Remind me I’m NOT alone!

Dear LTT- I’ve been missing you all. The latter half of 2010 was SO busy for me and Twi-news slowed down SO much that I’ve felt MIA. I’ve been here, and I’ve been reading your comments. But I’ve had little time to comment back. We’re SO far behind on email responding it’s not even funny. Literally there are great question suggestions for our interview with Stephenie Meyer back in JUNE sitting in our inbox that I never responding to. Fail. I’m adding a resolution to last week’s LTT resolutions that I’ll be more LTT and Twilight “present.” Then again one of my personal resolutions is to be more committed to my job. And to my marriage. And friends & sisters. That’s a lot of stuff. Do I have time to fit Rob in there? (That’s what she said). What about Big Daddy? Will a time come in my life where I have to choose between the two? RIGHT- as if you have any QUESTION about who I’d choose. The Olive Garden would be soooooo boring with Rob. Big Daddy all the way!

Anyway, I spent the last day of my wonderful holidays in NYC with my beautiful girl cousins. THREE of them are pregnant. There was a lot of baby talk, eating & pee breaks. But my wonderful day got me home very late and I have to get to work on time tomorrow. Something about a resolution I made last year about being “committed to my job.” Bleh. Bad idea. So I’ll blog again soon. I do truly miss you. But today Stella takes the reigns, leading us in a discussing that I think is worth having! Miss you all! XO -UC

TwilosophyDear Twilight,

I had a girl’s night out last week for the first time in ages.  You know, one of those nights where you get Husband to put the kids to bed so you can meet up to pretend you are still 22 and ready to rage? Well I had one too many drinks (which these days is two) and the next thing you know I am spilling my Twilight guts out to the ladies!  No this wasn’t as if I were hanging out with any one of you girls from LTT /LTR, I was hanging out with Twilight virgins who had no idea what in the hell I was slurring about.  Needless to say, I didn’t win over any new fans of the saga and left the night feeling lonely and well… weird.

I am sure you are asking, what could I possibly have said to have turned a lovely night of girl talk into one of shame and misfortune?!  Well it wasn’t so much one thing that I said, it was that I just went on and on about the philosophy behind THE Twilight and I even waxed poetic about you lovely readers who I so felt one with and didn’t even know.  My audience sat there staring at me… crickets….

twilight cake

How can they NOT think this is funny!?

Why are these women, my so-called friends, so adamant about not reading Twilight….Why??  What are they afraid of??  Why do they bother putting themselves above it?  I mean REALLY!!  Why must they deny themselves the joy of the love triangle and blood lust?  I feel that I have given them a gift that they have ungratefully left unopened!  Those bitches!!
I am reaching out to you for support.  Please remind me how normal I am!  How were you introduced to Twilight?  Did anyone have to twist your arm to read it?  Do your friends make you feel crazy, juvenile, non-intellectual, weird…..Did you ever show up late to a preschool board meeting and exclaim (out of breath and rosy cheeked), “Sorry I am sooooooo late!  I just HAD to finish the end of Breaking Dawn!”?   (Yes, this is a true story and the director of the school was waiting for me to arrive so she could give her resignation—oh the horror!!)  Has your husband ever

Embrace it

accused you of being a horny teenager, but like not in a good way?   Do your kids yell things out like, “Look mom, there is your Edward!” when standing in line at Target?  Have you ever anonymously left a copy of Twilight at any one of your friend’s homes, in hopes they will read it and then obsess over it with you?

Please help me, and ……THANK YOU LTT/LTR ladies for loving Twilight like I do and going on and on about it day after day.  I love you for it and I love that when I find myself asking if I am normal you answer back, YES, a resounding YES!!!

Your (I hope) friend in solidarity,
Stella (and no that’s not my real name—oh the shame, that I must hide behind a pseudonym!)

Well, you’re getting a resounding YES from me, Stella! I BLOG about this stuff daily & it took me 2 years to get my sister to read the series (She loved it. I win!) and some friends still look at me like I’m crazy. You are not alone. We should write a song. And sing it around a campfire. At a Quileute tribal meeting.

Don’t forget- starting today the Resolutionary Challenge 2011 is kicking off on the forum! Make sure you join everyone if you’re looking for fun, encouragement & healthy living in 2011!!! Resolutionary Challenge 2011

That’s (Not) Normal

UC & Moon

Is this normal?

