Take out your party hats, it’s LTT’s 3rd Anniversary!

There are no videos in the post, so you can just mute your computer today! HOORAY!

Dear Unintendedchoice, Themoonisdown and LTTers,

Never trust a girl with crazy eyes, nor let her blog

I know what you must be thinking: who let Brookelockart get control of the blog? After deciding that I wanted to throw a surprise blog party, I spent the last two weeks cracking passwords (hint: has to do with Robsten, magicness and Bella’s birthday). So folks, spike your coffee and raise a glass to three fabulous years of laughter, tears and images that will never leave you (two words: Snail Penis).

As part of the anniversary surprise, I reached out to regulars and some old time friends who jumped at the chance to reminisce about our favorite LTT posts (I may have also promised some punch and pie.)

Please introduce yourselves and when did you start reading LTT/LTR?

Read_or_sleep: Summer 2009
Cazza: March 2009
PlaneFriend: Reading Since: About 5 seconds after this post. When I saw Stephenie was going to have fansites interview her, I decided to go looking at the fansites. All the others I just glanced at, read a page or two, and never went back to again. Within days, I was reading most of the LTT backlogs…realized I knew UC a few weeks later, started writing for y’all occasionally, and the rest in history.
Stacey: March 2010
LonestarKendall: March 2009
Rachel B, formerly GriffsSayWhat: Winter 2009
Alice_NaA  – Bella_NaA : A  long long time ago, when palatial pads and hot pocket fortresses where yet to be built, Summit was not to blame, TomStu still shaved, Bobbygee shared his wisdom, AmanDUH  was working her living room corners, the Pattinson pants were in style, and Oregano was not just an Italian herb.
superhumanmoron: January 2009
MrsKowski: I’ve been reading since March of 2009. The post that started it all for me was the “This is how you found us? Vol. 2”  it was linked on NewMoonMovie.org – my world has not been the same since I made the decision to click on that link.
Snowwhitedrifted: January 2010
Janetrigs: February 2009
Allryans: April 2009, actually since THIS post.
Operarose: August 2009
TeamSeth: September 16, 2009

Well, I guess this is what happens with an open ended question. For the record, I’ve been reading since March 2009.

We know that LTT gave laugh lines to Stephenie Meyer, what posts made you screen spray your drink while reading?

worse when it comes out your nose

PlaneFriend: I laughed so hard while reading this post that I flatout cried, no joke. I mean, Barbies in lingerie? Blacking out a Barbie’s girl parts? Flipping hilarious.
Stacey: This is an old one, but one of the first that I read that made me laugh so hard that it woke up the baby I was nursing at 2 A.M and made him start crying. So while that won’t help me win mother of the year, that post did bring some fun at actually being awake at 2 A.M.
Rachel B: I really loved seeing all the funny stuff people thought up for this contest, even though I was not creative enough to think of anything!  And, at the time the “imma let you finish” was ALL the rage!!
Bella_NaA: Oooh, the Imma-contest. Endless fun we had with that one. There were some really, REALLY good entries, including the one that Gil Birmingham ended up tweeting about!
Mrskowski: I think a memorable screen spray post was the “Ok …we gotta discuss it …it’s time” post – can you believe I’d never seen Last Tango in Paris before this post? …I could have probably answered this same question with any LTT Mailbag post or any My Twilight Confessions post as well – I die at all of them.
SWD: Breaking dawn Barbies
Janetrigs: The epic Calliope (@CalliopeBlabs) , UC and Moon Break Down of the New Moon trailer and we learned that Tweed is indeed Serious.
Operarose: Any of the posts with responses to letters LTT received from Twi fans who thought to the cast or Stephenie. I love the equal parts biting sarcasm, snark and sometimes sweetness involved in UC & Moon’s responses to the rather confused fans. Example

Cry Baby

Those certainly bring back lots of memories, also some inappropriate laughing at work. On the flip side, which post made you cry more than Eric Yorkie in New Moon?

