New Faces Fridays: Judi Shekoni

Dear Twilight,

How did I miss the news that Tyra Banks was in Breaking Dawn part 2? Was I too busy watching Will Ferrell cry over the break-up of ROBSTEN to read that memo?

Oh wait…. that’s not Tyra– it’s Judi Shekoni, the actor who plays Zafrina (She’s part of the Amazon coven and is is a particularly talented vampire with the supernatural ability to create visual illusions! DUH! How could you forget? (Thanks to Twilight Saga Wiki for existing)

You’re welcome for that great Tyra joke.

No but seriously. Continuing in our New Face Fridays theme, today we share a little bit from our interview with Judi Shekoni. The interview is being hosted on so make sure you check out the full interview there.  Here’s a snippet:

Fansite interview with Judi Shekoni (Zafrina in Breaking Dawn Part 2)

Could you talk about what it was like the first time you saw yourself fully in costume? There are some wonderful studio stills that were released of you and Tracey [Heggins] together in costume.

Yes, the first time I saw myself fully in costume was overwhelming. It was kind of hypnotic and you can’t stop staring at yourself in the mirror. It was just kind of overwhelming. I don’t think I’ve ever been in that position in my life, where I had so many people who are great at what they do, all come together and work on this project as one entity. It was really breathtaking. As it was happening with the costume tests and make up tests that when it finally came together, it was all of a process, and it was very rewarding.

Will we get to see some of Zafrina’s illusions in Breaking Dawn Part 2?

I don’t know if I’m allowed to talk about that. [laughs] I mean, we know the character has a special power. I don’t know if I can talk about that to be honest. I’m so sorry.

BOO! Check out the rest of the interview over at and read up on who else we’ve featured thus far:

New Faces Friday: MyAnna Buring

Dear Twilight,

So much has happened this week:
First we had a convo about Kellan Lutz that NO ONE saw because someone had to hog the spotlight. (And if you’ve been living in a dark hole & don’t know who that someone is, it’s Kristen Stewart– who cheated on Rob Pattinson <– yes that’s a real statement. Sometimes I still can’t believe it cuz… WHAT? who would cheat on ROB PATTINSON? No future boyfriend will EVER live up to him in the looks department!) And in between the Kellan Lutzing and Kstew cheating we found time to have a chat with Myanna Buring.

The latest cast member in our New Faces Friday series, of course!

MyAnna (pronounced: My Ahhhhnna) plays Tanya in Breaking Dawn Part 2 & we all remember Tanya from when she hit on Edward & he declined in Midnight Sun (it’s been forever since I read that, but I think I have that right) There isn’t too much gossip I could find out there about her— she is from Sweden, lived for some time in the Middle East and was schooled in London. So basically she must come from money (I mean….) She’s also a year younger than me, which I find odd because I was convinced she was over 30 when we were having a chat because she sounded so mature & grown-up. Which means I need to accept that maybe people “my age” or younger ARE mature & grown up & I’ve just forgotten that I’m no longer 22 (which, if Kristen Stewart is an example, is the worst age ever) And maybe it’s time I mature & grow up. Nah….

But the one bit of info. we learned from MyAnna this week is that…. SHE IS PLAYING A NEW MAID ON DOWNTON ABBEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And now I feel closer than ever to Matthew since I had a phone conversation and got to ask ONE question of a coworker of Matthew’s (Dan Stephens!) who may or may not ever have a scene with him! WEE!!!!

Here are a few questions from the beginning of our interview with MyAnna. Make sure to head over to which is the site hosting MyAnna’s interview today!

Q: A lot of people who are cast talk about the very first time they see themselves in their red or
gold contacts, and that’s the first time they really felt like a vampire. Can you describe what it
was like for us the very first time you saw yourself all decked out in your vampire gear?

MyAnna: It was amazing. I think that’s the first moment that I really, truly, believed that I was doing the film. Because all of it, you know, you have this build up when you get the part and you can’t quite believe it’s true then, and then you arrive and you still can’t quite believe it’s true then. The idea of you becoming a vampire, or becoming part of this incredible group of vampires that’s described in Stephanie’s films, it’s such a far fetched notion in a way, and then all of a sudden as soon as the contacts go in, it’s a reality. Suddenly you are able to see yourself as apart of that group, if you will, and it’s amazing feeling.