Dear Normal LTTers,

Writing down our LTT history part 1 the other day got me thinking about what I deemed the “LTT mantra” and the “LTT lifestyle” That’s Normal. And I started thinking…. but is it really? I mean, is any of this normal? I like to think that Moon & I have an excuse for blogging about vampires (almost!) every day- we have an audience now & the pressure (much loved!) to entertain. But…. is that really the only reason we do this day after day? I love you all, I really do, but I’m not sure that’s enough. I might have to admit that we still do this day in & day out because we love Twilight just as much as we did on December 8, 2008. Sure, the love has changed slightly, but it’s still there. And is that, well, normal?

Do you remember when my friend UrbanGirl went into a storage closet at work to read Breaking Dawn? And how about when I went with my friends Italian Girl, Tex, PregPants & UrbanGirl to see Twilight? They were FANATICS- but I’m pretty sure UrbanGirl saw only half of Eclipse on a plane ride and the others haven’t even watched it once. What happened? Are they the normal fans? Loved & obsessed over the books & first movie(s), but then the love faded? Or am I normal? Still going strong- 2 or 3+ years later?

I’m not sure. I know Moon still texts or calls me whenever something great/good/awesome/funny/NOT NORMAL happens in the fandom. We’re definitely the same level of normal or not normal-ness- whatever that is. And just the other week a bunch of the original LTTers ended up talking about Twi in an email chain- so even they still think about it occasionally. But Mr. Choice
seems to think that my continuing love for Twi is not normal. Then again, can he really judge? He never thought it was normal.

About 3 things I am absolutely positive. First, that joke never gets old. Second, there is a part of me, and I don’t know how dominant that part might be, that doesn’t care if anyone thinks I’m “Not Normal.” And third, I am unconditionally and irrevocably grateful for the “That’s Normal” Mantra & lifestyle.

But just in case you’re now questioning your normalness like I am, here’s quick check list to test where you’re at:

-It’s still totally normal to swoon whenever a new pic of Rob Pattinson surfaces

-It’s no longer normal to show up to a 100 monkeys concert just because you know you’ll be in the presence of tons of Twilight fans who “get you.” You should only risk your life at one of those if you’re an actual fan. (And let’s be honest, no one is one of those.)

-Liking Kristen is totally normal. It’s also quite normal to like Rob. And if it’s your cup of tea, you can EVEN like them gasp together! But spending your free time hating on those with different opinions? NOT NORMAL

-Having a day go by where you actually forget about Twilight: Normal
(This also applies when you forget you have a blog about Twilight)

-Looking at a new popsugar or Just Jared post & immediately emailing us that “THE MEDIA WROTE ABOUT BIG DADDY LAUTNER” before realizing that the post & corresponding pictures actually have Taylor Lautner in them: Quite Normal.

-Thinking that Ashley Greene has a chance at a legitimate career in non-fluff movies: Not normal

-Having a Twitter Profile that looks something like this is quite normal:

This is Moon’s profile (it’s also true)

-Publicly declaring THIS (and obviously never being told that tweets are PUBLIC and INDEXED by search engines & seen by OTHERS outside of your circle where saying stuff like that is considered normal)

NOT NORMAL

-Driving by an Olive Garden without immediately thinking of UC & Moon: Not Normal

-Thinking that Kellan actually likes it when you hump him at a Twicon after you pay your $156 bill to get 1 picture and the chance to grab his pecs: Not normal

-Laughing hysterically when you’re in the mall & hear the Taylor Swift song “Back to December” after the line “How’s your family” because you insert a quick “What I’m really saying is I miss your dad” as you sing along: Normal.

-Starting to line up for the Water for Elephants premiere next week: Not normal.

-Remembering a Twilight quote (like the one I used above) enough that you want to use it in a blog post (Normal) but not knowing it EXACTLY so you have to grab the book and/or google: also normal

So am I alone in wondering if I (minus you all and Moon!) am the only “normal” one left? And if I am alone, does that make me NOT normal? What else is normal or not normal these days!?