Read_or_sleep: I have nothing coming up from memory.  Obviously I am a cruel, heartless person.
PlaneFriend: This post because I want to read a Leah sequel THAT badly. Truly, I have a ridiculous affinity for Leah. I want to get inside her head. I want to see her puke over the pedophile Jake-Nessie imprinting. I want her to fall for someone other than Sam!
Lonestarkendall: Just another example of how Twi brought us LTT/LTRs together across the country, supporting one another and making us laugh.
Alice_NaA: Don’t remember the exact post, but at the time of our twidiction high, every post reminding us that the twilight-period will come to an end, made us sad.
Bella_NaA: And now, every post that reminds us how LTT has become so much more than a funny blog about Twilight but also a place where we have made new friends!
SHM: I can’t think of one in particular.  Usually the ones that talk about all the friendships made through LTT.  And we all sing “Friends are Friends Forever”.
MrsKowski: it’s a toss up between “Twilight Moments that have shaped us” and about Leghitch2010
SWD: Well, this one was emotional for me, because I did the shirts. It’s AWESOME to see them on you all!!
Janetrigs: Freya describes how we all feel, in that LTR/LTT has brought us all together as friends.
Operarose: MidnightCyn’s story. Probably one of the most unforgettable stories I’ve ever read, anywhere, period. I was so inspired that Twilight helped distract her from a difficult time in her life.
TeamSeth: Same post as above.  This is one of the first posts I read, and I thought every Thursday was a tear jerker (due to post title). Luckily that wasn’t the case, but this will always be the most teardrops are fallin’ down my cheek post and same goes for its comments. But what makes it even more tear-jerker to look back on is that Cyndi DID go see New Moon, even though she didn’t think it was a possibility.

An LTT update

Dear LTT,

As I was pondering what to write today: Do I complain about the Bruno Mars song I HATE (Moon was Way too nice) or write a list of “48 things to do in the next 48 days before Breaking Dawn’s release?” I got side-tracked & starting thinking about HOW MUCH life has changed in the almost Three (YES THREE) years we’ve been blogging about Twilight. Then I thought “UC, that’s not interesting. No one wants to hear you talk about how different your life is these days.” But then I played devil’s advocate with myself because… well, is that true? LTT isn’t like every other Twilight blog out there. We don’t post about news & facts and call it a day. We give our opinions (sometimes very strong ones) and infuse our “letters” with our personalities. And whether you guys realize it or not, you’ve kinda gotten to know us over the years. I mean… I think we’re friends… right? Internet friends who would never confess in public how we know each other, but friends still! I love reading your emails (yes, even if it takes me weeks and months to respond) and enjoy learning bits & pieces about you as we converse. And so.. maybe you DO actually care about where our lives have taken us…. Maybe. And if you don’t.. well, come back Monday. We’ll complain about something from Twilight again!

Year One: The year of FIRSTS

I was thinking about how that first year (2008-2009) of Twilight was so obsessive. It was the year of “firsts.” First Breaking it Down Vanity Fair Style, first trips to the premiere, first seeing Rob in person, first videos made together with Moon & UC in the same room. It was always exciting & always fresh & always new.. If you were around back then, you might remember reading what our first year meant to both Moon & Myself. And get your tissues out to re-watch the video Moon made for our 1st anniversary:

Who ARE all you people?

Year Two: It got BIG!

And then Year 2 came. And it was insane. Everything went to the next level. The laughs were bigger, the blog fights were more passionate, the excitement was HUGE- and if I remember correctly we had like 50 or 60 people (most of whom were internet turned REAL-LIFE friends) at the Eclipse Midnight showing. Friendships that started online turned into this real, deep meaningful relationships, many of which I’m sure I’ll have for the rest of my life (aw!) and… oh yeah, I almost forgot: We met Stephenie Meyer. A moment neither one of us will EVER forget. Year two was…. exhausting…

Year Three: Toning it down

COME ON! This is funny!!

And so this year for us has been a bit different. Not only has the fandom really split which is hard to navigate sometimes (can’t people JOKE anymore!) but the actors aren’t acting (together anyway) and there is SUCH a long break between Eclipse and Breaking Dawn 1! Moon & I have kinda just adopted the attitude of “We’ll blog when we want to.” Which means we sometimes blog less…. But our excitement grows EVERY DAY knowing that Breaking Dawn is so close we can almost taste it. It’s like we’re vampires.. and there are humans nearby.. or something.

But the changes for the actors & the series & the fandom in Year 3 has kinda fit with where Moon & I are personally….. we’re… busy. A lot busier than we used to be.

