#RIPTwilight – Your Stories & an anniversary

Blow one out for LTT

Dear LTTers,

Happy Anniversary! Yes, today is our FOUR YEAR ANNIVERSARY. Four years ago today we decided to start writing Letters to a little Book/Film series called Twilight and my how the days have (not) flown. We’ve been sharing pictures and photos all week from you guys and what the last four years and Twilight has meant to you. I bet you were expecting something grand today, no? Weeeellll you know how on those years your birthday lands in the middle of the week or on a day you have to work, so you decide to celebrate later? Well, we’re going to do that. On Monday we’ll post our letters and stand around a virtual campfire and sings “Friends” while the embers fade.

Until then we’ll let you take it away…

How LTT kept us from becoming the dreaded lame soccer mom.

#RIPtwilight: LTT better than botox

Snowwhitedrifted: Like a good time machine, or a sparkly Vampire, LTT made me younger. It made me 21… forever. Wait. Am I thinking about shopping again? Anyway. Reading LTT and the comments introduced me to many new terms I hadn’t been familiar
with: FanFiction, The Shocker, Vampgasms, VILF, DILF, folkster, angsty mumblish, and my favorite, Jorts. I joined Twitter, I starting blogging with my LTT twin, East Coast Stacey. I discovered music that I fell in love with. How had I not heard of Sia pre Twi? These were all things that my circle of friends, mostly “new moms” just didn’t chat about. You guys filled my, “but I still feel edgy and snarky, where’s my outlet? I don’t want to discuss Pottery Barn Kids!” need. Anyway. So now it’s all coming to a close and I fear I will return to my true age. Will #RIPTwilight mean I have to turn back into a 38 year old? Say it isn’t so. I don’t wanna give up my Dead Weather downloads and Modcloth purchases. I don’t want a mom bob and a Christmas sweater. Please, #thatsNormal, keep me out of Chicos and away from the mini vans.

EC Stacey: Oh LTT/Twilight…you saved me from the crippling new mommy syndrome. Instead of morphing into a pastels and pearl wearing future soccer mom, I felt the power to continue wearing band tee shirts and have my babies not only listen to Bombay Bicycle Club (thanks Eclipse Soundtrack) instead of The Wiggles, but listen to my daughter tell her daddy, “Mommy loves Edward.” I am sure you can imagine that awkward conversation. Through LTT, I met so many wonderful new friends like Team Seth, TJE, RobsFuture Mate, my cosmic twin Snowwhitedrifted…to name only a few.

Not too mention, how cool is to meet one of your now closest friends over at LTT? Snowwhitedrifted and I are so alike it’s scary. We really need to update Talk Supe. Hmm…
SWD: We do, we do. I just started watching Once Upon a Time… that’s supe-y isn’t it? #tangent

EC: Moon and UC…thank you for the laughs, the fun and helping me rediscover my love of writing. I will be forever grateful!

SWD: Yes, Moon and UC, I truly enjoyed this time and helping out with the LTT store. It’s been such a blast to see the snark on garments.

Slovenia Exists

I remember meeting JellyBeanRainbow for the first time & when I asked her to repeat where she said she was from she told me, “Slovenia exists. It’s a real country.” I’ll never forget that. And when I tell people I have a friend in Slovenia & they give me that “What are you talking about” look, I repeat JBR’s words “Slovenia Exists.” I’m so glad it does because it brought us a great friend- one that, despite living across the world, I actually see more often than my college roommates….

Dear LTT/LTR headquarters,

this is my fourth try. It doesn’t matter how I start my letter, it ends as a thanksgiving letter. Because I am so so so thankful for Twilight and you, UC and Moon. I’m so glad I get to meet you in real life and get to know you a little. You are two of the nicest, warmest, smartest people I ever met and even if I think of you as

friends, I’m still a little starstruck in your presence.

It was probably a coincidence that I found this particular blog when researching everything Twilight and everything Rob, but I’m so glad I did. You literally changed my life. Through you I met so many interesting people, in real life and in comments section. Through you I kept being in touch with popular culture, whether it’s JustinBieber or Hunger Games or ComiCon or GingerSnaps. Because of you I opened many social media accounts and entered the modern age. I might have discovered Twilight books and movies by myself, but our not so little community made them so much fun.

And last but not least, I made real life friendships that will last forever ( insert Twilight font here).