Q: Congrats on being cast in Downton Abbey. Can you tell us a little about that part and when
you are starting to work on it?

MyAnna: I’ve already started working on it. I play a maid who joins the rest of the staff downstairs. She causes a bit of mischief and I’m very excited to be playing, her name is Edna, and I’m thrilled, really.

Q: Awesome. Excited to see you in it.

MyAnna: It’s quite fun. All of a sudden, in my the last two years, I have been part of the most amazing stories that we’ve had in the last few years, Twilight, and now Downton.

SUPER excited to see MyAnna as Tanya AND Edna in Downton Abbey– as long as she keeps her grimey maid hands away from Matthew. Check out the rest of the interview on

New Faces Friday: Casey LaBow

Introducing New Faces Friday which is when we introduce a new face on a Friday. Brilliant, huh?

Dear Casey LaBow,

Remember that time we had a round table interview with you & some Twi pals earlier this week? And we got a chance to ask you what you are super passionate about? (Hint: Her answer wasn’t Rob– which is good. One less hot girl WE have to compete with. I THINK WE’RE NEXT GUYS!)

Well, that was fun.

But not as fun as the dude who photoshopped all the character art had this year on the job. The guy was drunk right? And of course I assume it’s a guy– a girl would NEVER do what he did to those beautiful women (and men). More on that later when we’ve recovered long enough to give the pictures a proper Break Down. But it seems like you got the guy on a sober day– you look pretty decent:

Most people don’t know too much about you. But since I’m a 75 year old woman and I watch ALL of the CBS crime shows (Surprised?) I remember you as the Mac-obsessed loveable yet totally creepy Ella. Someone else liked you as Ella too because she took 4 hours out of her day (confessed in the details of the video) to make fan vid:

(And someone remind to do research before interviewing a potentially ex girlfriend of Ryan Gosling.) I found this headline on the every-so-reliable RadarOnline:

Casey LaBow and Ryan Gosling a Couple: Who is Casey LaBow?

Casey LaBow is a girl I sat 3 people from a dinner in LA a few weeks ago oblivious to the fact that I was mere inches from someone who was seen with Ryan Gosling. And maybe dated him according to an unreliable source.

I failed the fandom, guys. I’m sorry. (The Twilight/Ryan Gosling crossover fandom, I mean. Which is every girl. Every where.)

NOW WE HAVE SO MUCH MORE TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT CASEY! Can we get an interview do-over?

The First two questions with Casey LaBow are available below. She plays Kate. It’s okay that you didn’t know that. #ThatsNormal

The rest are available over at

Q: Can you tell us about your audition process for the role of Kate?
A: I believe it was five [auditions], if I remember correctly, it was four or five. Initially, they didn’t tell us which part was for, it was for a “Russian sister.” We weren’t given the exact specifications and we were given these fake scenes that were sort of relevant to the story but weren’t actually from the script. They were sort of this rewrite to make it ambiguous so we wouldn’t know who it was, because if you didn’t get the part they didn’t want you walking away with any plot details. I went back in several different times, they wanted me to do different things like straighten my hair because they thought it looked too much like somebody else, then they gave me some new material. There were a lot of people who had to make the decision and everyone had to come in line. It was my part they had some trouble with because according to Maggie [Grace] and MyAnna [Buring] they just sent tapes in and several weeks later found out they got the role. I didn’t have as easy of a time getting the job.

Q: At what point did you first meet Lee Pace and what was it like working with him?
A: I absolutely adore that man, he is just a delight! You have to get really close to a person when they’re playing your lover, and we just got along right away. I met him on set the first day and the first scene we shot together we had already progressed quickly through the love story so we had to pull it all together right away.

Go over to to read the rest of the interview.

Oh guys there’s more from where this came from. Guess when??? That’s right. On FRIDAY!