The one where I use my blog as an excuse to make a list about my life so I don’t forget something important

I’ve been trying to figure out what I want to do with my life for about…. 28 years, so I’ve recently recently taken on the role as the social media strategist for a marketing & branding agency on top of my full-time job. Yes- my “experience” (among other things) is “I run a successful Twilight Blog. Hire me.” Funny, isn’t it? So: for example it’s 11:35 pm on Thursday evening right now: I got to work at 9 am this morning, left at 6:30, came home, starting working for a client at 8:30 and finished at 11:05. I’ll be blind by the age of 37 from staring at a computer screen, but (maybe) I’ll be happy having helped someone learn how to “tweet.”

The one where Mr. Choice's picture is on LTT for the first time ever

Mr. Choice & I made the “Big move” into Philadelphia early last summer & we love the city. And there’s always something to do. Sometimes I drink on Tuesday nights. I know. So rebellious. Speaking of Mr. Choice.. he started pursuing his music career full time about a year ago (he’s a film music & digital media composer. And he’s good. I’d say that even if I wasn’t sleeping with him)

Plus I started running. Which is HUGE because I’m a pretty unhealthy person. I feel amazing. And energized. Which is good since I don’t really have time to sleep. And I love cats. So… basically….I am a cat lover & I love to run.

I miss Moon

And Moon? What about Moon you ask? Well, I’m going to bug her to give you an update. Because HER life changes every day. and you know what’s sad? We don’t even have time to TALK every day anymore! We literally went YEARS talking at least once, and usually more, every day. To go a day or a WEEKEND without talking now is…. common.

And as much as I miss the daily contact (counting down the days till I sleep next to her again in November!), it’s kinda nice…. because… well, we’re happy. And for so long.. we both weren’t.. And talking and blogging & getting to know all of you was what MADE us happy. But now we’re happy, even outside of that.. and it’s a beautiful thing.

So I like Year 3. Year 3 is a happy year. What will Year 4 bring? Maybe I’ll figure out what I want to do with my life, get another cat, run a 1/2 marathon, hug Big Daddy & find world peace.

Fingers crossed!

Love,
UnintendedChoice

Things I miss about Twilight

Dear Twilight,

I’ve had some time to do some thinking on my mini-break while Moon is in Europe & a few things have come to mind: I miss you. I miss when you were EVERYWHERE. Sure you’re still around. And this Fall you’ll be crazy again with Breaking Dawn Part 1, but I miss when everyday things made me think of you & made me laugh in the oddest ways.

I had a great opportunity to meet 2 girls I met through LTT who are from BELGIUM (remember Alice & Bella from Not an Addikt?) this past weekend in New York. I’ll share more about that later, but being with them reminded me of a few things I miss. So without further ado:

Cathy Hardi & her love for the Ultimate “Cougarita” at TGIFridays. Why TGIFridays? Why a big, watered-down margarita? Who knows! But it fits, you know it does:

Click me for ultimate LOLs

Big Daddy and his love for Fish-o-Filet sandwiches (and our inability to call that sammy by the correct name), The Olive Garden & any sort of fried delight:

Buttcrack Santa and all the places he’d pop up. Plus it gave us many excuses to post disgusting pictures of drunk, naked Santa Clauses:

I miss you

Wolfgirl. You early readers will remember when Moon & I started a campaign to marry Taylor Lautner & my youngest sister:

Meeting Stephenie Meyer cause that was just awesome. And this June is really hard without excitement like last year!

I also miss that hairclip. I lost it.

Moon cause she does stuff like this, among other things:

I could go on and on!!! I’ll save more for another time.  What do you miss!?

Love,
UnintendedChoice

Edward Cullen sightings in Missouri

Dear Twilight,

Earlier in the year we heard from Jessica about a phenomenon occurring in Blue Springs, Missouri:

While shopping at my local grocery store this weekend I noticed a display of my newest sweet tooth craving…. Twizzlers. As I walked around the rather large display to the front of it, I noticed something, NAY, some one shares the same affinity as myself for the awesome red candy!

It is important to add that this is a full size cutout standing in the middle of all these boxes, and somehow I doubt that Twizzlers would be the product of choice were he to have a say in the matter…

It’s not the only appearance he has made. The other week he was selling Sun Drop soda! I sign next to him says “A drop of sun will make you sparkle like me.”