Love, JellyBeanRainbow

We got her

Dear LTT,

I found Twilight late in the summer of 2008 after it being practically forced upon me by a friend. Like everyone else here on LTT, I was immediately fell under its spell. Hard. After reading each book in record time, causing my husband to become a bit frightened and a tad bit mad that I was “ignoring” him and the kids, I scoured the interwebs for more information. With the excitement of Twilight coming into movie form and Stephenie updating her site somewhat regularly, I was sated with new information. But after a while it wasn’t enough and I realized many fans were, well, kinda (read: holy freaking) crazy and I only had one RL friend who really “got it”. I wanted to interact with others who were so inexplicably and irrevocably in love with this story, but the commenter’s on many of the sites quite frightened me.

I believe it was the post I read on newmoonmovie.org that you had done with them speculating Kristen’s alleged baby bump in the summer of 2009 that brought me to you (or at least it was this post that had me loyally checking your site on a daily basis thenceforth). There were women who are hilariously funny and aren’t over-crazed (in a non-Normal way) and too serious about their deep love of Twilight were they flip out on one another if you don’t have the same opinion or “Team”? I wanted to hug you!!

By February 2010 while I was going stir crazy being cooped up in my house, recovering from a really bad accident, I finally broke down and commented for the first time coming out of my lurkedom status (it was a big thing to me, I mean, come on, commenting on a Twilight site? The stigma). But everyone here was really welcoming, even when I came on too strong with my excitement of commenting after a month of daily solitude and/or my comments/joke/sarcasm didn’t make sense due to my injuries and I was so glad I had. By April I’d written my first letter to you which, admittedly, I got total fangirly excited when you told me you were going to post it. I’ve since frequented LTT’s comments and done the occasional “guest post” letter. But from the moment I first commented, LTT had become more than just site I liked to check. It became a place where I could forget the horrible stuff I was going through with recovery and just laugh with women (and unicorns) who know what it’s like to have this love of this story, (few of whom have become real online friends and a couple of whom I almost actually met) and remained there for me for the next few years while my struggle continued. Sure, my husband was/is phenomenal and my kids too with all this recovery, but their support was different… with you guys I could escape it all and just laugh and forget about all the crap that was hard to deal with. Twilight and LTT has been my much needed sanity break these past few years

There are many things I could mention that I loved about the site or LTTs infamous terms, posts or jokes. Or how without Twilight, LTT and/or the people who frequent the site I wouldn’t have done/experienced/thought/found/known (fill in the blank)…. but that would take forever and only Edward has that kind of time. 🙂 Just know that even though this is THE END, there will still be times where I’ll smile or laugh to myself with my own little private joke I know no outsider would get; like when I get an iced coffee and notice I have a red straw and a clear cup and take a picture because it makes me laugh…

“Not Clear Rosalie”

when I go to the zoo and find the spider monkey exhibit hilarious…

“Hold on tight Spider Monkey!”

when I keep staring at the hostess at IHOP and it’s not because I want to be fake lesbians with her….

“Why am I covered in feathers?”

or when I giggle at and snap a picture a dog-lovers car bumper magnet…

“I wonder if this means they’re Team Jacob…?”

and I’ll think of you and know that you would smile or laugh too.

Thanks for all the much needed laughter and friendship,

Team Jacob Edward

Happy Anniversary Yall!
Moon & UC

PS Try to get that Friends song out of your head now… HAAHAHA!

#RIPTwilight – Your Stories Day 3

Dear LTT-ers,
Here we go again… I’ve been avoiding these for the last few days… pretty much since the last time I saw Breaking Dawn Pt 2 (without LTT people/UC) made me cry the most. WAAAAAH. Ok, let’s get on with it. Before we jump into your stories I wanted to share one of my own..
.
The LA/OC Twilight fans/chapter of LTT have been some of the best friends I could ask for. Who else can you call up at 10PM and suggest seeing a show of a terrible band or going to a certain bar “JUST BECAUSE” and they totally get it and meet you there and then act like everything is totally normal? Yup, only your Twilight friends. Since UC and I don’t live in the same city we each have our own band of Twi pals who we’ve done unspeakable things with from grinding with the Bananager to posing with Bobby Long in front of a dumpster to creating a sign with a mullet on it and then taking it to the Runaways premiere. Without these people we wouldn’t have a. had much to blog about b. known how to cope with our Twilight tendencies c. lived!