Yours in normalcy (or not),
UnintendedChoice

LTT is much more than UC & Moon… err or Twilight, which is what it’s mostly about…

Dear LTTers,

I like writing random, rambling, long blog post titles that mess up your phone if you try to read the letter online or stretch the screen if you use a computer. It’s fun. Especially for Friday. It’s the little things, guys!

Anyway, in keeping with the celebratory tone of our 2 year anniversary, we wanted to share a few short letters we received this week as well as some pics I’ve been hanging on to for a time such as this- submissions by YOU ALL of you & your LTT merch!

Dear Letters to Twilight,

I met my LTT Cosmic Twin!

One fine day, I was cracking up reading the LTT comments when one commenter’s opinions kept catching my attention. We had sooo much in common… in only one day of comments: a love of Twilight, a hint of snark and humor, 3 year old daughters who didn’t sleep the night before, and the same name! (Not to mention a love of Somerhalder, Skarsgard and that cute, little chain smoking monkey-Mr. Robert Pattinson!) I ended up replying to her that I though she was my LTT doppleganger… and that’s how West Coast Stacey (snowwhitedrifted) met East Coast Stacey.

We ended up being pen pals, well email pals nowadays, ’cause who uses pens? Then twitter buds and we realized we were cosmic twins. We became each other’s enablers, writing fan fics as well as a co-authoring a bunch of letters to twilight posts… and now we have a blog to discuss all the juicy goodness of this ridiculous little world we have found. This downward spiral has been one heck of a ride and I’m so glad of it! Thank you, LTT, for the magicness!

-The Staceys
(snowwhitedrifted and East Coast Stacey)

This LTT girl takes a picture with someone familiar looking before heading to feed the alpacas with the snacks she keeps in her LTT girl bag.

UC and Moon, you have helped keep the Twi-love alive. Here’s a pic of me when I went to Port Angeles and Forks this past summer with two Twi-friends, repping LTT with my favorite tote bag ever. We made total fools of ourselves, spending the extra five bucks to stay in the Twilight room at the hotel, and sporting fake wolf pack tattoos for our trip to La Push. Cause that’s Normal.
-kitkat89

The following collection features some fangirling from: Twiwind Night – ICanHandleIt (proudly wearing jorts), VoteMeIn (wearing a Tweed Serious shirt and leg hitching) & EJ

And Cledbo reads printed out fan fiction, rocking her “Fade to Sad” shirt while wearing hot red heels. That’s Normal.

These girls look like they’re in a bar that happens to decorate itself in Twi-photos. Aka a DREAM bar. Or in reality they’re just Tweed Serious at one of their homes, but shhh- I like living in a fantasy world where a bar’s walls are decorated in Edward & Jacob & Rainier Beer is the only thing on tap

KandnandB rocks the I love British Boys book while wearing her “Big in Japan” t-shirt. Ya know, just a normal Friday night

They’re not Bears!!! It’s a muscled Jacob Doll, in a public space. (And a VERY brave girl!)

I’m bothered that snowwhitedrifted’s Bothered shirt is backwards in this picture:

And Obava travels to a far off land & brings her LTT shirt along- we’re so proud! So is her son. (He’s too young to be embarrassed yet!)

These pictures make me so happy! Nothing is more fulfilling than making a bad joke with your friend Moon over instant messenger one night, posting it on a blog the next morning, seeing people’s reaction to said bad joke & then seeing the joke ON a tshirt in a bar, in a foreign land, on a bad, feeding alpacas, embarrassing your families, etc. etc. etc!

Thanks to everyone who submitted pictures recently & so long ago! And I’m sorry if I didn’t put your fake name on here- I had the files saved with your real names & figured you didn’t want those shared. :)

And in case you missed my comment on Wednesday, I had a horrific day at work and after my 10.5 hour work day, 2 hours driving & when I finally hit the pillow and looked at all the comments on my phone that night, I was so overwhelmed with all your love! I appreciate each & every one of you! I’m being Tweed Serious.

xoxo,
UC

(PS: If you have something from the LTT/LTR store, send us a picture- we’ll feature it eventually!!! And if you don’t own anything- DUDE! Put it on your Christmas list! And snowwhitedrifted made some new designs we’ll be unveiling any day now :):) Wearing shirts about vampires & werewolves is normal: Buy some now!

Two Years of Magicness on Letters to Twilight!

Can you feel the magicness?

