Our Runner Up Virgin!!! Is in love with a movie character

Dear LTT-ers and Twilight sluts (one and the same?),

Remember our fun Virgin contest where we asked you all to send us your hilarious and embarrassing stories about your first time with Twilight? Well we loved so many that after we named Heidi the winner we knew  had to have a runner up because we loved Carrie’s email to her friend so much. We’ll let her take it away…

Oh heyyyyyy LTT-

So I found the below email that I sent to my bestie, a few nights after I saw Twilight for the first time. I re-read it and it made me lol. Also made me kinda melancholy, reminiscing about my times as a a Twirgin. Oh, so young and innocent…
FYI, I’m still only a heartbeat away from getting Edward Cullen’s name tattooed on my ass…

Yeah still want to head to beach. Is going to be good beach weather Sunday. No other real plans yet, except for laundry, and reading my new book which I am officially OBSESSED with, and thinking about the movie and generally living in my new fantasy world, which I prefer so much better to reality…

You know how i told you I wanted to go see Twilight (the movie) cos I’d had this insane really intense dream about it and I couldn’t stop thinking about the dream?

Well the other night I was bored so I was going through Brent’s dvds and found a dodgy copy of Twilight that he brought back from Fiji with him.

So I watched it.

And I loved it. No, actually love isn’t the right word. I adored it. It was the single most amazing thing I have ever seen – and so much like the dream I had bout it – except better. After I finished watching it I was on this adrenaline high. It was bizarre. I couldn’t sleep or do anything but think about this movie.

Then all yesterday all I could do was look on the internet to find out everything about the movie and the book.
But it wasn’t enough, so last night I went to Village to see the movie ont he big screen and it was just awe inspiring. Incredible. So as soon as the movie finished I went to Borders and bought the book… and the soundtrack… and was up until 4 this morning reading the book.

What's better than this guy??!!

I am officially obsessed with a fictional character from a movie. But it’s not just me – there is this whole cult out there of people – guys and girls – who are obsessed to the point of psychosis with the books and the movie.

I’m a little concerned as it’s pretty much taken over my life.

But the good thing is that it has pretty much turned me off all men (particularly certain fat ones who work at Collins Simms) for the rest of my life. Because no one could ever be as amazing as Edward Cullen. *sigh*. I love him. I am in love with a movie character. I am a heartbeat away from getting his name tattooed on my arse.

Feel free to commit me to the mental ward now, cos I think I’m only going to get more obsessed from here…

Carrie
.
THANKS Carrie! After reading the entire last few paragraphs and laughing so hard remembering thinking the same things. What man will ever measure up to Edward? There are really more people obsessed with this out there like I am? Yea, this isn’t going to end well. We’ve all been there and still are

We have a Twilight Virgin Winner!!

(get a cup of coffee or a diet coke and settle in for this one!)

Dear LTT readers and once upon a time twi virgins,

We have a winner! And well a runner up winner!!! It was SO difficult for us to choose from all the wonderful stories, emails, aim convos and ESSAYS you all sent in. But in the end it came down to Heidi’s story about her Twilight reading husband deflowering an old lady assistant to the judge at his work in the US DISTRICT COURT! Ok, that sounds wrong… we’ll just let our virgin winner Heidi share her story… Take it away Heidi!
.

A LITTLE BACKGROUND:

By this time, I had already read the series (multiple times) and loved it.  The following emails pertain to my HUSBAND losing his Twilight virginity while simultaneously taking someone else’s.  He was working as a clerk for a judge in a U.S. District Court.  He was so obsessed with the books at the time that he was shamelessly carrying them around the judge’s chambers so that he could read them during breaks.  One day, the book caught the eye of the 50+ year old judge’s assistant (who up until this point hated my husband).  So, doing what any good Twilight fan would do, he lent her the books.  The assistant loved the first book and fueled by her obsession pumped my husband for more Twilight info.  He was grateful that this woman, who previously seemed to hate him, now loved him and pumped me for more Twilight info to give her.