Dear The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 (breathe),

We’ve all read the book (this is your queue to leave if you haven’t read the book & don’t know how the saga ends– there will be spoilers. ALSO a Harry Potter spoiler. I know, random.) and we know it ends happily for all involved– especially us fans. Most authors don’t actually give us what we want and keep families and friendships and lovers intact, but Stephenie Meyer said “Screw Shakespeare and that tragic ending stuff. Move over JK Rowling and your need to kill off beloved characters. This book is ending HAPPILY.” And it did. And I was happy. SUCCESS STEPHENIE.

Okay, okay– Romeo and Juliet wouldn’t BE R&J had they not died tragically. And after that many years and that many characters, with many loved characters dying previously, we should’ve seen that one coming in Harry Potter. And sure maybe Breaking Dawn would have more critical acclaim had some key characters been killed in an EPIC battle at the end, but screw critics! I wanted to walk away from that story remembering Bella & Edward’s love, that kid they had that kinda grew on me, and Alice & Jasper, Emmett & Rose & Carlisle & Esme all living happily together– enjoying Thanksgiving dinner with Charlie & Sue & Jake cutting up Renesmee’s deer hyde for her and even Leah stopping over for dessert with her new hunky beau from a neighboring tribe. I WANTED TO FANTASIZE ABOUT THAT. And I did.

HEY! I’ve never been to a Thanksgiving gathering that looked like this….

WHAT is this!? A FIGHT scene? I don’t remember people running towards each other at the end of the book– unless of course they are running into each other’s arms to embrace & apologize for all the hate they had moments prior. This better be the tryouts for some vampire/wolf sporting event. They better not be messing with my perfect fantasy ending of a big wolf-vampire-half human holiday gathering.

So what is Beller doing here? Why is she running?

Leah doesn’t get to call Chris Hansen. I get to be the one to call!

Is she just running into Edward’s arms? Has it been more than 30 minutes since they looked at each other? Is she running to tell Jacob that Chris Hansen is on his way? Did she found out how hot Nahuel is & is running to warn Jacob he might actually have to worry before one of the wolves jokes around that he has lost Renesmee to an Amazonian?

And where is Edward rushing off to here?

oh $h!t! I just realized I forgot to put on deodorant today!

It can’t possible towards the Volturi because that wouldn’t end well. Did he hear a snack on the other side of the woods? Is he concerned about Beller’s vicious appetite & that she can’t even resist the last lone mother deer left in the woods and whose death would mean her fawn would be the an orphaned Bambi? Did Emmett tell him about a new sex move to try with Bella in their private cabin?

Because the’re not running for any sort of battle, that’s for damn sure.

Let’s get Twilosophical for a quick sec:

What do you think about the ending? Are you concerned with what you saw here in the trailer? Are you afraid that the screenwriter & Bill Condon’s creative representation of the book is going to add some sort of battle that was never meant to be there? Do you think they’d actually kill someone just to give movie goers (who haven’t read the book) some excitement at the end?

I really am glad no one dies in the books. And I don’t know what all the running & battle set up really means, but I don’t think it means a Vampire/Wolf war breaks out and blood is shed. However… I can see how they might consider killing someone off in the movie for artistic sake. And I think the ending might be slightly different than in the book. And I’m okay with that.

And I have to admit….while I wouldn’t have been okay with it at all, I can see how literarily it would have made sense to have someone or some people die at the end of the book. But that’s a different letter coming soon ” WHO STEHPHENIE COULD HAVE KILLED OFF.” You might be surprised what we think…… Dun Dun Dunnn

Oh hey– have you been following our newest venture: That’s Normal?  We’re on Tumblr for now. Please read a recent confession I made during a chat with an internet support rep. Plus Like us on Facebook & Follow us on Twitter!

Storytime with UC & Moon: Our “romantic getaway” together in LA

Dear Twilight,

I know you were just THRILLED to hear via Twitter and Facebook that Moon & I were reunited again for a sweet 2 days last week in Los Angeles. And I can imagine you’ve been wondering whatever the reason would be for UC fly across the country to spend less than 48 hours in California (especially when she’ll be going back to LA in less than 10 days time for vacation.) Well, today is the day when you get to hear alllll about it.