Dear Beloved readers, friends and Twipeoples far and wide,

Come gather round, hop on our bearskin rug we bought especially for this occasional (trust us it’s a bitch to find one this large) and lets stoke up the fireplace. Someone fire up the microwave and pop a top on some Andre because TODAY IS OUR TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARY!!! Last year we each remembered what a year of LTT and LTR had meant to us. So this year we decided to remember all those special moments during our second year of reeking havoc in the Twidom.

Moment of Magicness #1
UC
: I had 2 cups of coffee this am
Moon: speaking of 2…. TWO YEARS, dude
UC: DUDE
Moon: 2 years!
UC: yes
Moon: the number 2….. 2 turtle doves
UC: ROBSTEN… it’s a sign
Moon: no. it’s not. but we can talk about our own fireplace moments like leg hitching with steph?
UC: oh yes- DUDE
Moon: Dude, why are you stealing my word?

Yup, we did this. UC is still in shock

I’m sure we can all agree that the biggest thing that happened to LTT and UC and me would be getting picked to interview Stephenie Meyer before the Eclipse premiere last June. BUUUTTT I would like to argue that perhaps an even bigger moment came when after jokingly I suggested we get an official leg hitch picture, Stephenie actually agreed and if we’re all being honest her I think she may have been a little excited about it, but don’t tell anyone! Honestly (this is a lot of honesty in this post already) I think UC and I are beyond grateful that we were chosen and got to meet the lady behind the saga and the ultimate reason we began this thing. She was super wonderful, nice and beautiful to boot. And really, talking about high schools where we grew up and lipstick with a best selling author just doesn’t happen every day. Unless you’re like Pancho or something and in that case he probably doesn’t want to hear about her lipstick. HIS LOSE!

Moment of Magicness #2
UC: Remember when you went to the Runaways premiere?
Moon: and I took a poster of a mullet? Yes, I do!

Me and some LA pals went to the premiere of the Runaways last spring to see what we could see: Kristen, Dakota, Joan, etc etc and we thought well we can’t show up empty handed so we brought this poster:

We may have gotten a few looks for the homeless dude on the corner waiting to see some girl-on-girl action but we knew Kristen would appreciate it. SEE! We don’t hate Kristen! Geez.

He’s like a Twi-Angel with a jewfro

Moment of Magicness #3
UC: big moment: seeing Larry411 in the airport
Moon: Awwww you and Larry!

After UC’s alarm clock malfuntion and missing her flight to LA for the Stephenie Meyer interview and being rebooked on another flight (thank God!) UC was greeted at her gate by a familar face. Not Rob (sadly) but almost as good, it was Larry411 Twilight tweeter and blogger extrodiaire and personal pet favorite of ours. Amidst the snot and tears and near heart attacks it was like the angels opened a portal from heaven and placed Larry411 at UC’s gate. Who else can be blamed credited for this miracle than God because why else would two big ol twihards be on the same plane together if it wasn’t for a little prayer being answered.

Moment of Magicness #4
Moon: How about jorts and ltt immortalized in the Eclipse DVD commentary
UC: haha

No really, this happened??!!!

Really, I mean there are no words. Just this last Saturday we both finally got to hear it with our own two ears after the Eclipse DVD finally came out and it was pretty awesome to say the least. I felt like a rockstar in my own house after Stephenie mentioned LTT and everyone started clapping and hollering for me. It was like an 80s movie slow clap. Maybe I should have jumped up on the bar and gave a small speech something like this:

Oh my gosh, you guys! I mean it was a honor to even be nominated… I mean write this blog let alone take a term like jorts and make it popular amongst the Twi crowd. I’m so sad UC couldn’t be here but she’s currently in Baton Rouge being a stand in for BooBoo but we’d both like to thank God and WordPress and our poor poor families for putting up with us and the makers of Andre.

Moment of Magicness #5
UC: Another moment: our big party in LA at your house
Moon: awwwww that was a whole lotta magicness
UC: that moment when, perhaps I had one too many sips of “Bella’s Blood” that Mr. Choice made me, but I looked around & realized “Whoa… there are people here who wouldn’t be here were it not for LTT….” people who would have never talked- maybe woudln’t have anything in common…. and got a little sappy when we ran to your bedroom to put prizees together for our LTT-trivia game! right after Obird sang us opera in your bedroom!