Hi Honey,

You asked for more Twilight stuff for ___Old Lady Assistant___, here it is.  This is the list of my favorite Twilight or Rob-themed blogs that I sent to Jessica when I got her obsessed.  You need to forward these to ___Old Lady Assistant___so that she knows she is far from alone in her Twilight and robsession.  All women of every age love him!  You know you have a boy-crush on him too.  Admit it!

Love You!

THE NEXT MORNING:

My husband walks into the judge’s chambers and is accosted by the judge’s assistant.  She makes him change her computer desktop (remember she is over 50, which makes it less surprising, but not less embarrassing, that she could not do this herself) to the above image of GQ Rob.  My husband obliges and then she spends the rest of the day giggling and showing it off to others.  My husband is now her enabler (everybody needs one) and best friend and the worst enemy of the other men in the chambers.

well, i did it again!!! hardly slept last night (started reading the third book installment (eclipse) around 3:00pm yesterday at our cabin, then went home and continued reading it until 4:10am this morning!!!!  talk about sleep-deprived!!!!

i enjoyed the book, much more than the second one (new moon).  i still don’t like jacob, however.  can’t wait to start the 4th one tonight.

by the way, i saw the movie over the weekend.  embarrassingly enough, i saw it three times — my niece and my daughter now think i should be committed and/or in a straightjacket — what can i say?  still love edward and bella together; i’m also starting to love alice and the rest of the clan, but don’t like the wolves, especially you know who!!!

thanks again for getting me hooked on twilight.  i’ll let you know how i feel about the fourth book.

again, it was good having you in chambers (not because you got me hooked in twilight, mind you); hope you keep in touch and stop by whenever you are in the neighborhood.  regards.

Old Lady Assistant
Judicial Assistant to the Honorable no name judge
U.S. District Court

(Heidi Note: Haha, does this count as my husband “sleeping his way to the top?”)
.

THE OUTCOMES:
I ended up inviting this judge’s assistant to my New Moon Movie Release Party where she won the Twilight Trivia game (and those questions I wrote were HARD) and also won the Jane “Pain” Staring Contest.  She was a riot.  My husband ended up getting a glowing recommendation letter from the judge this woman works for and we can’t help but think it has something to do with him taking her Twilight virginity.
.

Tschus,
Heidi

So readers as you can see Heidi and her DOUBLE virgin story of hilarity with her newbie Husband and newbie Old Lady Judge’s Assistant just had to win cause we loved it so much! Give Heidi a big congrats on her LTT/LTR TShirt of her choice and stay tuned for the runner up’s story!

Once upon a time when I was a Twilight virgin…

Dear Twilight,

I cannot believe I’m about to partake in this “Twilight Week” Moon was so excited about (Read her letter from Monday if you have no idea what I’m talking about). Sure HER post was pretty 2nd-hand embarrassing, but it’s NOTHING like mine. Ugh.. the things I do for you…. Confess that I was once an innocent Twi-virgin…with great love for a sub-par movie…who referred to Rob as “Cedric” before saying his real name. Love me through this PLEASE:

Tuesday, November 18, 2008

I just re-read the book again.  And I.CANNOT.WAIT for the movie.  I bought my ticket already and plan on being there super early to get seats. I will be attending with other vampire-fiends like myself.

I would like a vampire-lover. It could be Bill or Edward, however, I’d prefer Edward. Although a shape-shifter like Sam would be fine too. I take that back. I do not like dogs. However… I do wish I was Bella….. lucky duck

[Ahem: Yes, I linked to a bunch of pictures of other vampires & shape shifters. And a duck]

My Perfect Bella

No one will care about this post except for [insert Moon’s real name], but that’s just how much I love you, [Moon]!

I saw Twilight twice so far 🙂 (emphasis on the “so far” because I WILL see it again) I had quite realistic expectations for the movie- I love the book(s) SO MUCH that it wasn’t possible for the movie to be as good.  I wasn’t sure if I liked Cedric Diggory (aka Robert Pattison) as Edward, but I did think Kristen Stewart looked perfect for Bella.  First glance it looks like the Cullen family’s casting was spot-on!