Tuesday morning I (UC) flew to LA on a flight that she didn’t miss and with Larry411 no where in sight (read about the first quick trip to LA that was almost disastrous here) It was a little sad, actually. Everything was so Normal. A quick 5 hours and 1 Chris Pine movie later, I arrived in LA to a kick-ass hotel in Hollywood complete with an in-room record player & stocked mini-bar that was raided approximately 1 hour after arrival:

After Moon arrived and hugs were given and we exchanged almost identical birthday gifts (ring holders!) we went to attend our very first activity, basically the reason I flew across the country. Yep, you guessed it- We put our hands & feet in ROBSTEN’s hands and feet. (Poor Taylor)

Let me tell you what this was like. It was MAGICAL. First of all, I have the same size hands as Kristen. This probably means we’re fake lesbian soul mates or something. Secondly, there were CRUMBS in Rob’s footprints which is just so typical isn’t it? Thirdly, this Japanese MALE tourist was in line before us (oh yes.. there was a LINE for the ROBSTEN hand prints) and he took about 12 pictures of himself and the hand & footprints. A UNICORN ALL THE WAY FROM JAPAN, GUYS!

Next we helped ourselves to Gin & Tonics in the hotel room while we did some “work.” And by “Work” I mean we had a google hangout with @brookelockart about a super secret project we may or may not be involved with. Eventually we met up with some other Twi blogger pals & headed to the hotel restaurant for what we assumed was a meet up with Japan’s biggest Twilight fan (coincidentally he’s the Unicorn we saw earlier) but instead we were AMBUSHED by a table of Breaking Dawn cast members. We recognized ONE of them (Congrats Erik Odom!) so we quickly sat down in case we were going to be quizzed about their character’s names during dinner (we weren’t)

During plate after plate of Greek tapas & red wine we got a chance to chat with most of the cast that was there. Don’t worry guys– UC & Moon were ON– we asked all the hard hitting questions like “What helped you get into character during the 2 scenes you were in?” and  “Do you have the kind of relationship with Rob Pattinson where you could call him up to hang out?” adding “Can we call him now?” plus  “No? Can I have his number” and of course “How has Twilight changed your life?”

Actually we asked none of that and instead our questions were more like, “What’s your favorite bar in LA?” or “Have any new iPhone apps I need to try?” and “What kind of dog do you have?” because we don’t really care about any of that other stuff.

And then we took a picture of course:

From Left to right name & character & some fun facts:

Toni Trucks— she plays Mary. We can’t remember who Mary is. She says “Beep” after she tweets. We assume because her last name is Trucks. She’ll be on a new law drama this fall & is moving to New York to start filming. Super Sweet gal!

Noel Fisher— he plays Vladimir and is MUCH less albino in real life than he is on screen. In fact, he’s not Albino at all.

Unintended Choice — I play whoever you want me to play. And yes this picture was after a lot of wine which is why it looks like my dress is falling of and I’m up in Moon’s business.

TheMoonisDown — She plays my bff & Vampire life partner. And LOOK at her killer heels (I tripped over them and fell over COMPLETELY btw)

Jd Pardo— He plays Nahuel and is our new (and only) half-vampire crush. He is SUPER nice and not too bad to look at at all. A real “Letter to JD” coming soon. Stay tuned.

Erik Odom— He plays Peter and was, like I said earlier, the only guy we actually recognized. He’s also the one we called C-list that one time and who tweeted us about it. We didn’t remind him of that at dinner, but since we’re mentioning it again and probably tweeting him today, we think he’ll remember. SORRY ERIK WE <3 YOU!

Missing from the pic was Casey Labow who had to leave early. She plays Kate from the Denali Clan. Oh and we can’t forget Jack Morrissey — partner to Bill Condon & beloved hero of “Team Jack.” We chatted with Jack for awhile, but I was on glass of wine #3 and I can’t remember much.

And before you’re impressed with my Twilight-blogging skills, Yes, I had to look up most all of the character names.

More after the Jump!