Woah!

You know, just 40+ of your closest friends seeing Eclipse together!

Moment of Magicness #6
Moon: What about seeing eclipse with like 45 people?!
UC: yes- you telling me where you put all the tickets you bought, just in case you died before the movie
Moon: cause THATS IMPORTANT and normal!
Moon: i still wanted people to see eclipse even if i died… and maybe yell out my name at the leg hitch in memoriam
UC: hahahahahahahaha
Moon: RIP

Moment of Magicness #7
UC: the first thing Stephenie saying to us “I read LTT every day, I’m more nervous to meet you than you are to meet me”

The exact moment (or not)

Yea, that was like crushing on that cute guy in your homeroom for like 6 months and then finally one night at a football game he comes over to where you’re sitting and asks if you and your girls want to get slices (or tacos in my case) with him and his boys after. UM, HALE YES?!

Marry me Jackson… I mean…

Moment of Magicness #8
Moon: what about you interviewing Jacky in Philadephia for Moviefone and being called the SUPERFAN!!!

What else can be said for UC standing in the middle of a busy outdoor venue in Philly to take part in Moviefone’s Eclipse fan events all over the country?! She represented by asking Jackson what was up with all those heinous wigs and since Jasper has different hair in every movie would BD Jasper have a red mullet? Oh yes. She did.

Moment of Magicness #9
UC:  dude we had a HUGE YEAR wtf?
Moon: dude our JUNE was HUGE!! Part 1 and Part Two!
Moon: June was out of control! Switching from WordPress.com to our self hosted sites (finally!), all the Steph stuff, you interviewing Jackson, Eclipse Con, the premiere and what about the video we made about kstews fashion for VH1 that never hit the airwaves?!
UC: yes! which would have been hilarious!
Moon: remember the Popsicle sticks with ratings we madeL “Stew-pid” and “Stew-pendous?” AH! Sad the world was deprived of that. And what about us being interviewed by that Philly tv channel on Eclipse premiere day?
UC: At 6AM, in our PJ pants.

This will open in a new window since they don’t have embeds. LAME.

Moon: I’m pretty sure my roommates may have thought we were insane getting all twilsophical at 6am LOUDLY. I also like that the interview made it look like I’m a mute (far from it) because they edited out the end when I said some stuff. Thanks UC!

Talk about a Happy Birthday!

Moment of Magicness #10 & 11
Moon: Oh and we can’t forget the epicness of your birthday greetings! Who knew that people would remember your story about clutching a loaf of bread while drunk on a toliet? One of my favorite posts to put together cause our readers are SO creative and remember everything!
UC: YES, that was the best
Moon: that also makes me think of the “While You Were Away” posts on LTT and LTR you and readers put together for me while I was away in Kenya this summer. We had talked about what would happen if some big news or event happened while I was gone and how we’d deal And I was worried about being behind when I got back but you had it covered!
UC: awww this makes me miss you. i wish we were in front of a real fireplace remembering right now!
Moon: With the sounds of Robsten on commentary in the background, cause they have the true magicness but I guess we’ll have to settle for IM since that’s how we’ve made this work for the last 2 years, why mess up a good thing?

What a year! Who knows what year THREE will bring us! We can’t wait!

A personal note:
I always feel inadequate when I’m tasked to describe our blogs and the people who frequent them because it’s easy for the outside world, “civilians” to generalize what they think a “Twilight Fan” is when we all know that there’s so much more to it. We’re not all tweens, we’re not all crazy Twimoms on Oprah, and we’re not all cat ladies. Sure there are those among us but they just make this a lot more fun (and embarrassing!). I always want to tell the people who ask that you’re all so much more and not only are you fantastic readers but many of you are fantastic FRIENDS! Seriously, some of your are some of my closest friends. I guess loving these sparkly vampires brings people together. I used to always tells my friends in high school that liking NSYNC brings people together and it’s the same thing with Twilight. Liking Twilight has been the catalyst for so many friendships, you find out someone else likes it then a whole world opens up and you find common ground and it becomes so much more than Twilight. I just want to thank YOU for being so much more to us that you can ever imagine.

And to UC I can’t  put into words our partnership (though we tried last year at this time) or how much this whole thing has meant to me but you mean the world to me! Shall we do another year? I’m in it if you are!