I saw the movie at the sold out 7:15 show Friday night with some wonderful friends and 1,000 screaming tweens and teens.  I almost kicked a 9 year old’s ass b/c her shirt said “Team Jacob,” but then she explained that “it was the only shirt Hot Topic had left.” (She was only really 9) I screamed at the Harry Potter preview along with the rest of the crowd. (And held my eyes and ears shut for the Unborn preview- what the H!?)

The movie COMPLETELY met my expectations.  It stayed so close to the book and the things they changed were mostly positive (aka, bringing in the bad vamps early on- liked that). It went SO fast.  Scenes that took 1 month and 250 pages in the book happened in 5 minutes- I definitely could have used more Edward/Bella love time (and I LOVED the kissing scene). I was disappointed that the only time he kisses her neck or spends much time in that region was at the Prom scene- the imagery in the book of his obsession with smelling her blood from there is SO AMAZING and they really glossed over it in the movie. Overall- I loved it.  I also could have used less laughing from awkward teens and swooning every time Edward came on screen (Okay.. I swooned too) LOVED the music!

So, I’m this lucky duck who has a husband who knows how his wife obsesses over things.  So, he “invited” me to join him to see Twilight again last night.  I was excited- it was a sleepy, cold, rainy Monday night and I figured all the tweens were in bed.  THEY WERE.  The theater held only 6 guests plus us! This time, I was the only one who cheered for Harry Potter or swooned when Edward appeared!

"Brilliant Scene" according to Mr. Choice

I warned [Mr. Choice] that as a piece of art, the film would probably disappoint.  It’s so hard for me to guess what “outsiders” would think since I’m such an insider.  I’ve told him a lot about the story (again, I obsess) and I was convinced he would hate Bella and Edward.  He was hard to read throughout the movie (I felt like Edward trying to read Bella), except when Muse came on.  Then he sang along.

I absolutely loved my 2nd experience.  It was SO different seeing it with “adults.” While I think I came away from my first time thinking it was a movie made for teens, I didn’t think that the second time.  There were things I noticed that I didn’t the first time around- and I felt that the connection between Edward and Bella was much stronger.  I was really sensitive about what [Mr. Choice] thought since I loved it so much and he’s such a film buff.  His thoughts COMPLETELY shocked me!

I’m forcing him to blog what he told me last night about the movie. FORCING him.  He LOVED it. He’s familiar with Catherine Hardwicke, the director, and thought it was her best film. He loved the cinematography, the actors, the chemistry between Bella and Edward.  And he thought the baseball scene was brilliant (it was- I tried the “Alice leg” last night- and failed miserably) He started played Muse the minute we got home! He said that this movie will get overlooked because of the demographic- but it shouldn’t.  He said no one would take it seriously, but it should be.  He thought it was as perfectly done as it could have been.  Even some of the things about the screenplay that I didn’t like, he thought were perfect.  He said he was just WAITING for it get cheesy- and it never did.  He even liked Stephanie Meyer’s cheesiest line “So the Lion fell in love with the Lamb…” So yes, my art-loving, film-buff (UFC fighting) husband liked Twilight.  I am so glad!

I’m re-reading the books (of course) and just finished Eclipse.  I forgot. O.M.G. It was so good! I can’t wait to finish Breaking Dawn! I’ll give you this, Team Jacob: While I hate every minute of what you LOVE in Eclipse, I do think their relationship is endearing. I love the scene in the tent when Jacob keeps Bella warm- but mostly because Edward says to him”But, if I had been able to take your place last night, it would not have made the top ten of the best nights of my life. Dream about that” HA! Suck on that Team Jacob.

