Originalward

Never Forget!

Dear Edward,

Today, when I logged into Tumblr I was greeted with a couple posts featuring pictures of you (or Robert Pattinson as it were) in the first Twilight film with the tag “Originalward” and a lot of “I miss him’s” accompanying it. Besides giving me a “Cullen smile” (haha remember that?) I felt the same but only in a different way. Sure, I miss cute, unassuming Rob as Edward and the fun of the first Twilight movie but I miss the ORIGINAL Edward. The OG written version of you is so much different than the Robert Pattinson, Summit approved version of you. Both are great, clearly, but there’s just something that OGward has that Movieward doesn’t.

Oh hey there

Originalward wore clothes befitting an insurance salesmen in the midwest. But even with your oatmeal colored sweaters, the mind blowingly ugly and the lady boner killer white sleeveless button up, we still swooned. Stephenie could have written that you wore a black Hefty bag and drove to school in a windowless van and we still would have inwardly screamed like we were 14 year olds at a Beatles concert. I don’t know what she did when she created you other than lace each page of that original run of books with crack. I also wonder sometimes if you reversed the words on each page they contain some sort of life altering subliminal message meant to make us question all men (and the sexiness of ankle length skirts).

Nope, not this Volvo

Originalward also only ever drove ONE Volvo. THIS Volvo… and not that I’m the kind of person to knick pick about a car, cause, really who cares if Robert Pattinson is driving a trash truck or a Maserati to pick you up? It’ still Robert Pattinson picking you up. Or Bella. BUT it does represent a different Edward, an Edward who gets a new car every year and not safe responsible, trying to sorta blend in, wearing the clothes of a chess club member Edward. Originalward drove a Volov that my old coworker drove, a Volvo that’s kinda mom-ish, a mid 2000’s model and not the latest greatest one. Not that I wouldn’t drive a brand new beautiful Movieward approved Volvo, Volvo dealers of America! Email us!

Well you shouldn't have said that

When Stephenie wrote that you spoke as if you were from another time, she wasn’t joking… what high schooler do you know who speaks like that? And while Movieward has his moments and says a lot of lines directly from the text, it is a decidedly modern take on Edward. I mean come on with line likes this:

“Before you, Bella, my life was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were stars – points of light and reason.. And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fire; there was brilliancy, there was beauty.”

Or even when Edward got playful… most times Movieward is pretty serious…

”  Bella, it’s not my fault if you are exceptionally unobservant.”

Going back and reading Twilight again a few months ago I was reminded how different Stephenie’s Edward is from Movieward but that’s what makes both special and both fun to revisit… but really there’s nothing like your first love…

Oh and lets not forget Edward snagging Bella’s Snapple cap after their first lunch together. The Snapple cap yall! The.Snapple.Cap. Oh Originalward… *sigh*

XO,
Themoonisdown

Thanks for the inspiration to talk about the OG Originalward: Socalmom2four and anyone she reblogs ;)

Who are all these new people?! Volurti and Twitter don’t mix

Beller is alive!! And so are all these other Vampires I don't know...

Dear LTT-ers,

Remember when we didn’t know who the guys in the Wolfpack were or who Harry was? And we call them stuff like Nerdy Wolf and Australian dude? Well while I was away it seems like anyone who has ever been cast as a vampire came out to play in the public eye. While I was trying to catch up in the weeks of twi-news I missed, I kept saying WHO is that?! WHO is this?! That albino dude is in Breaking Dawn? So I think it’s time we catch up with the newbs (the ones I care about at least) and give them a little run down on how shiz works around these Twilight parts…

Something's not right here, right???

Vladamir, The albino guy – aka Noel Fisher
I have a lot of questions for this guy… is it bleached? Was he born this way (ain’t no other way)? I thought the Romanian Vamps were HELLA old and creep sauce looking. He may be a tad creeper but he looks 16. More just learning to drive and hide my back-ne then dark forces of the underworld.

Stefan (not Urkel) – aka Guri Weinberg
This dude went on and on about playing some big prank on the set of BD and while I enjoy a good “Go Fuck Yourself” as much as the next person, when I hear “prank” and “Breaking Dawn” in the same sentence I’m hoping some switched out Bella’s cup of fake blood for the REAL thing… or at least have Bill Condon to ask the wolfpack to not rely on CGI but to really bust naked out of their clothes and phase, with a straight face.

Srsly yall, The Pacific, Rami Malek get on this train!

Benjamin, Egyptian Vamp – aka Rami Malek
He’s pretty much the only new Vamp I really care about because he was kick ass in The Pacific, looked freaking cute with his long board in Larry Crowne but really I like him because I saw him on my way to Target a few weeks ago in his black Prius wearing one of those pork pie hats and any vamp who loves the earth and tiny hats is fine by me.

Eleazar – aka Christian Camargo
Clearly, Dexter’s brother is the only other new Vamp I really care about. Too bad his name is Eleazar and not Brian/Rudy the Ice Truck Killer… but I think I’ve waxed eloquently on this topic before.