Remember the red ribbons guys?! Yea, our barely concealed identity worked for a few years and guaranteed we could sort of make fools of ourselves and no one would REALLY know. Now, we just make fools of ourselves sans ribbon (we’re too lazy) when we can pull our old asses out of bed at 10PM to go do something Twi-related. We had some amazing and some regrettable times but I won’t forget one. Now, you better still pick up the phone when I call at 10PM LA ladies! You never know what trouble we’ll get ourselves into now.
.
And now a note from your guys…
.

From Proselyte3–

It is with MUCH WOE that I pen my #RIPTwilight letter to LTT/LTR after first finding you in the spring of 2009. You don’t even know, YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW.  And, I’m crying…( stupid, stupid, stupid!!!! )
.

I remember when I found you, I went back and read all the old posts.  I finally began commenting after awhile, and you all were my morning coffee routine every day for a very long time.  And it was during a period of time that I truly needed an outlet.  I had never been obsessed with a book series, an actor, or anything really before.  It was frenetic, exhilarating, oddly motivating and special.  I’m glad now that I couldn’t channel the intensity into something with structure.  Now that it’s all ending, it brings me happiness to know that my passion was left unchecked and wild.  It was the small bit of freedom I needed, even if it was only in my head…and here (and then Twitter…I blame you all for steering me over there.)
.
I could write pages on what the last four years have meant to me.  So much.  Thank you Girls for that, for everything. I mean it, dang it.
.
Much love to my LTT/LTR chicks.  Special shout-out to the original group!  ::gang sign::
.
Thanks Stephenie for putting your story out there.  Dude.  (ARIZONA REPRESENT!  #Tempe)  <—-I’m old, and I can hash tag wherever I want to girls.
.
Alright, I’m just dragging this out now because I don’t want to say goodbye.
.
About three things I am absolutely positive. First, what happened to the last four years of MY LIFE? Second, there is a part of me, and I don’t know how dominant that part might be, that may or may not still love Twilight. And third, I am unconditionally and irrevocably going to miss this. But, hey…

From Bubs —

Hi Moon and UC

Clearly we all hate Ros now

Firstly I have to start by thanking you both for all the effort you’ve put in to make LTT amazing fun.

I didn’t “discover” these incredible books till 2010. Luckily they were all published by then-although I still think Bella should have chosen Jacob.

I remember finding out about LTT through Stephenie Meyer-it might have been when she mentioned that your site came up with “Jorts” or possibly some other time but it prompted me to visit my good friend Google and I found you. It was like coming “home”-everybody related to how addicted I was. Cosi Bella called me her “Twi Twin” [due to our love of Jacob], Sisterpenguin and I bonded over being Aussies [even though she works in London now] etc. etc.

The movies just added to the fun. I was continually blown away by the level of awareness and intelligence in the comments from the girls and occasionally guys, from all around the world. Yep, Twilight and LTT definitely “crossed cultural boundaries”. Boy, will I miss it. I didn’t always have the time to comment but at least I read them. Some day in the not too distant future I hope to be able to pick up a wine or two and go back to day one of LTT and follow it through. That’s on my bucket list.

I wonder if he has to go to the bathroom…

In October I was lucky enough to win a competition that allowed me to attend a Red Carpet Special Fan Event in Sydney for BD2. Rob was the draw card-it was a cold, wet, windy afternoon. I took my husband [who is one very patient and understanding man] and we waited outdoors, along with other fans [wearing rain ponchos] for Rob to arrive. He was 50 minutes late but when he did, the rain ceased and he was very gracious and attentive to all the fans. Following photos n autographs with him, we were entertained in a venue that was decorated to look like a Vampire Disco. Rob came in, sat down and answered questions put to him by a female journalist for about 20 minutes. We were only a couple of feet away from him and it was like we were at a camp fire –sitting, just chilling, drinking mocktails and listening to Rob, nobody screamed or carried on, although he did have us laughing. As it was all happening I kept thinking …how would the girls at LTR be reacting if they were here. I’m attaching some photos taken on the night.

Yeah, the whole Twi world is “special” but Moon and UC you’re both EXTRA SPECIAL. I’m sending you lots of positive energy, from the other side of the world [I’m big on the Law Of Attraction] and hope it helps you in your future endeavours.