Moon’s Comment (she was 2 out of the 3 comments. SAD!):

themoonisdown said…HAHAHA suck on that team jacob!! finished eclipse last night and LOVED it… might be the best so far… i was about to crawl out of my skin waiting for the ‘tent scene’ you were talking about. it did NOT disappoint!  aaaannndd just got back from my 2nd viewing of twilight and i have to TOTALLY agree everything was better i loved it! i was over projecting what i wanted it to be and just enjoyed it for what it was. i gotta hit the 2nd review on my blog. oh man wish we could go see it a 3rd time together. daang when can we seen new moon??? 😀

[I LOVE that we reviewed & commented as if others outside of US were going to be reading these reviews.]

With tons of embarrassing love,
UnintendedChoice

WHY did I say “Lucky Duck” so much!? And I CANNOT WAIT to remind Mr. Choice how he actually LIKED Twilight in the beginning- HAHA! And I don’t remember a time when I referred to Catherine as anything other than “Cathy Hardi- frequenter of TGIFriday’s Happy Hours!” UGH… can you still “respect” me as a NORMAL Twilight fan? Or did I just get thrown in as “delusional crazy” in your book? TELL ME I’M NOT ALONE in how I was as a virgin!!!

We’re running a Contest!!

Contest Rules: Comment/email us a link or copy of your first time. A chat convo with a friend, a review on a blog, a funny comment at a Twi site. UC and I will pick our faves and someone will win a tshirt from the LTT/LTR store to be announced this weekend.

Oh & stay tuned for a special THURSDAY letter tomorrow!

My first time with Twilight and a contest for Virgins!

Dear LTT-ers,

A few days ago UC sent me an email with link to her review of Twilight on her personal blog from late 2008 with the comment “let’s never speak of this again.” Well friends, after going back and rereading both her review and mine from November 2008 I just knew we HAD to speak of this again. In fact we’ve concocted a little thing called Virgin Week to reminisce about the absurdity of our first Twilight times. It’s fun and slightly embarassing to read how wide eyed and innocent we were before we became Twilight sluts who had been around the block more times than we care to let on now. Since it’s always fun to take a trip down memory lane, let’s pretend this is the blogging equivalent of pulling out your old high school yearbooks with your friends and laughing really hard at your hairdid and admitting you really were a member of the marching band (guilty).

So let’s start this week of virgins with the post I made a few days before seeing Twilight for the first time… (and if you make it to the end… a contest!)

Title: One Week Ago…

Alright so exactly one week ago i asked my pal katelin, what’s all the fuss about this ‘twilight’ thing? Being the kind soul she is, she brings in her copy of twilight for me to borrow. that night i sat down and plowed through 200 pages. and so as they say the rest is history… i’m in the middle of ‘new moon’ and loving it. yes, i like twilight. and the authors from arizona! come on!

it’s also happens that today the movie version of twilight is in theaters. no, im not one of those crazed ‘bite me’ girls who has midnight showing tickets… i mean after all this has only been a week! i was planning on seeing it when i went home over thanksgiving next week but now im not so sure… i may cave this weekend.

and with pics like this you can understand my dilemma…

yes, rob pattinson. SIGH. british AND has great hair. was there ever a better combination? i think not.

Comment:

Katelin: just think how different your life would have been if i had never given you that book, haha.

Yes… think just how different my life would be now if I’d never read that book courtesy of Katelin… CRAZY!

And now let’s ready my first ever review after seeing Twilight for the first time…………

November 24, 2008
Title: I Caved…
i saw twilight this weekend. you’d think we were at a beatles concert circa the 60s the way these girls screamed. no joke anytime an important character came on the screen, or heck, when the TITLE of the movie came on, these people squealed like banshees.

at this point i’m mixed on my review of it. on one hand i was so excited to see it in movie form and on the other i feel like there was a lot they could have done and left out. ive talked with a few others who were book fans who saw it and it was kinda the same reaction… a bit of a mixed bag. at times i felt it was rushed and lacked some important character development but it was over 2 hours i dont know how else they could have changed it. the good thing is i heard from guys and people who didnt read the books, that it was better than expected and enjoyable.