They all seem to be starting Twitter accounts and tweeting each other and the fans like they’ve been around for decades, even telling Twihards if they’re a REAL fan they’ll follow Volturi Guard number whoever decided to join the twittersphere that week. Um no, actually I am a real fan but I only need one Tinsel Korey tweeting misspelled missives about the end of the world in my feed. One love yall! One of these is more than enough! THANKS!

Do they really think we believe them about being a true fan? Do we care? NO! Have they ever asked Stephenie Meyer to play “Fuck/Kill/Marry” with her own characters? I THINK NOT! And THAT’S how you do it Twilight Vampire newbies… a late welcome to the ‘hood from us.

Runs with Vampires… or something,
Themoonisdown

Do you feel as confused as I am about all these new people? Should I have flashed Rami Malek in his Prius? Yes? know, missed opportunity. And are you a real fan? Enough to follow all these yahoos on Twitter?

Twilosophy – Why the embarrassment?

Dear Breaking Dawn,

I was totally surprised to see your trailer Friday night before Super 8 on the huge ass cinedome screen at the Arclight Hollywood. I had NO clue we would see it and I was a tad unprepared and at one point embarrassed. Don’t get my wrong I cheered, clapped and helped lead some inappropriate Arsenio Hall-style hooting when Jacob takes off his shirt… BUT when it got to the Bella touching her nonexistent stomach part, I cringed a little and waited for what I thought would be inevitable laughs. Thankfully there was no laughing and maybe thats because all my friends were in my general vicinity and either they’re too good to me or they know I would kick them in the b-hole if they laughed.

Ok, so we know (clearly, look around) I love you, I love Twilight, I tolerate other people’s dumb comments about you, and I’ve given you many years of my life now, there is NOTHING to be embarrassed about at this point. But why was I? I know what happens, I get (sorta) why it happens and I like that it leaves it open for Stephenie to possibly continue the story with Reneesmee and Jacob yet I was cringing a tad.

But wait, you don't understand!! This will all make sense in the end! I swear!

I was to chalk it up to me being protective of Twilight and everyone’s ignorant comments about what they THINK the Twilight story is or isn’t. I also like to think my protectiveness extends beyond just the story and Stephenie (cause I lurve her, duh) and even the movies. I’m protective of our readers and their stories and their lives. Because if we’ve learned anything from the past couple years this is WAY bigger than just the story of a girl and her vampire crush turned boyfriend turned husband turned Robert Pattinson. Twilight is all of us. And I can’t be having no one laugh at you or me. Or Edward.

That’s the only way I can rationalize my feelings over the trailer because who wouldn’t love to see a 60 foot Wyck Godfrey, Stephenie Meyer or Rob’s back in front of them? NO ONE, that’s who! So embarrassed or protective or whatever you wanna call it, I was but it’s because I love you!

Can it be November 18th now?
Themoonisdown

Am I being irrational or has anyone else felt the same way… especially with Breaking Dawn? Anyone else see the trailer this weekend?

Things I miss about Twilight

Dear Twilight,

I’ve had some time to do some thinking on my mini-break while Moon is in Europe & a few things have come to mind: I miss you. I miss when you were EVERYWHERE. Sure you’re still around. And this Fall you’ll be crazy again with Breaking Dawn Part 1, but I miss when everyday things made me think of you & made me laugh in the oddest ways.

I had a great opportunity to meet 2 girls I met through LTT who are from BELGIUM (remember Alice & Bella from Not an Addikt?) this past weekend in New York. I’ll share more about that later, but being with them reminded me of a few things I miss. So without further ado:

Cathy Hardi & her love for the Ultimate “Cougarita” at TGIFridays. Why TGIFridays? Why a big, watered-down margarita? Who knows! But it fits, you know it does:

Click me for ultimate LOLs

Big Daddy and his love for Fish-o-Filet sandwiches (and our inability to call that sammy by the correct name), The Olive Garden & any sort of fried delight:

Buttcrack Santa and all the places he’d pop up. Plus it gave us many excuses to post disgusting pictures of drunk, naked Santa Clauses:

I miss you

Wolfgirl. You early readers will remember when Moon & I started a campaign to marry Taylor Lautner & my youngest sister:

Meeting Stephenie Meyer cause that was just awesome. And this June is really hard without excitement like last year!

I also miss that hairclip. I lost it.

Moon cause she does stuff like this, among other things:

I could go on and on!!! I’ll save more for another time.  What do you miss!?

Love,
UnintendedChoice

Books Stephenie should write, other than Midnight Sun

One of these days I won’t work 12 hours & I’ll actually be able to write my own LTTs. Until then, thank God for LTT friends who write amazing letters for us. Today, hear from The Plane Friend- the friend I met, on a plane, in college (and reconnected with via LTT!)

I'm a fangirl!

Dear Stephenie,

I have to admit that it’s really bizarre to address a letter to you. I’ve never written to an author before, despite how much I computer-stalk all their web sites, blogs, and interviews. It’s even more unbelievable to me that I’m going to write one of my favorite authors under the moniker of The Plane Friend…and on a fan site.