To summarize…LTT means “family” to me and I’m very sad to see it finishing :-[ . Although at least I’m on Facebook with you  .

Blessings to all …

Ros [aka Bubs].
.

From Luludee —

I can’t say for sure how much Twilight in and of itself has really changed my life, other than that it led me here. This is the first and only fandom that I have been a part of and it has been a BLAST!

I was out of work when I first started reading LTT and LTR (back in’09) and the daily posts were often the highlight of my day, as were the conversations in the comments. Seeing and hearing about your (UC and Moon) friendship growth and the development of other friendships (EC & WC Stacey-s for example) has been truly awesome and inspirational! Reading LTT is such an ingrained part of my online routine, it’s going to be weird without it and I will truly miss and cherish all the laughter I’ve enjoyed here. Had I remained only a lurker/reader all these years, the laughter alone would warrant a thank you, but it’s been so much more than that. You guys have created a special little community here and I’ve been privileged to be a part of it. Thank each and every one of you for falling in love with a sparkly vampire (or the Trinity) and coming here to share some silliness with the rest of us! See you over at That’s Normal!

Irrevocably Yours,

Luludee

P.S. I have a question for you two: I’ve been unable to figure out the meaning behind your screen names and I’m wondering if you would reveal them to us now that we are at the end….assuming they have anything to do with Twilight at all. 🙂

To answer your great question Luludee — I don’t know if we’ve ever officially written about our pen names or just mentioned them in passing. But have no fear my friends, all will be revealed… this is the end after all!

Moon –
Full Screen name: Themoonisdown
Themoonisdown was a name I’d used before we ever started LTT/LTR and had no other Twilight connection than the word “Moon.” It’s actually the name of one of my favorite albums and songs from once upon a time by a lil band called Further Seems Forever. It is also the name of a novel by John Steinbeck. Not for everyone but enjoy:

The lyrics seem oddly appropriate now.
PS Don’t get me started on how many things I own with Moons on them now!

UC-
Full Screen name: UnintendedChoice
The words “Unintended Choice” are lyrics from a Muse song called “Unintended” and as we all know, the leading lady herself, Stephenie LOVES her some Muse. UC chose this name when we began the blog.

These lyrics also now seem oddly appropriate.

Actually, I’m kinda creeped out by how closely these songs kinda fit our lives and these blogs. So thanks for that Luludee and thanks to Proslyte3 and Bubs for sending in awesome letters! There’s still some time left, if you want to write a little to LTT or Twilight or what this has all meant to you send us an email with the subject “RIPTwilight” and we’ll post as many as we can.

XO,
Themoonisdown

Advice Needed: Should I get a Twilight Tattoo?

Dear LTTers,

This woman is famous.. not in a good way

Well THIS is a first. I thought we had seen everything, heard everything & been asked anything, but apparently not. We got this e-mail the other day from an LTT reader & it’s too good not to share:

To whom it may concern,

This probably is a weird email. But since the last movie was released, I have been considering on getting a Twilight related tattoo. But after seeing that post with the lady with the giant-ass back tattoo (and hint of an ass crack), I know I don’t want to royally screw up on the tattoo lest I want to be made a laughing stock of the Internet.

I am just asking other Twihards what they think of this idea and I want to shoot it to you guys since I love your blog. The Twilight tattoo I was thinking of is just this somewhere on my arm:

Esme waited ten years.
So can you.

Those seven words hold a lot of personal meaning for me, but since this is a Twilight tattoo we’re talking about I just need to see what my fellow Twihards think before I permanently ink it. So far I’ve been writing this phrase on my arm and no questions or alarms have been raised but anything can happen after getting said tattoo.

So what do you guys think?