Original Caption: "Uh oh"

also summit (the studio) has already green lighted ‘new moon’ the equally awesome sequel to ‘twlight.’ hopefully theyll dump a bit more money into the cgi/fx this time cause it left A LOT to be desired, i.e. edward did NOT dazzle/sparkle/or look anything remotely close to diamonds in the sunlight.

after katelin and i mulled it over this morning i think i will see it again. there was just too much hype leading up to it for this to be my actual judgment and i need to see it without a 15yr old girl screaming in my ear everytime edward or jacob happens to be on screen.

the good notes… LOVED all the actors. Thought they were cast brilliantly and I loved the soundtrack, worked the music in so well. listening to some of the songs now and i still feel anxious as if i was watching the scene it corresponds to.

i’ll revisit this next week after i see it again… 😀

book update… i’m halfway through ‘eclipse’… loving it, there are SO many ways this one can go but she always surprises me. we’ll see.

great song choice for the movie…

Comments (in which UC says “kick ass”)

UC: girl, i didn’t read your review before i posted mine. we think so much alike.

go see it again. you’ll love it. promise. thanks for all the kick-ass vids.

i haven’t stopped listening to the soundtrack. we should’ve been teenagers together, sigh. you are basically bella, though.. being from AZ and all..

can’t wait until you’re in music supervision either. all movies will suddenly have the best soundtracks
xo

Moon: wait, we aren’t 16?? come on.

i totally get a little kick out of bella being from phx and the author still living there. i’m kinda pumped about going home for tgiving on the one -in-a-million chance i see stephenie meyer! hahaha.

So friends as you can see being a virgin is hilarious and 2nd hand embarrassing all these years later. Which is exactly why I thought we should share these (UC will post hers on Wednesday). But the best part about all this? We want to have a contest!!! Because we shared our first times with you, we want to hear YOURS!! Did you blog your first Twilight experience? Did you send your friend an email about it? Did you sigh over Rob being a Brit with great hair? We want to see it! Comment a link or send an email of your first time and we’ll chose our favorite one and give you a tshirt from the LTT/LTR store! Win win for everyone!

Get to outting yourself!
Themoonisdown

Do we love the random quotes around the titles, my wish to meet Stephenie Meyer on a random trip home to AZ? Hilar. It’s really a tragedy that UC and I have forever lost our very first Twilight convo… so spill yours!

Contest Rules: Comment/email us a link or copy of your first time. A chat convo with a friend, a review on a blog, a funny comment at a Twi site. UC and I will pick our faves and someone will win a tshirt from the LTT/LTR store to be announced this weekend.

Shocker! It’s a Saturday Post: Red Riding Hood Contest

Dear Catherine Hardwicke,

We’re hard on you sometimes- what with all your constant talk of Robsten & crazzzzzyyyyyy hair & outfits, but I gotta admit. I kinda want to see “Red Riding Hood.”

But that’s not even the shocker, Mr. Choice, my darling indie-film loving, Twilight-hating (yet Catherine respecting) husband asked me last night if the movie was out yet, because even HE wants to see it. Um, what is happening!?

Anyway, we get notifications about contests & such ALL the time and generally ignore them because they are lame. But this one is pretty awesome. This website I JUST learned about, Plum Willow, where you create outfits based on stuff you find on the site, is doing a simple contest where you create an outfit around the red cape from the movie & win a pretty decent prize pack from the film. It’s PERFECT if you, like me, are intrigued by this movie (Is it because the guy looks really hot??) or if you don’t care, pass it on to someone else. I know you know someone who is interested. It’s The Little Red Riding Hood. And WOLVES (NOT Bears) plus a HOT GUY.

Check out the Contest!

Happy Weekending!

Love,
UC & Moon

PS: Mr. Choice just walked in & asked what I was doing. I confessed I mentioned him in today’s letter. He clarified why he “wanted” to see the movie. He said he just likes to go to movies & he knows that’s something we could both agree on. Since obviously I’d want to see it since it has something sort-of to do with Twilight. I also think he has a secret crush on Amanda Seyfried. Or maybe the Wolf. He is Team Jacob!