As I sat down to write this, I thought about all the ways I could go with this letter, my first addressed to you: a real live, uber-successful author, which is what I have dreamed of being since I was a teenager. I could embarrass myself (and garner some second-hand embarrassment) by gushing like the fan-girl I am, but I doubted UC would publish that—even if we are long-lost friends—because I know it wouldn’t be worth reading. I also considered asking you all the questions I’d ask if I were going to interview you (none of which would be the “did you really come up with Twilight from a dream?” question). Since it’s unlikely you’d respond in the comment section, though, I figured it wouldn’t be nice to give everyone at LTT even more things to ponder over.

But as I considered these and all the other options, I decided on a shocking confession (because you care about the confessions of women you’ve never met, right?) and some writing prompts. Because I KNOW that you, NY Times Bestselling author of a saga we all love, needs writing help from a fan you’ve never met. (Ha—I can barely type for laughing at myself). Because why wouldn’t you want writing advice from a stranger who is still hounding literary agents to consider her first attempt at a book? So, here goes.

Meh

My shocking confession: I don’t care if you ever finish Midnight Sun or not.

Don’t get me wrong, I loved the first 267 pages. I would read the rest writhing with unadulterated glee the whole time. I would love to spend more time in Edward’s head, because, like everyone else here, I’m kinda in love with him. But I assume I’m in the huge minority of your fan base who would much rather read a sequel to Breaking Dawn than ever get my hands on any more of Midnight Sun. (I know, I know, LTT readers, you think I’m insane. You want to throw rotten tomatoes at me [or worse!] But just hear me out).

While listening to all the sound clips from the Eclipse fan-junket interview, I was flipping out when I listened to your plans for continuing the story. There were just so many potential great scenes I could come up with for a book narrated by Nessie and Leah, so I can’t even imagine what mind-blowing ideas you have. Plus, Leah is probably my favorite female character in your books—Alice running a close second and Bella a distant third, in case anyone is interested—so I’d really love to hang out with her again. I know that I’m probably WAY on the margins of your fan base here with my affinity for Leah, but I like girls that aren’t apologetic about being in touch with their angry side and, whatever, people are different. I mean, most of the people on this site think Rob Pattison is like the hottest guy in the universe. When I see his interviews, I think he’s hilarious, but he just doesn’t do it for me. He doesn’t hold a candle to the Edward in my head…who, conveniently, looks a lot more like my husband than Rob.
But I digress.

So back to my other point: writing prompts. These were the scenes I was imagining when thinking of this sequel, and I thought I’d share them, just in case they sparked some kind of revival inside you that made you want to write about your vampires again soon. (Ok, I know I’m dreaming here, but you can’t blame a girl for trying, right?)

I'm tired of being alone. Please Stephenie. Please!

Some potential scenes:

  • The Cullens, (which now include vampire-Bella and a teenage/grown Nessie) in high school again. Now, not only does Edward have to endure the vulgar minds of high school boys, he has to listen to them drone on about his wife—and his daughter—and somehow not kill them.
  • A grown-up Nessie falling in love with Jacob/Nahuel/other guy we’ve never met….and having her FATHER be able to read her mind and know everything she has done, thought about doing, or plans to do with this guy. (Oh, the horror! Can we all breathe a collective “Thank you, God!” here that our fathers can’t read our minds?)
  • Nessie and said romantic interest somewhere near-by, and when Edward tries to “listen” in, Bella shields them…and Nessie gets to hear the resulting conversation between her parents. Because that would be funny.
  • Having someone imprint on Leah. Because I’d love to know what that girl would do with a love- sick virtual slave. OR:
  • Leah imprinting on someone. Because you might have to give her a personality transplant.
  • Alice having a vision of their after-life as one possible outcome to a Volturi threat, so that the Cullens know that there is something else out there for them after they die. (But please don’t kill Alice! You can kill Lauren, Jessica, or Rosalie if someone has to go).
  • Jacob getting Nessie pregnant with some strange vampire/werewolf hybrid, because we all want to know what in the world that child would be (and who it could destroy!)
  • Rosalie and/or Leah’s reaction to Nessie having a baby…because I bet both of them would have some severe issues with it. (Hmm, could Rosalie try to steal this kid? I really expected her to try to kill off Bella in BD at one point to try to steal Nessie, so I’m just waiting for “Ice Cold Barbie” to snap.)
  • The Cullens and their friends taking out the Volturi, vigilante-style. Because Aro and Jane, at least, really have it coming.

So what do you think? Any chance we’ll see another vampire book on the shelves sometime? You can steal any of the above ideas you like without crediting me. Or, you know, you could just use all your own ideas, which, I am sure, are much better than mine anyway.

In all seriousness (despite this being LTT where seriousness is thin on the ground sometimes), I don’t care if you write this book next or in ten years, but I’d really, really like to read it. So what do you say? Can we have a BD sequel someday? Please?

Love, adoration, and begging from,

The Plane Friend

P.S. You know, if you ever wrote this book, no one here would mind if you could convince Summit, Robsten, Taylor, & co. to make it into another Twilight movie, either :) . Just a thought.

What story do you wish Stephenie would write (other than Midnight Sun!?) I’m going to go with a cliche & say I’d like to read Jasper & Alice’s love story the most!