Your fan,
Jael

Don’t Do this

My first thought was— how BIG will this be? What FONT will it be in? Will Edward’s face be ANYWHERE near it? Because big tattoos in ugly fonts having ANYTHING to do with Edward Cullen or Rob Pattinson are a no-no. So I asked her. And she sent me more info:

I know I want this tattoo to be small.  (I am going into teaching so this tattoo has to be in a place I can easily cover up with a jacket sleeve or a large cuff bracelet.)  I chose my arm because I have been writing this phrase on my arm with a pen for the last year and I want it to be where I can look down and see it.
I had a friend suggest I put the words in French so it would look fancier and cut down on the chances of me being harassed for getting a Twilight tattoo.  (I am also considering Italiano as the language since the language has some significance in the books. )
As for what the quote means, it’s something I wrote.  Esme is my favourite character in the Twilight Saga (yes, I cried when THAT scene happened because I didn’t know it was a vision).  I’ve also had a really difficult love life and I’ve panicked over the fear of being alone forever without never finding my soul mate.  Starting last year, I started writing “Esme waited ten years.  So can you.” on my arm as a way to remind myself that I will find love one day.  It just takes a long time.
So what do you think? Can a Twilight tattoo be non-2nd-hand-embarrassing? Should Jael go through with it? Let her know in the comments!
Love,
UC

Introducing the New Holy Trinity! Breaking Dawn Pt. 2 Premiere

Dear Old Holy Trinity-

Move over Taylor and Kristen, there’s a new trinity in town… aka these are the videos UC chose to edit first.

Rob, Mike Welch (ROOOBBB!!) and Melissa Rosenberg. Yup, UC must have a thing for Mike Welch and Melly Rosenberg because she totally overlooked people like Jackson Rathbone and Kellan Lutz for… MIKE.WELCH. Yea, I don’t know either y’all but considering last year’s Mike Welch moment I’m surprised he even gave us a second chance much less played along with our dumb game. Whatta sport that guy!

Mike Welch. Yea, we totally asked him to act the fool and he was more than willing. And yes, this Arizona girl is likin’ da rain.

And then Melissa Rosenberg became just like our favorite step-aunt in this video.
.

And well there’s really no need for introduction to this ROBERT PATTINSON video because there are no words necessary because as you all know, this has never happened before. Special hugs to Matt and Ryan for hooking us up. WAAAAY up.

We’re sorry Taylor and Kristen but I’m sure you understand… you never would have delivered famous Twilight movie lines in Mike Welch’s voice or introduced us to your husband or told us you had to pee. So as you can see it had to be done. You’ll understand someday, when you’re older.

Who else has moved up on our list of favorites? Who will be the new Big Daddy (we miss you!)? Who will be the next Buttcrack Santa? Only time and Goldfish Cracker-fueled midnight editing sessions will tell.

Moon and UC

Breaking Dawn Pt 2 Premiere: Stephenie Meyer, Jeremy Renner and that Jumping Rob

One last time!

Dear LTT-ers,

As you know we were back on the red carpet for Breaking Dawn Pt 2 on Monday and if you were following us at all you know A LOT went down. And we don’t just mean a certain jumping gentleman. We’ve been working all day to get the footage edited and shined up and presentable (on approx. 4 hrs of sleep) but you have a TOOOON to look forward to in the next few days —

– We didn’t yell “ROB” in Mike Welch’s face this year! Instead we made him play a game with us that involves semi-embarassing voices
– Kellan kissed our site buddy from Twilightish over a package of cookies! Imagine what he’d do for some black market German protein powder
– Taylor has ideas for a Twilight related tattoo
– Tons of randoms answered questions you totally don’t want to hear! (Spoiler: male actors in Twilight are obsessed with women)
Everyone wants to be Jasper!
– Our “little bottles” got cock blocked on the red carpet
– Erik Odom said the word “carbon-fiber” with a straight face when describing his suit

And tons more!

But really what better place to start than with the first lady herself, Stephenie Meyer. Guys, who knew she was a super fangirl for Jeremy Renner? Seriously, all she wanted to do was talk about him. Not what we can blame her, we’ve seen The Town, The Avengers and like Stephenie, The Bourne Legacy. The dude is hot. Perhaps she needs to start Letters to Jeremy?

Uuuuhhh if you’re serious Stephenie you know our email address… send us your letter girl, we may know some people who knows some people who can pass it along to some people who might be able to get it posted on here. Just know we will all know expect at least one Jeremy Renner mention.

Bonus points to Stephenie for being the first person to notice Jumping Rob (more on that at That’s Normal) all night! We may never know what tweets of ours you were loving but it was worth it to hear you call him Jumping Edward.

Stay tuned we have heaps more to show you… and we will, just as quickly as our computers can render the footage.

Jump!
Moon and UC

PS You know what’s normal? Taking Jumping Rob to the Premiere with us! Check out the full video, Rob’s reaction and more at That’s Normal!