Super Special Thanks the LTT/LTR Family: our forum mods (past and present) you keep that place rolling and have built an amazing community. The Font and White Yorkie for podcasting with us and providing a very hilarious male point of view, for talking us off ledges, making fun of us and braving this thing. Stacey, our shop designer who kills it with the merch and keeps us all looking less 2nd hand embarrassed. EVERYONE who has ever contributed a guest post and saved our butts more than a few late nights! We truly couldn’t do it without you all!

Thank you all for reading over the past two years, for hanging in there when you didn’t agree, for being happy with us when exciting things happen, for having our backs and for just being you.

Love and other goopy things!
Themoonisdown

Have any special fireplace type memories you want to share? Email us the magicness with the subject “2 Years of Magicness” and we’ll pick some to share this week! Don’t feel the need to make it long! Keep it short and sweet and/or send a picture, send a video of your first meeting with your LTT/LTR soulmart/Eclipse Party/LTT TShirt/Whatever and we’ll keep this special feeling going!

The Twilight cast visits Belgium. Wait where?

I asked LTT friends Alice & Bella from funny, snarky site NotanAddikt (RIP!) to take meticulous notes when Twilight descended upon Belgium. Yes, that’s right- the land of the waffles, beer and monks got a Twilight actor more famous than Philadelphia did (Sorry Jackson & wolf that came with him) Here is their tale:

Dear Summit,

We don’t know who bribed you into sending Ashley Greene and Xavier Samuel to Belgium, of all places, for the Eclipse premiere, but we sure are greatful. We don’t usually get many US celebrities around here in Belgium. We may be home to the capital of Europe, the best chocolate in the world and a different brand of beer for every day of the year, but the closest we usually get to Hollywood celebrities is when they jet by on their way from London to Paris. We’re not a particularly proud or easily offended nation, so we shrug and turn to YouTube for our Tinseltown fixes. But holy canoly, heavenly forces gathered, planets aligned and Sauron himself must have sent a recommendation letter for Belgium to you, because here they were!

After some resistance from Alice (“I don’t want to go stand between throngs of shrieking teens to see celebrities! I’m better than that!” – she’s such a Bella sometimes) we finally decided to brave the rabid Belgian twihards and purchased tickets for the three-movie marathon in Antwerp that Ashley and Xavier and three-thousand Belgian and Dutch twiteens would attend. (It was the spotting of crazies that finally did Alice in.) We were told that Ash and Xavier would arrive at 7pm, but were recommended to come around 4pm to make sure we got good spots and enjoyed the animation beforehand. Here’s how our day went down…

4:00pm: Alice and Bella are happily shopping in downtown Antwerp.

5:30pm: Alice and Bella are still happily shopping in downtown Antwerp…

6:00pm: Alice and Bella have a long debate about whether to just go for a quick dessert at Wagamama where they had lunch, whether to get another dinner (gotta get that protein in there!), or whether to get their lazy post-menstrual asses to the theatre and just survive on an XL bucket of popcorn and chips.

We obviously had the red mullet special

6:30pm: After half an hour of debating what to do – in which they could have easily had the dang dessert (white chocolate cheese cake with raspberry coulis, y’all) – they realize that it’s just an ordinary weekday for all other normal Belgians, and they’ll be stuck in traffic on the way to the theatre and will likely miss the arrival of Ashley and Xavier (and let’s face it, movie snacks are also deliciously good in all their crappiness).

6:35pm: Alice and Bella hit themselves and each other over the head for their stupidity, while rushing through the supermarket to get big bottles of water to avoid forking out a fortune for expensive tiny diet cokes in the theatre to compensate the excessive salt intake in the near future.

6:45pm: Alice and Bella are stuck in traffic.

Of course an Eclipse poster had to whisk by on a bus to remind us of what we were about to miss

6:50pm: Alice and Bella realize they have never been to the theater in Antwerp, and hence don’t exactly know where it is. Bella works up the balls to ask a bald guy in a convertible where the theatre is at the red light. Bald guy flirts with Alice and Bella. Alice and Bella get directions and take off with screeching tires.

Does Belgium throw an Eclipse event to rival the US!? Find out after the jump! Continue…