We want to sell you Kale

And a few weeks later Jessica wrote again:

Our Edward has made another appearance. This time he isn’t selling anything, just looking down from the 2nd floor balcony with a Justin Beiber cutout next to him. It’s funny because birds like to find their way into the store and their new favorite perch is Edward’s head…. My dad said to the cashier the other day “There’s a little pecker on Edward’s head.” Kudos to dad for knowing who he is… Epic fail for the cashier who didn’t even crack a smile.

But then sadly:

Bad news… Edward was shat upon and has therefore been sequestered into an interior chamber at the store for cleaning. I know cardboard is not submersible but I could possibly come up with some sort of moisture barrier… I will keep you updated on any sightings henceforth as now that he is sparkling (hehe) clean, they will for sure want to show him off somehow. I have an idea, he could sell us dog treats! I must phone the grocery store at once!

The sighting in Blue springs got me thinking about all the places I’ve seen Edward: Hot Topic & FYE music store in the mall (Did I ever tell you about the time that the mall cops yelled at me for taking a picture of the cutout in Hot Topic (This was before I knew what “normal” was!) and made me delete it from my phone? (I tweeted it quickly first. I rule) And Edward is, of course, in the background of all the pictures you all send us of your bedrooms (don’t TRY To tell me that you’re teenage daughters room!) But I don’t see Edward in NEAR enough places! I live in a MAJOR CITY. Edward should be all over the place. Like the Rocky Statue:

(True story: I’ve never seen it. I don’t care) Or on top of city hall, hanging with William Penn:

And a TON more people would visit the Liberty Bell if Edward was nearby:

And I’d SERIOUSLY reconsider my 10 year foray as a vegetarian & partake in a Philly cheesesteak if Edward was selling them!

Love,
UnintendedChoice

Has Edward been anywhere interesting in YOUR town? Think the marketing gal (obviously!) at the grocery store in Blue Springs, MO is an LTT reader? Where have you spotted one of the Twi-charcters cut outs!?

After the jump, an important announcement! Continue…

Once upon a time when I was a Twilight virgin…

Dear Twilight,

I cannot believe I’m about to partake in this “Twilight Week” Moon was so excited about (Read her letter from Monday if you have no idea what I’m talking about). Sure HER post was pretty 2nd-hand embarrassing, but it’s NOTHING like mine. Ugh.. the things I do for you…. Confess that I was once an innocent Twi-virgin…with great love for a sub-par movie…who referred to Rob as “Cedric” before saying his real name. Love me through this PLEASE:

Tuesday, November 18, 2008

I just re-read the book again.  And I.CANNOT.WAIT for the movie.  I bought my ticket already and plan on being there super early to get seats. I will be attending with other vampire-fiends like myself.

I would like a vampire-lover. It could be Bill or Edward, however, I’d prefer Edward. Although a shape-shifter like Sam would be fine too. I take that back. I do not like dogs. However… I do wish I was Bella….. lucky duck

[Ahem: Yes, I linked to a bunch of pictures of other vampires & shape shifters. And a duck]

My Perfect Bella

No one will care about this post except for [insert Moon’s real name], but that’s just how much I love you, [Moon]!

I saw Twilight twice so far 🙂 (emphasis on the “so far” because I WILL see it again) I had quite realistic expectations for the movie- I love the book(s) SO MUCH that it wasn’t possible for the movie to be as good.  I wasn’t sure if I liked Cedric Diggory (aka Robert Pattison) as Edward, but I did think Kristen Stewart looked perfect for Bella.  First glance it looks like the Cullen family’s casting was spot-on!

I saw the movie at the sold out 7:15 show Friday night with some wonderful friends and 1,000 screaming tweens and teens.  I almost kicked a 9 year old’s ass b/c her shirt said “Team Jacob,” but then she explained that “it was the only shirt Hot Topic had left.” (She was only really 9) I screamed at the Harry Potter preview along with the rest of the crowd. (And held my eyes and ears shut for the Unborn preview- what the H!?)

The movie COMPLETELY met my expectations.  It stayed so close to the book and the things they changed were mostly positive (aka, bringing in the bad vamps early on- liked that). It went SO fast.  Scenes that took 1 month and 250 pages in the book happened in 5 minutes- I definitely could have used more Edward/Bella love time (and I LOVED the kissing scene). I was disappointed that the only time he kisses her neck or spends much time in that region was at the Prom scene- the imagery in the book of his obsession with smelling her blood from there is SO AMAZING and they really glossed over it in the movie. Overall- I loved it.  I also could have used less laughing from awkward teens and swooning every time Edward came on screen (Okay.. I swooned too) LOVED the music!

