranks to a position that had all the responsibility of a middle woman and none of the perks of an upper level executive. I regularly contemplated crashing my german made car into the free way underpass on the way to work every morning. Every Sunday night (or really just any day ending in Y) I would wake up with panic attacks that would leave me paralyzed in my bed. I would come home from work and go straight to bed at 7Pm until I had to get up and do it all again the next day. To say all of these things were unhealthy would be an understatement.

And then I found Twilight (cue choir of Angels) or rather it found me.

Follow the cut to read the rest and to see some special shout outs, music, and hear the story of our first post!