So, I’m this lucky duck who has a husband who knows how his wife obsesses over things.  So, he “invited” me to join him to see Twilight again last night.  I was excited- it was a sleepy, cold, rainy Monday night and I figured all the tweens were in bed.  THEY WERE.  The theater held only 6 guests plus us! This time, I was the only one who cheered for Harry Potter or swooned when Edward appeared!

"Brilliant Scene" according to Mr. Choice

I warned [Mr. Choice] that as a piece of art, the film would probably disappoint.  It’s so hard for me to guess what “outsiders” would think since I’m such an insider.  I’ve told him a lot about the story (again, I obsess) and I was convinced he would hate Bella and Edward.  He was hard to read throughout the movie (I felt like Edward trying to read Bella), except when Muse came on.  Then he sang along.

I absolutely loved my 2nd experience.  It was SO different seeing it with “adults.” While I think I came away from my first time thinking it was a movie made for teens, I didn’t think that the second time.  There were things I noticed that I didn’t the first time around- and I felt that the connection between Edward and Bella was much stronger.  I was really sensitive about what [Mr. Choice] thought since I loved it so much and he’s such a film buff.  His thoughts COMPLETELY shocked me!

I’m forcing him to blog what he told me last night about the movie. FORCING him.  He LOVED it. He’s familiar with Catherine Hardwicke, the director, and thought it was her best film. He loved the cinematography, the actors, the chemistry between Bella and Edward.  And he thought the baseball scene was brilliant (it was- I tried the “Alice leg” last night- and failed miserably) He started played Muse the minute we got home! He said that this movie will get overlooked because of the demographic- but it shouldn’t.  He said no one would take it seriously, but it should be.  He thought it was as perfectly done as it could have been.  Even some of the things about the screenplay that I didn’t like, he thought were perfect.  He said he was just WAITING for it get cheesy- and it never did.  He even liked Stephanie Meyer’s cheesiest line “So the Lion fell in love with the Lamb…” So yes, my art-loving, film-buff (UFC fighting) husband liked Twilight.  I am so glad!

I’m re-reading the books (of course) and just finished Eclipse.  I forgot. O.M.G. It was so good! I can’t wait to finish Breaking Dawn! I’ll give you this, Team Jacob: While I hate every minute of what you LOVE in Eclipse, I do think their relationship is endearing. I love the scene in the tent when Jacob keeps Bella warm- but mostly because Edward says to him”But, if I had been able to take your place last night, it would not have made the top ten of the best nights of my life. Dream about that” HA! Suck on that Team Jacob.

Moon’s Comment (she was 2 out of the 3 comments. SAD!):

themoonisdown said…HAHAHA suck on that team jacob!! finished eclipse last night and LOVED it… might be the best so far… i was about to crawl out of my skin waiting for the ‘tent scene’ you were talking about. it did NOT disappoint!  aaaannndd just got back from my 2nd viewing of twilight and i have to TOTALLY agree everything was better i loved it! i was over projecting what i wanted it to be and just enjoyed it for what it was. i gotta hit the 2nd review on my blog. oh man wish we could go see it a 3rd time together. daang when can we seen new moon??? 😀

[I LOVE that we reviewed & commented as if others outside of US were going to be reading these reviews.]

With tons of embarrassing love,
UnintendedChoice

WHY did I say “Lucky Duck” so much!? And I CANNOT WAIT to remind Mr. Choice how he actually LIKED Twilight in the beginning- HAHA! And I don’t remember a time when I referred to Catherine as anything other than “Cathy Hardi- frequenter of TGIFriday’s Happy Hours!” UGH… can you still “respect” me as a NORMAL Twilight fan? Or did I just get thrown in as “delusional crazy” in your book? TELL ME I’M NOT ALONE in how I was as a virgin!!!

We’re running a Contest!!

Contest Rules: Comment/email us a link or copy of your first time. A chat convo with a friend, a review on a blog, a funny comment at a Twi site. UC and I will pick our faves and someone will win a tshirt from the LTT/LTR store to be announced this weekend.

Oh & stay tuned for a special THURSDAY letter tomorrow!
